just found this tour, as an early days one absolutely great. I love the dark colours especially in the entrance hallway. I love period houses too and this one did pay homage to its 1930s styling which i liked. My only slight query is a master bedroom with no ensuite?? I'd have made the study into a really big decent shower room for the master, but otherwise loved it. I can see that old style conservatory coming down for sure and much more open kitchen/dining/living area in its place. would love to see if fully finished including the garden if you plan to go back ;-)

I think thats just a thing in the US, that doesnt work like that in Europe, I'm from Spain so.. as far as I know the price of houses here in Europe depends ONLY on things like location and the distance from the important things like the drugstore, bus stop, or school, renovation does not add value, or not much really
i would break the main bedroom into the study and turn the study into a ensuite bathroom, move the bed to the side and move the cinema room to top floor.

Good presentation chaps. Well, for £500k I'd expect more than the finished product. First thing that needed addressing with that fat budget would have been the hideously ugly plastic windows. Next, demolish the conservatory. Scale back kitchen appliance budget and statement lights and spend on better carpentry.
Whilst the house is nice, for £500k I’d hope they added more character to the property rather than remove it all, for that price I expected a lot more. Like a spa at the end of the garden? Given the ovens are a fat part of the budget I suspect it was mostly spent on furnishings
You're right. This property would've had Crittall windows when it was built which added a fineness to the buidling. Sadly, these have been removed and plastic windows installed in their place; this is often done though ignorance and a lack of understanding of the care and attention to detail this building needs. Unintentionally, the owners have in fact devalued the building, which was likely not their intention, but what they've done. The gates really are unsympathetic and awful. Buildings like this really need protection from owners like this, this can only be done through Listing or in a Conservation Area.
Loved how they fit a theatre into a bedroom space. I imagine the kid coming home from college going “you converted my bedroom to a theatre! Where am I supposed to sleep?”
