Thanks for another great share, Derek. I have gone through the same shit over 25 years. I never got a bad beat and wasted decades playing. I looked up the odds a while ago and realized, JUST getting quads are 1 in 3000 or so hands and getting quads over quads is one in about 33,000 hands. I used to play online where I could crank out tons and tons of hands fairly quickly. Even so, I still never got near a jackpot. All in all, an incredible insidious addiction, a waste of time, energy, and waste of life. Gambling fucked with my health, focus, and anything and everything else of what made me....me. It's a false dream. When I first get to Vegas, I am so excited, but that excitement fades quickly. I feel for other compulsive gamblers like myself. We have to take a stand. Realize we are sick, and do WHATEVER IS NECESSARY to break free from this addiction!

Well said brotha. When you look up the odds its pretty crazy how astronomically tiny they are. I could literally play everyday for my entire life and not see that same hand again. What a crazy game

I won a bad beat and i remember the feeling of needing to control the high, to constantly remind myself not to chase it, technically i had made a bad call with pocket 10s. The worst Ive seen, was a guy who would've walked away with 8,000 but he didn't have his ID and did not recieve the payout. Worse than that he was gambling on his last dime, like literally loose dollars in his pocket. By the time they got around to asking people for IDs to go get paid he already owed a lady 100 bucks and had lost that as well (limit poker, man). She had happily lent it cus she was going to get 1500 table share. He was so happy thinking his luck had turned, but instead he came back asking for money for the bus and the lady was out 100. I got a cut that night, but i will never forget that lesson never gamble on your last dime, even if you get lucky doesn't mean you'll get paid. True story

I was never into poker but very good video brother . It's crazy that we could gamble at anything for 14 hours straight but I did at slots so totally relatable

100% agree. I remember finishing a 14 hr poker session and seeing people still on the slots who were already there when I started. Such a wild addiction

So true brother . Totally irrational behavior. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over , expecting different results . Gambling addict may as well be called a insane gambler

It's a trap but neither you or the lady who won it even knew or cared about it. Lol
I do agree with the "what if"
There's a pai gao game near me that has had a 350k+++ 7 card straight flush payout for several years.
I ALWAYS play at least a few hands cuz.. what if

People who curse AK or superstitious players have the worst Tells. Its sad sometimes but money is money and they're exploitable. Agree with everything you said

The bad beat JP had to be more than 60,000 cause every one I have seen the loser of the hand gets 50% the loser gets 25% and the table splits the rest if you were saw the flop. i have never seen a bad beat JP all go to the loser but good story.

Oh true! I think the winner maybe did get something? But to be honest I can't remember. I just remember how happy/excited that lady was 😅

I don't know one player that is playing for bad beat jackpot, meaning card room isn't fuller because BBJP is into six digits. Most recognize it's just randomness. Slot players, however, those nutballs are enticed by the progressives.

These are poker stories that happen to anyone who played alot of poker. I can tell you real gambling addiction stories. Like when you go completely numb and your throwing dice blindly doubling your bet every time knowing your going to the moon or to 0 and there's no stoping it. or when you lose so many bets in a row that you continue to bet questioning all your understanding of math and luck knowing that there is nothing you can do to win. When you beg borrow and steal to try and get your money back so you can chase your losses only to win it all back and then some and lose it again. That's gambling addiction
