This is a good version, but the original is AMAZING.
The song is about an outlaw and his girl trying to outrun a posse. He refuses to go back to Texas with the posse to face whatever justice for what he'd done, so he decided to stand his ground and fight or die. He was taken out, Seven Spanish angels took him home (to heaven), so she prayed to God to forgive her, because she picked up an empty rifle to cause the posse to shoot her too and send her to be with her man. Seven Spanish Angels then took her home as well.
"She reached down and picked the gun up
That lay smokin' in his hand
She said, "Father please forgive me
I can't make it without my man"
And she knew the gun was empty
And she knew she couldn't win
But her final prayer was answered
When the rifles fired again
AND, on a side note, Allyson and Keith Whitley duet is the best. It is Keith Whitley's song (When you say nothing at all) that she covered many years after his death, but there is a version where the two were merged on the song, it is great.
Willie and Ray’s performance of this song is so good.

Nothing makes me happier than watching new folks discover Jamey Johnson. I'm 33 years old and unfortunately when I go see him live, I'm usually one of the youngest people at the show. Most of his music will probably never be requested for you for reactions, so I highly recommend checking out his albums in your personal time. I promise you won't be disappointed. As for some good reaction material, I'd suggest "Between Jennings and Jones", "My Saving Grace", "My Home's In Alabama" live, "If I Needed You", "Mowing Down The Roses." The list could go on and on, but those are some of his more popular songs. Thank-you for the reactions and enjoy the heck outta this rabbit hole 🙂 Discovering an artist like Jamey for the first time doesn't happen very often..

Not only does Willie and Ray have Seven Spanish Angels together, but they also have the underrated Sinatra cover It Was A Very Good Year. That was Rays final album Genius Loves Company which has some other wonderful underrated hits.
I find it fascinating that Alison Krause has won 27 Grammy’s. The only woman who has won more is Beyoncé. She is the 4th in the list of most Grammy’s won. But you should fall down her rabbit hole. Not only is her voice fantastic, her fiddling skills are incredible.

The line that Allison sang was 'When the RIFLES fired again'. The movie that plays in my head during this song... an outlaw, with his woman by his side, are on the run from a posse. they crossed the Rio Grande river into Mexico... but the posse caught up to them and forced a final showdown... he gets shot and killed.... and she, not wanting to live without him, picks up his gun, knowing it was out of ammunition, and pointed it at the posse, who not knowing it was empty, shot and killed her....
It is in Mexico back in the old west!!!!

Krauss has a great voice for this song - it's like hearing an angel. And Jamey's voice is so masculine, they go great together. Ray & Willie made magic on this song- Ray had an extensive Country & Western career. Love this song - a tribute to the longing of love and freedom. As a songwriter, I think Jamey really focuses on the lyrics, which I like. Traditionally this is considered a song about an outlaw and his love. in my head, this is from the time before Texas was part of the U.S. Have you reacted to "Whiskey Lullaby"? Krauss takes Sad Duet to new levels.

I met Allison when I was 8 years old at a bluegrass festival we walked by and I asked my dad if that was the angel voice lady...he said yeah son and she told me I was cute gave me a hug and her and the cox family gave us signed pictures

You should check out Alison Krauss with Union Station live. The lineup from the early 2000's with Jerry Douglas is one of the best live bands I've ever seen. The 2002 live in Louisville show is amazing. I love the song, "Forget About it," but the whole show is great.

Hi, I love your channel! I would love you to do a first reaction to Earth Wind & Fire "Reasons" from their "Gratitude" album. It's the best live performance recording of this song. It's only audio, and there are video recordings of the song (which a lot of reactions do to) as well as the original album version, but this one is the best version, which if you hear you will understand why. At that time EW&F were jamming on stage so every time they played songs it sounded different, but this version is perfection beyond words. If you already know this version, can you do a reaction on the live video? All version are different, but again the version from Gratitude is unique. The words are so powerful, the music is so enchanting, and Philip Baily's voice is perfection. This specific version supersede any other version online.
The album also has "New World Symphony" - it's long, it's completely instrumental, but if you never heard it, it's simply going to take you to places you never felt before with music. I promise you. Both "Reasons" and "New World Symphony" are the highest pick of EW&F as a band and as live musicians. You heard the crowd reaction to confirm it. People who saw EW&F live described their shows as a spiritual experience. It is. "Gratitude" is my favourite live album ever.
