Dude is an actor that has the funds to buy security. For many Americans the gun is security. To hell with this tyrant. An armed society wouldn’t have these shootings. NY gun laws are directly correlated to the vastly higher crime rates.

I am one of those passionate people. I saw how corrupt management was in the company I worked for and desired that I could do better. As I began to do the things necessary to get into management, I began to see how passionate people like me are separated out to keep us out. My immediate realization after the speech was this: actors are now the peoples representatives. The congress, the house of reps, the president, the courts, the police officers all of them wont listen and do what the people want. Our governing body is no longer of, by and for the people. It takws an actor to represent and relay what the common person thinks and wants done. He is speaking on our behalf. This is truly a fucked up late stage capitalist hellscape. Passing laws, policies, that protect local citizens isn't seen as a sign of progress. Politicians only listen to corporate interests and rich private donors.

We already have background checks and some states(with the highest gun violence) have 21 age restrictions. We don't stop this with gun laws that take away regular people's rights to self protection. We can help more people have safer lives by, better trained police, better trained staff at schools and other "gun free zones" and better mental health over all in our society. But you can not limit all 340 millions citizens right to protect themselves because you are sad.
There is no middle ground for the side who wants our rights. You can't let something as heart breaking as these events convince you to do horrible things. Red flag laws and other such laws treat people like criminals till they prove otherwise, the opposite of our rights to a fair trial.
I do not have an answer, but I know that event took one man with a gun and the moral fortitude to stop it. He had no obligation or right to enter that school armed but he did, when the police wouldn't, and he stopped that deranged predator. To me that sounds like more armed men like him would be better.

This should not even be a political issue but a basic human right; to feel safe at home. At work or school. To not have to constantly look over your shoulder because our Government would rather argue than protect the lives of the people it is meant to serve.
The fact this has been going on for as long as it has is incomprehensible and despicable.

We don’t protect anything, especially ourselves by leaving it up to others. Our protection, and the protection of our children is entirely our responsibility. The fallacy is that we look to the government to be that protection. Be vigilant in every moment and protect with every tool available.

So you think that training the killer would have made things better? *gulp*
He passed multiple background checks, just like the buyer of every single new gun sold in this country.
IMO, the questions to ask are "What signs were missed?". "Were there any signs at all?". Sometimes there will not be. There probably were in this case. Assaulting others and hurting animals has been reported.
Psychopaths are great at appearing normal and even playing the victim. This killer's neighbor actually felt sorry for him because "His mother picked on him. His grandmother picked on him. EVERYONE picked on him". Turns out, HE was the problem.
In the bigger picture, we ARE releasing known violent criminals back onto the street with a slap on the wrist and then breathlessly reporting it when they shoot up an entire city block of people with an illegal gun. That describes a huge percentage of our so-called "gun problem", about 50 times greater than all random mass shooters combined.
      I suggest we start there.

Because an automobile isn't required to protect your soverignity, safety, and family. It was literally ARMED parents who stopped this tragedy. Armed parents who were held back by the police, the very government you want to put total faith in, and it was those same police who literally sat outside while children were being slaughtered. The police have no legal obligation to protect you, that is a SCOTUS decision. You claim to not be politically motivated, yet it is your very political biases that sees a solution like this and think the solution is to disembowel the very strength which allowed people stop this massacre.
And look at all this arrogance in the face of being manipulated. They are putting this girl's corpse on display to invoke you. They are, by their own words, "making her death matter". Well, how about that. I am so happy we can make a human being such a powerful message. I am glad we will take her shoes to the white house to dangle in front of all our voters.
It's easy to look at problems and say "This is the solution." Especially when you have powerful emotions to back it. But the data is consistent. Guns save more lives than they take and you are too blinded by recent events to actually think sincerely about these issues. Even if the laws from this tragedy were to pass, you know what would change? Storage laws and magazine sizes. That's it. You would add a charge to parents who's child broke into their gun safes. That's. All.
