- *I'm using "Ports" as a catch-all for Ports, Remakes, and Remasters in the thumbnail. I use a new word in the video, but for the sake of simplicity in the thumbnail and title I went with Ports.
Let’s go through the history of ports, remakes, and remasters. The good instances, the bad instances, and their overall effect on the gaming industry. And when I say gaming industry, I mean Nintendo. This is a Nintendo channel.

Somehow I read out every price wrong in this video 😂. If I say 5.99, I mean 59.99. I'm so dumb 🤦🏻♂
What's good love your vids
Bruh I wish Nintendo games were 5.99 cheaper than they already are let alone it actually being 5.99
Np❤
I mean if they were all $5.99 I’d buy most if not all to them even if they weren’t even enhanced. But I get number confused too so I understand.
Who cares about saying something wrong because your videos are so GOOD
I honestly really like that a lot of older games are coming to switch. Given many are really expensive on the second-hand market as well as that you can easily take them on the go, it's a great option for people like myself who have never played the originals!
Very true
Yep or even if people had played them before, maybe they went off to school and their parents sold everything off so they no longer have it.

Exactly, I’m glad Nintendo is remaking a lot of its old games from the Wii U which is never played as well so it will really help me, especially as someone who’s getting a Switch and basically getting reconnected with Nintendo again.
No….at that point just buy a pc and emulate…..
Few thoughts:
1. Like you said before some ports are worth it and some aren’t depending on the quality and price.
2. I’m glad we don’t have a GameCube Service online and would prefer Nintendo just porting and remaster GameCube Games.
3.Futhermore I wish we could get more ports and remaster of N64, and a few Gameboy games.
i think the next console should bring back the virtual console thing or whatever it is
The switch is my first ever nintendo console, and yet i am dedicated on exploring everything nintendo forward, porting old games helps a lot experiencing those games i never had the chance to try, for example the 3D all stars and the wii U ports
pikmin 1+2 were even more worth it because of the control fix such as delayed whistling and throwing
Mario U Deluxe did not add new levels.
I’m gonna explain what I’ve always believed a remake and remaster are. A remake is remade (at least mostly) from like the ground up for new hardware (think for instance Mario 64 and Mario 64 DS) whereas a remaster is more like taking the existing game and like upscaling it and such and sometimes adding new continent and such. And I feel like ports are mostly just the same game being out on a different console and not much if anything done to it.
Thank god someone didn’t call Metriod Prime REMASTERED a remake….
A lot of games being ports is fine in my opinion, I just wish that they had more effort put in. Some are good, like SM3DW adding a whole new game mode and Xenoblade DE remaking everything from music to visuals to UI while also adding a separate story.
But then you have NSMBU deluxe
At least nsmbudx added the luigi U dlc, and a new character/power up, plus nabbit in the base game
if it didn't include luigi u, the price would be awful
but like it's basically 2 games with quality of life improvements to both
Pokemon black and white remake are almost 100% confirmed by riddler khu i know it's technically a rumor but riddler khu is probably the best leaker ever
1:14 New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe unfortunately does not have any new levels. The only new content is Toadette, the Super Crown power-up with Toadette's Peachette form, the ability to play as Nabbit in New Super Mario Bros. U in addition to New Super Luigi U where he was previously only available in and the ability to choose any character as player 1 in story mode. The ability to have both Toad colours at once in multiplayer, Boost Mode and the Boost Mode challenges were removed. The title 'New Super Mario Bros. U *Deluxe'* is quite misleading.
Yeah, don't know how you manage to pick the worst example, the one port that was a net downgrade, to be your example of a good port. You also forgot about another downgrade, that being mid-air twirl being mapped to the jump button and requiring a code to be inputted every time on the title screen to remove it.
@@ElectriKong- I don't consider that a downgrade as I find the midair twirl being additionally mapped to A being useful, but I agree it's disappointing how those who don't want it have to input a specific code on the title screen to disable it.
I like old games I never played coming to switch it gives me the chance to lay them
i missed out on the wii u and stuck with the 3ds during that era. so most of the wii u ports on here were my first play through. my personal favorite ones are mario kart 8 and 3d world
I don't think they are a bad thing, i think some of them are great. like Mario 3D World+ Bower's fury, though some shouldn't be $60 imo if they don't add much new things.
Remakes we need:
Animal Crossing (2001)
Mario Galaxy 2 (2010)
Mario RPG (SNES App)
Luigi’s Mansion (2001)
Mario Kart All Games
NSMBWii (2009)
My first time watching and I love watching you
Here's my thoughts. So obviously, lotta remakes right now... because like they're OBVIOUSLY gearing up for an entirely new console, so it makes sense to do these for the climax of the Switch's life. But I think here's my main note, about the whole 25% thing. There are SO MANY first party games on Switch compared to the Wii U. This percentage still leaves you with so many original, incredible games to play. Especially with the more recent ones, TTYD, Mario RPG, the Pikmins, Metroid Prime, these games people have begged for for ages, I really can't see it as a bad thing.
"Music moved from cds to digital", except those soundtracks that didn't. There are even certain tv series and or movies that were left behind on VHS, Betamax, or even Lazer Disc. Some series also never had official home video releases meaning you'd be lucky if someone recorded it to vhs.
personally i have a feeling that your view of having every single game backwards compatible or emulated on one console is a complete oversimplification of how the market works. some people may argue that theres no good reason for games not to be included when theres at least SOMEONE who is willing to buy it, but it is a much more complicated process than you may think, and sometimes companies dont want their games to be rereleased for whatever reason. its exactly why super mario rpg isn't on nintendo switch online, its because it would harm the sales of a remake. even if a company isn't planning a remake it needs to be thought out extremely carefully.
If there's a strong demand for Super Mario 3D All-Stars, they could bring this back for the Switch 2.
back after a long time
Game cube are too big for Switch Online Wii, you have to adjust the motion controls for the Joy Con and DS and 3DS, you need 2 screens
I wonder how you can make systems backwards compatible with the Wii u?
The wii U had has good games such as mario 3D world, mario kart 8, pikmin 3 and donkey kong that where all held back by the wii u. Now they are better gameplay wise on the switch
Are you guys gonna change the channel name/branding if the next system isn’t considered part of the switch family? Obviously it’ll be a hybrid system but it might not carry the switch branding
Im glad the wii u ports are on switch, cause it gives people who never owned a wii u a chance to play the games, just imagine if Nintendo did not bring those games over to switch
Exactly and I agree with you!
Why the hell are Pikmin 1 and 2 combined? They’re very different. and have different icons on the home screen. If it’s because they’re in a bundle, then every Pokémon game (games with actual minimal differences and SHOULD be bundled) are the same game. Yet Sword and Shield are separated?
Honestly I think the only worth the price Wii U ports
Were
Mario kart 8dx
3d world
That’s honestly pretty sad
Honestly, I came in late to the Mario Party, so buying these ports, remastered, and remade games is a good idea for me, and just like you said, I can play some of these games for the first time
Hey, I'm the kind of guy who wants to have all my games on one system. I think having all these classics on the Switch is satisfying, and I'm hoping the next system has backwards compatibility.
Eh I still wanted a new Mario kart for switch….
id say mario vs dk isnt worth more than metriod prime but because its mario nintendo will push it to be worth more make it seem more premium
Considering most of the games I play on Switch are Wii U ports, I find this to be a good thing. I'm especially glad that they ported 3D World since Odyssey wasn't really my type of game, and I'm also glad they ported Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze since I never got it on Wii U and now that I've played it on Switch it made me realize how much I was missing out on this masterpiece of a game.
And I know people complain about the Wii U ports, but Nintendo was in a unique situation where they went from their worst selling console to their best selling console ever.
Why wouldn’t Nintendo use those games to bolster the Switch’s library when even the best selling Wii U game sold to an equivalent of 6.5% of Switch’s sold.
I guarantee Nintendo would have done the same going from GameCube to Wii if the Wii’s controls weren’t so dramatically different.
I recon nobody would be upset if we paid 5.99 for all these games
Saying that Nintendo shouldn't re-release their past catalogue to make their classics available to young people today is like saying that Universal Music shouldn't re-release the Beatles albums anymore.
New games should strive to be as good as the old ones. Competition is a good motivator, so I hope they keep releasing old stuff alongside the new. And by the way, any Beatles album costs the same as a new album by a new artist. Good things cost money, and I have no problem with that.
I think the switch online emulators should’ve just been listed as full games and received updates with the games
That’s life in general, everything is a remake of a remake.
Gamcube nso will roobably never haoorn because N64 is the last real gen to have games be ezclusively Megabytes. During the gamecube era games could go over 1 gigabyte and since NSO makes you download a whole library worth it would easily be nintendos biggest game/app. Will about 10 games it would be near the size of botw.
Even as a WiiU owner, I still buy WiiU games on Switch.
where is Yoshi's Wooly World?
For a bad port take a look at sonic colors ultimate
I think we’re done with ports especially with the massive amount of ports we recently got
the worst is fe1(the nes game) being ported to switch and time limited
I'm surprised it's not part of the Nintendo Switch Online already. It's already translated like Earthbound Beginnings.
@@fullmetalgamer6062 it is, of the japanese nso
if switch 2 does not have backwards compatibility im not buying it
5:30 You said $5.99. I'm sure you meant $59.99.
Good
I feel like all Switch games are ports, remasters, remakes and sequels. Can someone recommend a unique Switch exclusive?
Xenoblade Chronicles 3. I can keep going too but you just said "a unique Switch exclusive", not multiple.
If you’re talking new IPs, try out Astral Chain or ARMS.
Adding sequels is disingenuous because franchises are more prevalent on every console than ever before.
Luigi’s mansion 3
Nso should have download play
Roses are red violets are blue my comments are booed
Personally I don’t mind ports, but the pure laziness and amount of them makes me not play the them

Nope. I won
No on the newest comment I am on the bottom
