  • *For those who question this video, look at the comments!*. Also, this seems to be affecting the V8 but not the V6 trucks except for the dash problem which is on most XLs and XLTs. This is my first video on CZcams speaking because I’m not a broadcast type of person. This is my personally owned 2018 F-150. In this video, I go over issues I’m having and my experience in the first 500 miles. The issues include a warped dash, high pitch engine whistle, 5.0 coyote engine oil consumption and dash rattles. My goal is to help fellow truck owners and potential buyers of the F150 and Ford Mustang. Ford continues to release TSBs for many of the problems and there are MANY. Please comment below if you have experienced any of the same problems. The more people who share their story, the more Ford may do about it. Thank you. Ford TSB

12 years with Ford, 24 total as a mechanic. I just left the last ford dealership i will ever work for. Ford has some major warranty policy problems. Ford will actually charge back the dealer for all repairs they feel un necessary and do not pay the dealers for the time a mechanic spends on diagnostic time. Make your complaint 3 times and get it lemon lawed out.. my apologies bro..

Jason. Don't feel too bad I bought 2013 f150 xlt ecoboost 4x4 and the darn thing got a cold 2 or 3 times. Every time it would rain it would cough. So after the 2nd time at 24 thousand miles I took it in I traded it in for a limited 2014 f150 EcoBoost that truck had brake problems twice. Once I was driving out of the dealer and tested the brakes went right back in to the service department and gave them the keys. Took 2.5 weeks to get it back they. The truck leaked all the brake fluid into the booster they replaced the master cylinder but not booster. I told them this will go out. They told me no it won't well guess what happened at 30k miles they were changing the brake system again. Had front drive shafts go out at 24k miles also. Timing chains ho out at 40 k

I own 2 ford pickups a 2011 ford ranger and a 1994 f 250 with a 460 gas I haven't had much trouble with either one. I am fussy about oil changes 2500 to 3000 miles I can change my own oil with these older pickups but the newer pickups look like a pain in the button to change. Why do they make all vehicles more difficult to work on. Guess I'll just keep driving my old ford pickups. They run great.

Ford will fix the dash, and the engine if testing verifies excess consumption. Btw, I’m no ford fanboy. I also have 40+ silverados which generally make 200kmi w/o anything serious. We’ve upped our replacement from 150kmi to 200+ in 2010 and haven’t regretted it. I’m done with Ram, and one of my 2 Toyota’s drinks oil like crazy.

I thought it was a great truck until started doing wierd transmission issues, and electrical problems…
It struggles to get me to highway speed limit, and it cries when it force it to over pass slow drivers…

    • @rv1canada604
      @rv1canada604 Před rokem +1

@@colinc1633 Other than a couple of factory recalls (headlight daytime lights, and a transmission update), nothing much, just minor software adjustments. There was a rattle from the front passenger side door while using B&O Sound system at high base volume, which was rectified by replacing the speaker under warranty. There was one more recall letter I received about tailgate opening itself, but I never experienced it. The dealer said they'll change the harness free of cost whenever in next, but I ended up trading it in for 2022 F150 Lariat Powerboost Hybrid model a month ago as our travel trailer and camping gear started getting heavier day by day. No dash warping issues, no whistling noises, etc. Just make sure that the vehicle has been serviced regularly and all bulletins and recalls have been taken care of. I wish you the best if picking 2019 F150 2.7L Ecoboost as it is a very good engine. In normal city driving, it just works like a small 2.7L tamed engine giving best mileage, but when needed under load, with twin turbos, it roars like a fast, powerful beast with a massive low RPM torque. You'll like it.

Let's start with the comment the "worse dealer in SC". You have no obligation to go to that dealer for any service. Go somewhere else. They may tell you service and warranty has to be done with them but your warranty is good at ANY North American Ford dealer.
Second, how long had your truck sit on the lot before you bought. You post it as built in August 2018, but posted in April 2019, 8 months after it was built. Part of the begining of the run where most issue seem to appear. That truck had been sitting on the lot since September 2018. Cooking in the sun can warp the dash. I agree that's an issue, but personally I never buy a vehicle that has been sitting on the lot. I order each and every one. I just received delivery on my 2019 Lariat, went over it for 2 hours with the sales person and brought in the service manager when I found the oil level (as shipped from Ford) was at the lower third on the dip stick. The level was brought up to the full line before I took it for a test drive (prior to signing all the paperwork). The service manager said vehicles will have oil at least to the low line and it should be topped off by the dealer prior to delivery (he apologized it was missed in PDI).
Third, every auto manufacture produces vehicles with issues, some major, most minor. I bought a Porsche which the AC would only run on max cold, the exhaust rattled, and 2 tires were out of balance. The dealer repaired them and that was that.
Find yourself another dealer service department you feel comfortable working with. Go in and calmly explain what issue you have and ask them to look at and take care of them. I have a great working relationship with the service dept at my dealer. They take care of any issues I bring up and with my 2017 Lariat, brought up ones they found (software updates, found nail in tire during The Works tire rotation, loose mounting bolt on a running board, etc) and took care of them.
I don't see an issue with getting a new long block (5.0 repair) and there is a fix for the transmission whine, Ford does replace the tranny.

I personally am a Chevrolet fan, the Chevy vehicles especially V8 are no better. the active fuel management system disables the V8 mode and turned it into a V4 thus an unpleasant jolt through your vehicle almost as if the transmission is slipping. It was under warranty so i took it in. They said it was normal! My neighbor needed his ford engine changed too.

Agreed 100% consider this. Ford sold an estimated 909,330 F150's in 2018. If 3% of them are utter turds that is approximately 27,000 bad ones and 882,330 good ones. My 2019 Raptor has had zero issues with only about 2,000 miles on it so far. I average about 17 to 17.5 MPG, and love every minute I drive it. ALL manufactures no matter how good they are, have a tendency to have the occasional problem with some of their vehicles that roll off the assembly line. GM/Chevy is having reported issues with their 8 speed transmissions, Rams are recalling a bunch right now for seat belts and I have also read they are experiencing issues with some of the tech inside. Sounds like the OP got a bad one, it happens.

If you drove it or even looked at the truck before you bought it you should have definitely not bought the truck. So at least that part is on you. The raddling when you let off the gas is a VCT timing thing when the engine is cold I have it and have had it the whole time and it hasn't done anything. My 16 F150 SuperCrew 4x4 Sport is specced similarly to your truck and had an MSRP of 51k. Only differences I noticed easily was mine has the power sliding rear window, center console and shifter, and the 20 inch wheels with the Sport package to go along with the XLT and tow package. Also has a Ford bedliner installed and I bought it new at the Ford dealership for 39k in 2016.
I don’t have the problem with the dash you have, or the molding making noise. I do get a rattle from the center dash grill cover when I go over bumps sometimes but that’s it. I don’t have the factory air box anymore as my truck was equipped with an S&B cold air intake almost immediately. As to your oil level who’s to say ? Maybe extra consumption but more likely somebody just didn’t put enough in yours. Pretty easy to top it off on level ground and then monitor it to see if you genuinely have an issue. Don’t forget that the modern PCV systems love to feed oil vapors back into the intake too although it wouldn’t be as much as you thought you were missing. I have oil separators on both the passenger and drivers side of my 5.0 and I empty them every 10k at oil change and both combined don’t come close to a quart though. I use Amsoil signature series synthetic and change my oil every 10k instead of the recommended 25k. Other add ons include a Bakflip bed cover, WeatherTech mats and hood shield, Dynomax exhaust, Husky rear fender liners, Denso Iridium plugs, drilled/slotted rotors and ceramic pads, and custom tuning by MPT. I have 57,000 plus trouble free miles on my truck and I don’t foresee any problems anytime soon despite driving it like I stole it. My last two Ford trucks prior to this one got 155,000 miles and 300,000 miles respectively, so they’ll certainly last awhile with any kind of decent maintenance regimen. Hopefully your issues with your FX4 get resolved quickly. They seem like they’d be really easy to take care of for a customer. Good luck !

In this case I think he is one of MANY 2018+ F150 customers who are sick of their 5.0 trucks. The saddest part is the almost universal common attribute that Ford refuses to do anything about it. There are way too many other good truck alternatives to put up with this, and I would encourage potential buyers to look at other manufacturers until FoMoCo fixes these issues and takes care of their loyal customers.

Had the same issue on a 2019 with the high pitched noise but it was around 2600rpm. I believe it was the airbox leaking in the back corner. I have swapped out with a cold air kit and it has fixed my issue. I can still here the air sucking but only at higher rpms as when im pulling a camper and its not so high pitched or nearly as loud as it was. As far as the other issues i cannot relate but will say I did have a vibration issue with a tire which Michelin replaced under warranty and the dealer installed. 18k miles and going good without any issue.

You should not have this many issues with a 55k truck. I have 2018 Silverado LTZ with the 8 speed transmission and it has been a nightmare. I have less than 10k miles and less than a year old. You know, I can understand your frustration. Having spent that kind of money on a new truck, and already having some issues ... I get it. But, there's a warranty there for a reason. Nothing is guaranteed to be perfect when buying a new anything, especially with mechanical parts .... Get to a reputable dealer, with a competent service department, and get those issues resolved. Yes, I have a 2018 F150 with a 5.0 .... yes, I've had some issues .... yes, they're getting resolved one by one. BTW, I recently had the dash replaced, no issues whatsoever afterwards .... it's no different of a process if your evaporator needed replaced, just get it done, they pull dashes all the time, jeeeze. Again, I feel for ya, but you've already spent the money for the truck so, either trade it on something else, or get it fixed. It is what it is ....

As long as Ford has been making trucks, you’d think they get it right. There’s no way I’d keep that truck with any type of oil consumption issues.. any brand new truck that needs it’s engine replaced because of oil consumption is pure garbage in my opinion. He’s probably better off buying a used Tundra with 100k miles and have less issues than this brand new truck.

I wonder if the layer of leather (fake I’m sure) on the dash has any effect. I don’t believe the.XL or XLT have it. So maybe without it, it is more susceptible. Dunno, though. Just guessing. Hopefully Ford is sticking by their product, though and making it right for you. Keeping fingers crossed for you! Gotta be SOOOO frustrating and heartbreaking.

I now have zero issues and love my truck. I also put 41,000 miles on my truck in 14 months and no not from working because I am retired. If you do not give them the opertunity to repair any issue you are not allowing a fix. To many people want to give up so easy and never allow the dealer a chance to repair or correct issues.
