- Summer time on a river bottom woods walk with flint, cap and ball. Lots of lead thrown, good laughs and good grub.

"There is an indescribable calm that comes with the methodical loading ritual of these fine firearms... ....a meditative, zen like state is achieved when interacting with these finely fashioned pieces of steel and wood. ... Traditional muzzleloading is a vacation from the norm a reprieve from modern chaos." - Zábava

As Rilke said, a man's homeland is his childhood. Since I saw the film "Jeremiah Johnson" when I was 10, I fell in love with the era of the pioneers and the mountaineers. From Asturias, in the North of Spain with affection. Miguel Ángel Navarro.
Those flintlocks firing is music in itself !
If I lived anywhere near this group.....I'd be joining this club before unpacking my bags! Wish we had a group like that here in Kentucky somewhere. Enjoy it out there my friends....
If you ever visit!
Hey you guys are blessed to be able to get together like that and enjoy this wonderfully historical hobby.
Thanks for the video!
You guys are awesome, living the good life :-)
Thanks Rex!! Looking forward to you coming sometime!
That's something i found over the years too. The more basic the gun, the more fun it is to shoot. For example I can get way more satisfaction from shooting a good fist size group at 100 with open sights than a one hole group with a benchrest rifle, wich is the thing I used to be after when I was younger.
please keep these videos coming!!
Love watching these videos and bringing my long rifle out in the woods of W. Virginia. When I see caplocks though I just see the time when firearms were transitioning from being an extension of ones self into being just a tool. Caplocks spelled the end of the age (for the common man) of the muzzleloader and ushered in the age of the firearm as a machine. Just my opinion. Your mileage may vary.
These rifles are work's of art!. I'm buying a Traditions Kentucky Flintlock kit for a Christmas present to myself. Can't wait to build it as a winter project!.
Your videos are absolutely wonderful.
Gorgeous video.
Thank you!

MAGNIFICENT. Keep on!
Thank you! New video up today. More in Flintlock playlist.
Aw man, you guys are makin me homesick, but I should be home soon, God willin
Ive been thinking of moving to Montana from Florida due to the way Florida is shifting more to be like California. I have a Brown Bess and a Pennsylvania Long rifle both flintlock that I would love to join you guys with one day.
Do it.
Awesome video, beautiful Flintlock Rifles. Modern guns really don't have the beauty of old guns.
Very Great !
I love longrifles.
Looks like a good place to shoot with some great company!
Amazing location, company couldn't get better. Classic, genuine, real dudes. The modern gun industry is so chalk full of ego tripping, goons and arrogant mental midgets and marketing that I have checked out. I will use my modern guns as the tools they are, however I am done with modern industry. It needs a thorough cleansing. This is a reprieve for sure.
Nice
What an impressive bunch of gents. I have the same passion, but no one to shoot with.
You are welcome here anytime. We shoot second Sat every month.
Great job at usual! I didn't see much flinching on the video, but did witness a couple dandys today. Thanks for doing this!
You bet, thanks for the powder and ball brother!
What size percussion caps do y’all use in firing rifles and pistols ?
You know Denny, I came to black powder in the early 90's thanks to a 63 year old dentist. He's dead now and I wish I had the money he wanted for the flint locks he made.... God how I miss doing things like your friends are doing in this video. We hunted the Laurel mts. Of Pa. with black powder. Find the book... 30 years in the life of a hunter, true story of late 1700's in the same Pa. mts.. You will love it.
Thank you for the tip! Now, go get a rifle and get back into it. We live once. Do it.
Great compilation of flintlocks and cap locks. Now how about some wheel locks and matchlocks?
Excelente video.
Saludos

For kits, Jim Kibler is a great choice.
Traditional boss s**t!

Tell me about it... I'm 64 now and live in SC. I hate it down here. I have to drive about 3hours to find descent woods, and most of the best places are hunting clubs for the rich and lazy. Most of the wooded ares around me are full of swamps, they say "why do you think they call it the low country". It's just not the same to this born and raised West Virginia boy,
I have a rifle, but nothing like that down here in South Texas. I wish i could shoot there.
come on up.
Denny Ducet Very gentlemanly of you thank you kindly.
Oh by the way Denny... find some silk material, very tight weave , it will give you an extra 20 yards of straight shooting distance.
I didn't find that. I spent three months, five days a week testing different patching and lubes. The silk idea came from a fictional book, and had no precedence, not to mention it tended to blow out badly. Many things mentioned in old journals and books were expeditious means to accomplish what needed done. I can guarantee that silk will not give an extra 20 yards. Pure linen, and pillow ticking are still the gold standard, and moose milk on the top of the heap for lubes.
