Even if the Switch 2 doesn’t outsell the Switch, it can still do pretty well. They just need to improve upon stuff the Switch lacked and have a decent line-up of games.

edit: I feel we can’t predict much off of a console that hasn’t been announced, such as if it will succeed. My point id that there’s nothing to really go off of besides the past. Yes, it’s speculation, and I honestly love speculation, it builds up hype. but when it comes to predicting a console’s failure, idk, feels like a stretch. Only care insomuch as it failing doesn't interfere with the quality of the games, as the Wii U's failure affected many of it's final year or 2 of games. Success = money = more budget for games. Not that Nintendo's shown themselves to be boosting the budgets in many of their titles lately with the frequent lack of content. At least in the online games

It depends on the games as well. A lot of good games can make it very successful. It might not nesscarily beat the Switch records, but that's still possible, too. It depends on the console and the games.

It just needs to be powerful enough where games run constantly at 60 FPS with no frame drops that is all I care about that will be a big improvement over the current Switch.
@@Adamtendo_player_1 Even though people who watch switch 2 related video and the creators claimed too that they only care about the 60fps experience as well as backward compatibility and hybrid, the truth is that most video creator actually are hungry for the 4K graphical upgrades and the ps approach(no new gimmick)

Like not everything from the Wii U was bad but the commercials suck because the fact that it targeted families, the commercials, kind of gone slightly better, by ditching the family market for kids for the commercials but they still didn’t showcase any of the Wii U features anyways, the Wii U is a better console than the switch in terms of games and menu and best of all has music and even has an online browser also, as soon as The online servers go down. I hope the browser stays up so you could still actually browse through the Internet yet you no longer get to play games like Mario maker or Splatoon and there’s probably a chance that it would stay up

@@user-mc1wb2sm4p you can play as the other pilots and new pilots in StarFox 2 and StarFox Command. Though I would recommend StarFox 2 over Command story wise and gameplay wise.
EDIT: Also I don't think Nintendo would do an open world starfox game, not like Starlink. It would be bigger and more expensive then botw and totk. Doing that on an IP that has been falling in sales wouldn't make sense.
However, something like Assault + SF 2 is more likely and more doable. Assault is actually a game that feels like it would be something nintendo would do for starfox in the switch era. Open sandbox areas with the ability to play as other ships and other pilots.

If the switch 2 fails, idc as long as i like it and the games are good. I had fun with my Wii U (though i was a kid than who was excited to get it for Christmas) and i don't see how they can fail with the games for the switch 2.
The Nintendo switch was a game changer with you being able to play console quality games on the go and ability to switch between playing your games on the go or hooking up your switch to your TV which intern helped drive sales of the Nintendo’s first party. I get it that after the success of the Wii, Wii U was a flop and then the Switch was massive success as things stand the Switch 2 can’t fail to succeed but Nintendo hasn’t figured out how to maintain this success but I’m hoping that this changes with Switch 2.

I keep saying that if they make a switch 2, it’s just going to end up being another Wii U situation. Sure it may sell pretty well compared to even the Wii U in general, but it’s just going to be a very similar console to its previous and people will be less inclined to buy it unless they want a certain game

The switch currently has ZERO competition (if you say Steam deck, go look at the numbers, it's not even close). There's no point in Nintendo competing with their own product, and that's why I believe everyone's taking the wrong approach to the next Nintendo console. Sure there may be a switch 2 further down the line, but I believe the next console will be a more standard home console, not a hybrid, and it'll integrate with the switch in a way that makes it sensible to own both the new console AND a switch, but with both platforms still holding up on their own. I can see a console that has a more up-to-date chipset to support a wider range of third party games, so it can play games the switch can't. But then I see it also implementing the new Nintendo account system to play switch games using cross-save, so you can use the new console to run switch games with better performance, but then you can still take your switch and play that same game on-the-go using the same save data (which will require a Nintendo online account, more money for Nintendo). All the new patents so far relate entirely to peripherals (the joycons and dock) and not the console itself, so they may simply be planning on upgrades to the existing switch as opposed to a whole new switch.

I feel like a “switch 2” is not needed. The switch is already doing incredibly well and the idea of a better switch is just unnecessary. If they’re making a new console then I would rather them make a revolution rather than an evolution of an existing console
My proposal for a switch successor: Nintendo Attach & Switch
Hardware Spec:
Power: about equivalent 2013 version PS4/Xbox one or steam deck, 1.5 tflops portable and 2 tflops docked
Graphics: 1080p30/720p60 OLED handheld, 1440p30/1080p60 docked
Same cartridge slot except with a piece missing, allows for switch compatibility but new game can’t fit in switchs’ cartridge slot
7” version sold for $349, with a mini version(5.5”) that have LCD for $299
From factor/gimmicks:
A screen and 2 joy-con similar to the switch
The joy-con is modified to remove joy-con drift as well as the addition of pointer control
The new joy-con have a mechanism to swap out the directional button for a D-pad(included) and swap out the main button for a GCN layout(layout piece sold separately)
The switch screen also have a piece of slide rail at the top, allowing the new dock(which is sliced into) to show the screen of the switch
The top slide rail of the attach & switch can also let the switch ‘attach’ other accessories(sold separately)
e.g.
A screen accessories to put on top of it for a DS-like experience but can also be held separately with plugged in joy-con for a more Wii U like one
A front/rear camera + microphone accessories allows for AR stuff but also can be used separately with the kickstand for motion tracking/allowing the game to work when docked
A 3D screen accessories for everything the regular screen accessories do but also have a 3D slider to allow for stereoscopic 3D
A plastic piece allows for VR experience(not as great as PS/Xbox)
Software/Switch Online:
Street pass is coming back, this time used the joy-con to track steps and stuff using the motion sensor
The attach & switch have more software features like Wii, Wii U, DSi and 3DS
A photo app for some photo editing
A sound app for play around with recorded audio
A world news app similar to the Wii
A weather app
A camera app
Mytendo: a upgraded Mii with clothing support
Nintendoverse: Nintendo’s take on the metaverse, which allows for interaction for your Mytendo and also chat with others with picture, share flip note and have game community. This time with ai assisted filtering
Switch online is altered to have 2 tiers
P2P online is now free
Base tier for $29.99 for NES, SNES, sega genesis, master system, N64, Gameboy and GBA games alongside dedicated servers
Expansion pack for $39.99 for GCN, Dreamcast and DS games at launch, with Wii and 3DS later
From my perspective I would buy a Switch two if it was as powerful as a ps4. Lots more third parties could make games for it and Nintendo would not be so restricted in what they are making. If they got like six excellent first party games and a few great ports I think it would kick ass.
@@atb8660 Nintendo will do the bare minimum for graphics and they knew they can save cost not to include neural cores and have no DLSS or Ray Tracing. I think “Maintaining features & functionality” and “creating new innovation” are not mutually exclusive. 3DS shown that. The best way they can do a new console is to:
- Maintain the hybrid functionality, backward compatibility and carry over the virtual console catalog of switch online
- Get rid of the switch branding altogether, only minor indication is needed. Naming it switch 2 or super switch may confuse people
- Introduce a new innovation that work alongside hybrid. For example, the concept of attachment.
I want to tell that none of the games that released or are going to be relased aren't ports. Their remakes, with 1 upcoming one being a remaster.

Good video. I agree that bad marketing was only a portion of the failure of the WiiU. The main problem was it is a shallow gimmick, that was constantly looking for a cool application which never came. Third parties gave up fast and it was an underpowered console with a weird controller that could display a mini-map. The switch is just a better console with a great elevator pitch, this is device that allows you to play tripe A games anywhere. It also looks great, unlike the WiiU which looks like a fisher price tablet for a toddler.
I’m gonna be real, if the next console fails, I just hope the games are good like the GameCube Era
I don't think the Switch 2 will sell as much as the Switch. But it will still sell well. And there are a few reasons why. First of all, the Switch 2 is going to be a handheld. Nintendo handhelds are always a success. Another reason is that it is the first console to come out with a Pokemon game in the first year, there are a lot of people who only buy a handheld to play Pokemon. And the last reason is that Sony and Microsoft are on fire. there are so few competitors for Nintendo that they don't have to worry about the other companies

@@SwitchStop I'm tired of open world game after open world game. Honestly an open world game can be so good but big long title after big long title it gets exhausting if it's overdone. And I feel open world is just an overdo e niche at this point. Not a bad one but balance between open world and not open world. I'm just on open world burnout at this point. So I say it again bring on the ports or bring on the new non open world games for a bit.

Somewhat of impact it did sell 17 million in 2019 and 19 million in 2023 and is still on track for another 17 this year. I think the second point is accurate there is more competition now, however they have the opportunity to position themselves as the best hybrid console with the best first party line up. Whether it will succeed, time will tell

Nintendo doesn't realize it is not necessary to try to be better than sony or Microsoft in the console wars...and no matter what they try it they can't make a system more powerful than Microsoft but as a Switch owner i chose the switch because it has unique qualities that other brands don't besides the low price i don't expect a sequel system to it... it's fine the way it is the economy just sucks and nothing Nintendo does can change the economy but i love Nintendo switch i say cancel switch 2 as people are still buying games on Nintendo consoles still

This is gonna depend a lot on what the launch games and window games look like, and what the new leadership pushes. This all said, Nintendo is fucking trash when it comes to maintaining momentum and they're letting the Switch lose virtually all momentum pushing out the next console so long. They should've launched it the year the Switch fell below 20M annual units sold. They gave too much time for the early adopters and early majority to move on. Now they have to deal with the increasing popularity of the Steam Deck and the increasingly popular mobile PCs like the ROG Ally and Lenovo Legion Go. More competition, competition that outperforms them and are allowing access to Steam and other online libraries that they can build up for years and will last for generations to come. Competition is good and pushes innovation, but Nintendo probably settled their specs and the such long before these foothold competitors proved to be actual competition, since they need 2-3 years to develop the games for the launch of the console.
Being in a time period where your momentum is slowing down while competition is heating up going into a new generation is a horrible spot to be in. Nintendo can still do well, but they've set themselves up to be at a marketing disadvantage going into this next gen cycle, and if they don't have something outstanding to set themselves apart from their competition, Nintendo will be in a very rough spot. It's so easy to make a tower of cards fall, so Nintendo needs to be bold and confident with how they play their hanafuda cards going into this new console generation. They need to make sure they land right on note with what brought them so much love and business this generation
