- Due to the music complaints in the over video I rendered this bad boy again and made the music more quiet and my voice slightly more louder!
After around a hundred hours of editing, countless hours rewatching old clips, and 20+ hour rendering it is finally here!
*IF YOU ARE NOT LISTENING WITH HEADPHONES/EAR BUDS THE MUSIC MIGHT BE OVERBEARING WHEN CONTRASTED WITH MY VOICE"
Though this guides targeted demographic is melee (DRG, NIN, MNK, SAM, PLD, DRK, WAR) ranged and caster players can benefit as well from some sections!
Fast Forward:
1. Basics - 1:59
2. Boss Mechanics - 3:59
3. Risks - 8:57
4. Auto Attacks - 9:43
5. Movement - 14:03
6. OGCD AOE Usage - 16:13
7. Uptime & Positioning - 18:07
8. Group Coordination - 20:12
9. Gap Closers - 23:43
10. Buff Uptime Optimization - 28:17
[Edits and Fixes]
At 9:55 there is a duplicate spelling of the subtitle I say next should be "could mean the difference between beating someone or not" instead of "now you may be asking me"
At 0:30 "preview" is supposed to be "previous"

Really appreciate this, damn. You didn't have to rerender again but you did it for us thanks a ton.
Great guide as well my friends and I are really feeling like we've been improving a lot over the past few weeks and this just helps with that with great clips and examples. I can tell how hard you worked for this video with the quality of the editing as well.
im glad you took on board the criticism/feedback and you are actively looking to improve your videos. Really refreshing to see :D
I knew most of this but nonetheless this is a good guide for the average.
The one thing that i learned in here was the moving with the add to keep hitting it. I always tried it but not in a parallel position but now that I know is doable ooooooo I'm doing it! :) Learn new things every day.
Amazing job, this is the kind of video the community needed. Thank you for titling this "Melee Uptime" and not Melee dps uptime as tanks are included and should be held to the same standard and ideology.
Not surprised at all that these tips haven't aged at all. Great stuff.
I'm going to watch this multiple times probably. This is really good and now I can show this to multiple people. Thank you so much for your hard work! I know you reuploaded this and I appreciate the work and the dedication. Also I love the music. Not sure if you posted links or song names as I'm still watching, if not, that would be amazing to have. :o
Depard - Hope!
and the intro song is the Dr. Zomboss Theme from Plants vs. Zombies called "Brainiac Maniac"- its a remix version by GaMetal

Such an awesome video.. thank you
You're welcome!
Tenzai here, I think it's really great how you pushing out content to provide forming great new players, even though our hardcore community is so small!! I do really appriciate everyone making this section of the community grow! So thank you very much
Momo you're the best.
Great video, I knew most of it but it still gave me lots of things to think about.
I had a question, how do you handle Forbidden Chakra after downtime? I usually save it until I get GL3 again (and a bit longer if IR and/or RoF are coming off cooldown), but considering that every crit is a potential chakra stack lost I'm wondering if it isn't better to use it right away and hope RNG loves you.
Each chakra stack lost because you held TFC is a 50 potency loss. I treat it as all my other oGCDS and start using them once I get 2 stack of GL.
This is something new nobody is doing momo great good bro I actually need this to get better since rotation was never my problem
Thanks man!
@FFXIVMomo which of the melee is your favorite in SB?
A really good place to use gap closer for more optimization is right after you fall down from -100GS in O2S
if done correct you can jump in and get 1 GCD off and still be safe from gaze
You should be tanking the boss North or South for maximum uptime.
our tank has OCD and loves tanking in middle and facing north
Hello !
Very nice guide, thanks for sharing your experiences about melees !
I'd just add something about the Auto Attacks :
While the max range to hit GCD is 3yalms and Auto Attacks are about the same range, you CAN hit GCD Without landing auto attacks. So it is best not to stay too far away even though you can hit your GCDs. You might lose an auto Attack !
Yep
Thank you, I'm still learning the game and this has been SO helpful. Wow.
The ABC's of dps. Always Be Casting!
of every job
So if the goal is keep my GCDs spinning does that mean I should use Fuma instead of Raiton in my rotation? Even though Raiton only clips into my GCDs by a fraction of a second?
if you lose a GCD to raiton clip then it's never worth it, but if you don't then i think it's fine
What Alice said.
Woah
Im a little confused on how you are doing the elusive jump on the knockback on O1S. I tried it and just jump farther away from the center.
using Legacy controls, when you move backwards you actually turn around. he turns around just before the knock back and hits elusive during the pushback so he lands on the other side of the boss
after some testing you do not need legacy controls for this. Just need to slide backwards before the knockback.
this is the SUBDUED music version?...
Ohyes i can hear those raspy tones just perfect now dogdad xoxo
