Denny: Could you PLEASE film some more of these interviews? There are many fine rifles and fowlers amongst your friends and a bunch of us would love to learn more about them. Thank you!
Denny, your love of the craftsmanship shows when you say its just as much fun to clean it properly as it is to fire it. Could not agree more. Thanks for a great watch....
In the 1970s when I was a child my (maternal) grandfather received a letter in the post from America. A man over there was researching his family history and had somehow made a connection between my grandfather and himself. He included known details about what he'd so far found out. My grandfather's surname was Ketland and apparently one of his ancestors had emigrated to America a very long time ago to either sell or produce firearms. I've often imagined the guns he was involved with to be like this and used like it.
I can only afford a "factory" flintlock, but you are right, even from a factory with CNC equipment, they are all different. Flinters are wonderful, and although I shoot many other types in competition, the flintlock is a favourite, with my percussion revolvers a close second... Thanks for the video. That rifle is a work of art ad you are a lucky man to possess it...... I will outlast even your grandchildren if cared for as is deserves.... :-)
Thanks, great video, I'm in the process of building a 8 bore single 1 3/8" barrel ,one smooth and rifled. You planted some great ideas in my head. Thank again!
im a newer muzzle loader, and have the luxury of a larger market. however, for those who have been shooting BP much longer than I, where do you get your replacement parts when something eventually breaks?
An absolutely beautiful gun! I've never heard about the heat in the pan setting off the main charge. Learn something new everyday! What would you suggest if I for a kit to build my own flintlock. I'd like to build a southern Appalachian style gun but for a first build I think the easiest build is probably the best.
Jim Chambers, Track of the Wolf and Jim Kibler all make incredible kits. If you did not want to make it yourself - you can find some good rifles that were custom made that come on the market at times. I am really glad to see you interested in the hobby and like myself - willing to just jump in. It is amazing my friend. You will love every moment.
Yes the pan flash is much faster.... over priming the pan actually slows the ignition a lot, and tilting the rifle to the right as you bring it up to mount makes sure that the priming is not covering the touch hole..... fires really fast then...
Un rifle inglés de chispa muy bueno y bonito. Se parece bastante al modelo Mortimer, que fabrica ahora Pedersoli en Italia .A very good and nice flintlock English rifle. It looks quite like the Mortimer model, which now manufactures Pedersoli in Italy.
Hi. I have a muzzleloading percussion shotgun, made in Spain, 12 bore, which has the same English shape, and the lock type is Alexander Henry. He uses it to hunt small game (rabbits and quails). Regards.
I have watched a few of these videos and wondered what this rifle was? I was gonna ask Waksupi what it was? I don't have to do that now. In the shoots i have seen of all you guys The 'Revenant' Montana Muzzleloader posse, etc. this rifle 'stands out' of the Crowd!! Wish i lived a little closer i would love to shoot with you guys!
hi Denny i'm 14 and i have always wanted a black powder rifle and still do i love hunting and the outdoors but we cant afford it probably for a long time if you have any suggestions for a good quality cheap rifle pls send it to me
I don't know what you were watching, but this is tuned quite well. If you build better, post a video. The man who built this has built for royalty, and has built hundreds of rifles. I doubt you have credentials anywhere near what he does. I don't know why you would harden a frizzen that goes off every time. He was using a worn flint here, rather than wearing out a good one.

Wonderful Flintlock and beautifully made

Beautiful firearm and very interesting commentary, from which, I learned a quite a few things. Thank you Mr. Ducet

Love this video and I love the gun....
Thanks Rob. Appreciate that.
The frizzen was also referred to as the hammer.

In one of my earlier videos of the Winter Shoot you should see an Appalachian style poor boy. The RED BEARD has it.
I'll be sure to watch it again and pick it out. Also going to look up those brands.

Beautiful rifle, congratulations.
Pedersoli's Mortimer looks like a copy of your rifle.
Hey just wondering who built your rifle or where I could maybe get one like it ! Cheers!
There is a waiting period of several years, and the builder is pushing 80 years old pretty hard!

Thanks for the comment. Come on up sometime. It is a happy welcoming crew!

Hunt around. There are some good cap Hawkens out there. Also look on americanlongrifleforum for used as well as trackofthewolf.com
The traditions kits are good to start out with, and aren't super expensive, look them up, and good luck
2 people thumbed down this video! LOL!
Yes - there are some handicap people lurking about on the internet. Maybe it wasn't tacticool enough for them. Putzs.
So who is this interesting man?
Lock time sucks , you should harden frizzen and tune springs

I would pay a lot for one of these rifles but I wouldn’t pay 60,000 for a truck🤣 there’s not a truck worth that much
