Great review and comparison! I know the big effort you guys put in for the videos, but I think you would win in the long run to maybe put in "chapters" on when you talk about the batteries or when you talk about the cameras etc. Great work!
I have a 12 pro max and im not upgrading to 13 pro max just for 2 or three features that has new iphone im happy with my 12 pro max they are basically the same
iPhone 12 Pro Max is still the beast 1 year later than the iPhone 13 Pro Max 1 month later too and for me it’s hard to pick which one to upgrade as I said in the past I’II wait till iPhone 14 Pro Max launches
It’s not hard 13 pro max is way better
Usually I wouldn’t recommend a year to year phone upgrades unless your an tech enthusiast or reviewer, but this would be one of those rare cases of an yes. The big jump in battery life plus the 120hz refresh rate for a smoother experience is worth the upgrade coming from a 12 pro max in my opinion. Don’t upgrade if you feel comfortable with the 12 pro max.
That last sentence says it all. Paying $1000 each year even for this "big battery jump + 120hz" is NOT worth $1000 for sure.
I mainly myself don't recommend people to buy iPhones due to their high cost unless they wanna look "cool". Apple is doing seriously AMAZING at giving you smooth experience and long lasting updates, optimization and long lasting batteries, but batteries can still be replaced if you want your iPhone to live longer. I just "as a tech-enthusiast" don't see iPhones to be worth >$1000 thus why i myself recommend people not to buy them. Whatever you can do on an iPhone, you can do the same and even more on an Android phone worth $500.
I don't hate Apple for what they do, nor am i a fanboy of Androids, but the fact that Apple is unable to make mid-range phones with great lasting batteries like Android for $400-$500 is kinda sad.
Never switch to the newest iPhone phones unless you have money for it. If you do, just like OP said, for the 120hz and longer lasting battery, go for it.
@@gateopssss slow down. I sold my 12 pro max for 850(would have sold for higher if I knew apple was giving high trade in value this year) so my upgrade was around 350. Worth it.

Also, I’d argue smartphones are definitely worth $1000. Think about what the device does - It’s your phone, personal computer, watch, music player, map, notepad, GPS, mobile camera, wallet, compass, etc.
You are completely wrong, even with those improvements aren’t something HUGE to justify a 1k upgrade
I feel like the battery life on my 12 pm didn't budge until about a month before the 13 came out 🤔 that one terabyte option would be great. Be able to keep that thing for a long time
Watching this video on my 11 Pro Max, I still feel that I have a long way to go on this bad boy before I switch to a newer iPhone. The battery life is still great and the phone doesn’t really feel that old even though it is 2+ years old on paper!
Great review! I definitely agree with what you said at the end. Unless you can get it for a steal, keep your 12 Pro Max. My carrier offered me $800 for my 12 Pro Max which means I’ll only have to pay $200 for my 13 Pro Max. Great deal!

One thing about technology is that if you procrastinate buying anything based on the probability of something better coming out soon, then you’ll never be able to buy anything.
On the other hand… the longer you hold onto your current technology the more amazement you’ll have with the newest product when you do choose to upgrade.
Technology is like life… when you live it everyday it feels like nothing changes. Step aside and take a look a few years back in the past and everything’s changed.

If you have an 11 or 12 pro max I would probably wait to see what the 14’s have to offer unless you are a professional photographer or you are a person who is really into tech you might really like 120Hz and some of those minor changes coming from your 12 pro max even your 11 pro max

I cancelled my 13 Pro Max order yesterday, changed my mind. I’m quite happy with the 12 Pro Max and will wait until the 14’s. I might get a Pixel 6 in the interim.
Upgrading from a 12 Pro Max to a Pixel 6 Pro today. More of an upgrade IMO, the 12 and 13's are way too similar.
@@PNWDOM I don’t think the Pixel 6 is really much of an upgrade from the 12 Pro Max. I just want a change from iOS. The Pixel doesn’t have Face ID, and the video quality is still way behind iOS. The Touch ID is reported to be not very reliable either. I’m interested in the famous still photo camera capability and i like pure Android without Samsung bloat wear.

If you’re like me I just upgrade every year for my birthday at the start of the new year every year I pay usually $150-200 to trade in my iPhone 12 to upgrade so it’s easy for me lol I love the 120HZ mine should be in on Friday lol

Do have to agree with you. Not much of a difference. I thought like you. Did apple just get me? Lol. They look identical. However the interface is much smoother on the 13. Haven’t played with my camera much yet. However that’s one reason I upgraded.
I couldn’t wait for the 14pro max NOMORE lol I gave in and upgrade from my 12pro max 512gb Gold to the 13pro max 1TB Graphite I love the bigger camera that’s what got me plus the weight also the 120hz and the Amazing focus on the camera the sharpness and the smaller notch I just love it
I get that every 2 (perhaps even 3) generations NEED “silicon changes” to keep a smooth performance! But a “benchmark” test worth an upgrade? That’s just silly!

you absolutely do not need the iphone 13 pro max if you have the 12 pro max..the changes are very little.. i think thats one of the reasons why apple does not sell the iphone 12 pro max anymore..

This is an honest opinion from a photographer. I had 12 pro max but got 13 pro max because of the cinematic lens. DON’T SWITCH TO 13 pro max.
Im in my 2nd replacement. Its takes dark photo’s compared ro the 12 and the when taking video it noticeably jumps from each lens. The mid lens is crystal clear. The other two video lenses are fuzzy. Apple said thats normal to get the noticeable jump transitioning lenses. I have all apple products

I’m listening to this on a 13 pro max right now at 3/4 volume and youre screaming at me. At full volume my neighbor is going to scream at me too. Definitely a huge difference in sound level from my 12 pro max.

@@nickackermanchannel battery is absolute beast, the refresh rate, stellar camera(macro, proRes, cinematic video mode), brighter screen, better performance overall.
The newest model is better but not enough to justify the trade especially with that weird notch we have now.

All the ios updates but still, no customizations, no split screen multitasking. Apple? Get your head out of your behind and give some updates, that actually mean something!!
They did add split screen to iPadOS. Wish they would add it to the phones

Great vid as always nick from the uk 🇬🇧 I got the 13 pro max from my 12 pro max got say I have enjoyed the upgrade for the micro camera and battery life has improved quite a lot .
Although they have the same front facing cameras the 13 pro max is slightly better. I’ve seen tests on both cameras for some reason the front facing camera is a slight improvement.
Do you think it's software? Or the lenses themselves?
@@kimcraig5433 I personally think it’s the new A15 chip being able to process images better than the A14. Sometimes a new processor makes images better in quality slightly
Apparently the iPhone Se has the same lens as the iPhone 8 but takes better photos due to a better processor and I think machine learning.

IPhone 12 Pro Max battery is more than 1 day even after heavy use. 120 Hz is unnoticeable after few days of usage. Save money and buy iPhone 12 Pro Max in mint condition.
