Shrinkflation IS a big deal. I work in a grocery store and the price of groceries going up while the packages get smaller, severely impacts people. Elderly people on fixed incomes and low income families are really hurting.
dont cry too hard for them, those are the same people who repeatedly voted the rich industry puppets into power who in turn denied them humane wages, costumer protection, affordable healthcare, decent social security and other protection which would save them from minor inflation for food ... such consumer exploitation is the just reward for decades of ignorance and inaction, one should hope that those poor choices finally impact people in a way that hurts ... clearly just offering arguments isnt enough to teach the common consumer.

Ronny, 'shrinkflation' not as simple as "2 less chips"; real families trying to make ends meet are getting less food for their money; it's the sneakiest, most despicable trick that giant food corporations are using to trick consumers. Your packaging stays the same; you pay the same or more but you receive considerably less! It's not trivial.

A big part of the problem with our entire economy is shareholders. Companies used to be judged on how well off their employees were. Now they are judged by how well off their shareholders are, and shareholders care about nothing about constant increased profit. Now employees are paid horribly and treated like dirt, consumers are treated as an afterthought, and everything possible is done to increase short term profit for the insatiably greedy shareholders.
I wish more people would understand this and act accordingly.

While shrinkflation is a problem, can we hear about greedflation in the State of the Union? Some reports seem to suggest close to half of recent inflation is just companies raising prices just because they can get away with it. Don't blame the economy if some things cost more, because a big part of it is just companies increasing prices because they can.
That's what price gouging is and he plans on talking about it. He said both in the video, they just focused on shrinkflation here for the laughs
When you want to identify the corporate kunts who gouge you, just look at the historic record profits the oil companies made during Covid!!!!
The lack of traffic, i.e oil use, was so great animal life around the world was beneficially effected, and pollution dropped.
Yet without selling gas or petrol, whatever you want to call it, these companies profits reached historic levels.
Start with Exxon, Shell, BP, and Chevron.
Shrinkflation is one strategy of greedflation.

EDIT: I only used this example because it was so public & more recent. DJT has a long history of bigotry, & so did his Father. I only ask Black USA Citizens, to research the business & political dealings of each candidate, DJT & Biden, & decide which one of them cares anything, at all, about you. In reality, all of us need to ask ourselves that question.

Well you’re right but also it’s kind of the same thing. Generally misinformation is just incorrect information, while disinformation is intentionally false information. However, the dictionary has updated the term misinformation to basically include the concept of disinformation in its own definition since it is the more common word. The definition straight from Oxford is “false or inaccurate information, especially that which is deliberately intended to deceive”

Josh's stand up is basically a late night talk show style, current events monolog. It wouldn't surprise me if he ended up hosting his own show, someday, he already has the skills.
I love Josh Johnson! I've been following him for a couple years now and I knew he was going to blow up! I've never seen a comedian who can take modern events and turn them into polished routines in less than 24 hours the way he can.

Exactly. The problem with shrinkflation now is that majority of items never came back down on price AND then got shrunk, a person just trying to keep their family stocked on basics and essentials can't last anymore between 2 weeks because of it. I thought that was sad that they treated it like it was entirely frivolous. Still a funny show though
