  • The Victorian Era was an era of prosperity for elites where different types of fashion, literature and ideals spread across the planet in many countries, hence a unique era for those whom survived the Age of Revolution, in Spain instability from the end of the Peninsular War and foreign intervention by France (Napoleonic and Bourbon) and the Holy Alliance would cause over a century of revolution, civil war and unrest that would see Spain go through different regimes, ultimately Spain would be ruled by the Second Spanish Republic in the end, but the Political Violence never died, culminating the Spanish Civil War and the tragedies that came after the war.

Not bad man but between 1871 and 1873, those green rebelions were cantonal rebelions, in the sense that they seeked a Spanish confederation (Swiss style), not just a federation (American style)

Fun fact, the political climate in Spain at the time was dominated by only 2 parties that shared power ad infinitum, defending particular interests that were in fact those destroying spanish economy. Against this, a lot of regions tried to seek a different answer (Basque country seeked autonomous rights, Catalonia seeked independence, the colonies seeked more local/military control,...) In the case of Andalousia, the poorest region in the country, Bandoleros were formed, ane they would rob rich landlords to redistribute wealth. This figure and mindset has been in andalousian minds ever since, and it explains partly why Andalousia is one of the most left wing regions in the country.
