    We tremendously appreciate all of your support over the years. The Folk Firearms Collective is a husband and wife team comprised of Denny Ducet and Alina Aldobrando. Our goal is to preserve the passion, art, culture and traditions of the blackpowder community and the adventurous history behind it. Should we fail to immerse ourselves and educate each other in this rich history, posterity will wither and cease, leaving the younger generations to never experience the joy of such times. Join us as we disconnect from all the modern noise and chaos.
    To support our channel, please feel free to become a channel member and gain access to exclusive content. All proceeds go to powder, ball, and associated accoutrements featured in our videos.
    We humbly thank the Flathead Valley Muzzleloaders Club for their dedication to this craft, the land on which we shoot, and most importantly-their willingness to partake in this preservation of history. Of all the folks we’ve been honored to spend time with, these gents and gals are the greatest of our friends. We are forever grateful for their influence and education in our own lives through the course of our traditional muzzleloading journey.

    I grew up shooting these primitive rifles with my parents until I went into the army after high school. The vast majority of shooting we did was at paper targets from a firing line. You people seem to be all about fun and socializing while you shoot, I like it. I hadn’t shot a black powder rifle since the early nineties until lately. Watching the videos of all of the shooting y’all are doing inspired me to drag out my late father’s flintlock and shoot a few shots. The smell of the burning powder instantly brought back memories. Both my mom and dad were great shooters back in their day. At one point my mom was ladies state champ in five states while my pop won a national match in Friendship in 74 I believe the last person to do it with open sights. I still have the targets. Something he always said was a damn fluke. My kids are both grown and gone I’m gonna find a club here in Georgia if there are any left and fire up the old smoke poles once again.

      Thanks for the kind words. I do nothing. The scene itself is beautiful and I do it no justice with my mediocre skill at attempting to capture it.

    Denny, Thanks for sharing, you truly have an eye to capture an amazing level of detail, fantastic work! Kudos to the participants too, quite a cast of characters, period attire, beautiful rifles, you could almost imagine that you've captured a color, HD view into the past.

    Just came across this in my feed and looks like you guys had a blast! Literally and figuratively! What area in Montana was this shoot? I'm a flintlock gun builder from Ohio thinking about moving to the Kalispell area in North western Montana, glad to see there are some guys that are into shooting (and hopefully hunting with!) traditional muzzleloaders! Also, is that Gene Gordner playing the guitar and singing towards the end?!

    • @drewdickey2832
      @drewdickey2832 Před 5 lety +1

      A large portion of these guys are from the Flathead valley! I have shot with them before and they're a blast!

    • @waksupi
      @waksupi Před 5 lety

      Yes, that's Gene. The Flathead, where this was shot, is still the Mecca for gun builders. Over thirty manufacturing facilities here, plus dozens of individual builders hid out in the mountains. If you move here, bring lots of money, land and houses are higher than a tall squaw's ass now. Very active ml clubs and hunters in this area.

    I love the beauty of Montana. The guy at the end can really sing and play guitar. He should be famous. At what distances were the targets I wonder?

    • @waksupi
      @waksupi Před 5 lety +1

      They were from around 20 yards to around 100 yards. Mike, who sets up the course loves small difficult targets. You will look at one, think it's easy, then find you are shooting at an olive over the big potato, or an apple over a balloon. He's devious, I tell ya!
