Gimle VS. The Ten CRAMmandments - From the Depths Battleship Battle

    Gimle Open Seas Build Rules:
    - Naval ships or low flying airships. Your submission should work in a naval setting but cannot submerge, it also can't fly higher than 500m if it is an airship.
    - No cheese, like no 1m tetra spam filled areas for aim spoof, no internal waterpropellers or azipods, no spincliping and all those other usual cheese tactics are banned.
    - Max 100K blocks
    - No extreme missile or interceptor spam (hint: use mediums and not so manny smalls)
    - No waterpumps or heliumpumps what so ever, like not a single one can be present on your build.
    - Under 2.2 million cost: that means 2.1XXX not 2.2XXX
    - Max 2 Repair Bots
    - No spawners/drones/docked crafts
    - No extreme subobject spam (like 200 dif guns)
    - No intentional melee
    - No video screens and cameras present on the battleship (the one that makes captains see when there is no windows)
    - Ship can not play video our audio sources during battle. (includes YT video players etc)
    - When submitting the ship, any lights and smoke generators should be switched off and not activate during the battle since they cause unnecessary lag, if you have a decorated version with interiors etc we should check out please submit one "battle version" where laggy stuff is turned off and one "parade version" that looks cool with all its lights, video players or cameras and smoke effects etc enabled and working.
    Btw: if your ship lags too much I will not be able to use it. If your ship breaks the rules the battle will be cancelled.
    - Deadline: Open submission.
    - Ships must be submitted to me via Discord DM or Email, send the .blueprint file, not a workshop link.
    Battle Rules:
    - The battles will be best of three.
    - All ships will spawn with the bow towards Gimles bow, gimle is a one sider, but it still spawns nose to nose, make your ship manouverable enough to avoid a collission. This rule is because the ships will close in on eachother and that is much more entertaining than far away orbiting battles (thanks Menti!), if you want that, spend on manouverabillity and speed, because you are not getting optimal orbit for free.
    - Given 500K materials.
    - You need to be able to win within 15 minutes of ingame time per battle.

    Thanks so much Gmod! :D Glad I was able to provide entertaining content! I still say that different systems make a difference in bp design effectiveness- in the battles I was running the Crammandments was also losing health faster to start, but the turnaround was happening in the 80%s range, but the Crammandments would still end up looking pretty sad by the time it was wrapped up.
    Things of note- there are planar shields lining around the whole top of the ship, the hotblocks targetting goes for them, and the planar shields reduce the damage dealt by the lasers. It also hopefully bounces a shell here and there. No decoys, but there are surge protectors near those and the LAMS nodes.
    Which, speaking of, in placement, still have room for refinement. They're fairly short range, and there's a bit of a weakness to low-angle Cram coming in especially when they get over the middle of the ship, and your frag CRAM can just tear them out entirely with time. On the flipside, they're insanely powerful. The cavity recharge is just over 5 seconds and the sustained damage per second is 239,760. The other (fuuuuuture) design foregoes LAMS altogether and gets to pump out SO much more damage as a result...
    The red APS is indeed disruptor conduit shells- they're meant to deal with planar shields to reduce bounces for the CRAM shells- that they were taking out systems with EMP damage was just a happy bonus for me. That turret usually doesn't last so long.
    The Crammandments does have redundant AI- hence the multiple aimpoints, but yeah it's a bit ballsy of me to have them as lightly armored as they are. I didn't want EMP to fry them if I used HA- sounds weird, but surrounding them with other EMP vulnerable bits is like a sort of ablative EMP armor. Of course a big enough surge is still a problem- I have got surge protectors around, but they can get taken out by general damage as easily as EMP with the design as it is. The whole central compartment is raised above the floor to reduce EMP vulnerability coming from the main ship.
    Yeah, the turning is ...slow. Same goes for my other entry, so I've got a 360* turret coverage philosophy to be able to fight no matter where the enemy is- not blocking any of the turrets arcs with other turrets or superstructure.
    I want to give a shoutout to Knife-kun from Menti's server (Menti is on hiatus now) for the Cram tetris used here. It's a tetris he discovered and is far more effective than diamond 3D! o.O I'm serious, this tetris is STRONGK! It is, hands down, the strongest Cram tetris I have ever seen, and I want to give credit where it is due on this.
    I think that it should be mentioned that the Gimle is a really tough opponent to beat, and that it took me multiple attempts to do so. What makes the Gimle such a brilliantly wonderful design in my own opinion is that it looks as amazing as it is deadly... or is as deadly as it is wonderful to behold, it's the combination of both. And I can do wonderful looking designs if I try to build that way- but when I build competitively that all goes to the wayside in order for the design to be competitive. And even that said, even if I try, I can't achieve the level of detail that you and various other builders can. I might be able to beat the Gimle in combat, but I am not sure that I will ever beat the Gimle in style. ^_^

      On note of the cram Tetris, is this the one with the Packers with 3x connection each on every second level?

      @@Cobrax_x No, it's not a 2-layer tetris design. It's based on 3x3 6-connection grids with extra 3, 4, and 5 way connections snuck in.

      @@shawnreed343 just wondering the mat/firepower of this Tetris, the most effecient 3d Tetris currently that I know of is 300 mat/firepower (assuming there is no kinetic pellets)

      @@Cobrax_x Sooooo if I set it to both HE and Frag at the same time with a 14.42 second reload based on compactors (31 setting), the material/firepower listed in the stats of the firing piece UI is listed at 370.3. If I set it to just HE, that number becomes 301.5 with a 22.08 sec reload. If I fiddle with it and set the compactors to 35 (24.07 sec reload) and HE to 100, it drops to 295.8. If I go to the exact way they're set on the Ten Crammandments, this number is 334.8 - which does have kinetic pellets. Total firepower per turret being 289.32 (which is not as high as it could get). On a 15x15x13 turret.

    I got to give it to the Cramandents, it's a very fun, original and very effective design. And I was quite suprised by the effective redundancy of his cram turrets!
    However, apart from the *lucky* hits the ship did, the gimle was definitly better survivability wise, only once losing the lasers (which is vital against crams), and once losing power, but no real AI damage. The ship technically survived by superior armoring, but did indeed have bad luck with the ongoing cram hits.
    Was definitly a great watch and looking forward to the trails again!

    The one thing I would change to the CRAMmandments is to add small bit of applique armor around the CRAMS to serve as spall catchers. Due to their unusually high armor they are very efficient at reducing explosions and frag.
