    When the Columbine shootings happened, people were quick to point the finger to Marilyn Manson because one of the shooters just happened to own a Marilyn Manson CD. But when Marilyn Manson was interviewed on prime TV and was asked what he would have said to the two shooters if he had a chance to talk to them, his reply made the School and the parents involved eating crow in shame.
    "I wouldn't have said anything, I would have LISTENED, those kids had something they wanted to say but nobody paid them any attention!"

      @@swantjefoolcan9650 hope you're doing better now, even with the rib pain, but the straps are NOT because your body fights intubation or the sedative (they administer a paralytic with the sedative, its the anaesthetists job). the real reason is usually just to stop you arms flopping about, or to help keep the arm in a nice supinated (palm up) position for the anaesthetist to get easy access to your median cubital vein in your arm.
      any pain you get from the arms is usually due to the surgical team pushing the arm about, leaning on it during an operation, or when you get rolled over. in addition the sedative/paralytic mix they give you can often cause slight muscle pain.

    Recently, I've been thinking how much the negative doubting, shouting and even hating, impacts the greatest. The critique and bashing can fold somebody, of course, but it seems that it is needed to push through boundaries into great success. The need to show the doubters. The power that comes from negativity can be even greater than the power that comes from positive feed back.

      I understand where the hate for Nickelback comes from. Their first 4 albums were decent and most people can probably agree on that. But when All the Right Reasons came out, I see where the hate starts coming in. Personally, I don't have a problem with the album, but you can tell they definitely got a little more pop on songs like If Everyone Cared and Far Away. Dark Horse, that album is good, but it's literally all about sex and getting drunk (with the exception of Just to Get High, which has an excellent message). Here and Now, it had some heavier songs that even modern Nickelback haters have said they like (This Means War), but they get more pop on this album (Holding On to Heaven, Don't Ever Let It End, Lullaby). No Fixed Address was all over the place, from a disco song to a Flo Rida cameo. Plus, you can tell the heavier use of Ryan Peake's backing vocals on some songs, probably due to Chad Kroeger's voice issues that lead to him having surgery. They redeemed themselves somewhat with Feed the Machine, with even hardcore Nickelback haters giving praise to the title track.

It was probably a sketch in the two Ronnies or something. A lot of comedians at the time roasted her, trouble was she amassed such a following that the networks actually had to listen to her demands otherwise their ratings would suffer tremendously. Whenever I think of her now I wonder what she would do if she saw what was in tv and music etc it makes me laugh thinking about it.

Imagine watching someone who is getting paid a shit-ton of money for doing something they love, while you're stuck in a soulless, dead end job for minimum wage. There's two ways to go; either applaud their good fortune or try and bring them down to your level. There's too many prepared to tear down rather than toast success. Personally, I admire anyone who has had the balls to do what they love and make a living out of it, because it's never as easy as it appears.

    I'd love if heavy metal had a bigger audience so more people could enjoy it, but with a fandom like metalheads, who dont even get along in the different subgenres of metal and throw shit at each other, metal will mever succeed among the big masses. That's why lots of people hate on metal heads too, most of them are insufferable and intolerant to even other genres of metal, imagine bringing another music into conversation that isn't even metal.

    • @eazyv2069
      @eazyv2069 Před 4 lety +4

      Mainstream mass appeal is where good things go to die. There's already plenty of modern metal bands which are gunning for a pop spot and it's doing nothing good for the genre or what that band individually could have been. It's tragic seeing bands put out early albums these days filled with traces of how great they could be just to betray themselves and bleed themselves for a passing moment in the sun by the next. Adversity is the crucible which produces quality - take that away and you just end up with husks who could put out anything and there'd be ten million and one people mindlessly funding and consuming it. What's the point? Old bands like Maiden which got insanely big are only still producing things worthy of their potential because of the environment they had to overcome and it instilled an integrity, commitment and discipline you rarely get anymore. Metal's already at a point where it attracts the attention of people with no understanding or care for the culture and history. It doesn't need to go further.

    There's a damn good reason why musicians get the better of haters and that's because they are smarter than they are given credit for. I imagine the case against Dee Snider, the PMRC thought they'd have it done and dusted in a matter of minutes, but failed to realise that Dee isn't some muscle-headed musician, but actually a thoughtful and articulate man who tore apart their feeble arguments with very little effort. And as for Alice Cooper, sending thank-you gifts to the haters for inadvertently boosting his career is a touch of class!

'Of course I do' I respond. And he plays his newest song for me. I say to my sister ' oh fuck, imagine that. My son has an outlet for his thoughts and feelings.
