It's violence period and the people we should be angry at are every single government official. We have the ability to make our schools safe but refuse to. It's not about guns. It's about fortifying our schools instead of making them victim zones. Ask yourself this question, if you were a robber and saw a house with a sign that said "anti gun/gun free zone" and a house that said "I fire warning shots in the head/we don't dial 911" which house would you rob? We have turned schools into a free for all for CRIMINALS to commit atrocities instead of making them a safe space for our children. This is all by design. I'll say this as well, if you are appalled by this tragedy and want something to be done to protect children but are also pro abortion, you are a liar and a part of the problem in this country. I don't care what political party you belong to. Both are evil and do not care about anything but power, control and their personal wealth. This is a battle between good and evil. Not a political issue. Either we put in place protections for our children or we make them an easy target. Right now our "public" aka Government ran school systems are easy targets. They have made it this way. If you truly care about the safety of children and making schools safe, do something about it. Make them aware that you are fed up and allow your conscience to override your political indoctrination. Trained and armed security personnel and teachers would put a stop to this crap. Why is it that active shooters always seem to choose predominantly "gun free" zones? Because they know they have zero resistance and can commit whatever evil deeds they wish in these areas. I for one will be homeschooling my children going forward because I do not trust any government officials to do what's right and take the necessary steps to protect our children.

No, he isn't. The "90% support background checks" line is factually false or at least misleading. His claim that HR8 would prevent future shootings is also not true. His claim that Republicans get more power by voting against gun control makes no sense.
His father was killed in Lebanon (where it’s not legal to own guns). The American gun laws had no relevance, and clearly the killers didn’t care about Lebanon’s gun laws.

EDIT: Yes, some background checks exist, but there are legal loopholes that allow gun purchases without a background check, like purchasing at a gun show. We need to close the loopholes with UNIVERSAL background checks. Would it have stopped this tragedy? No. Would it help prevent future tragedies? Without a doubt. There’s no single answer to this problem. 2nd EDIT: Buying a gun at a gun show, at least in Texas, is considered a private sale, so background checks are not required. Call it what you want, but I want background checks for every gun purchase. And for the record, I’m a licensed concealed carry card holder, even though you don’t have to be licensed in Texas anymore to carry concealed, and I own a number of guns.

2 days for an 18yr old to buy and receive 2 AR15s and 300+ round of ammunition is not a functioning society and it needs to stop. I don't care what legislation is mentioned or specific to XYZ scenarios. It is too easy to get a gun in this country and it's farcical to suggest making it harder would do nothing so let's not even bother. Or that it would prevent the public from rebeling against some hypothetical doomer future government tyranny.
But remember, he also conveniently fails to bring up that less than two years ago, he led a successful movement to get police removed from the school system in Oakland, one of the most violent cities in the country. And one thing that the tragedy in Texas teaches is how insane that move was. Imagine if even one cop had been there at the school when the shooter arrived. Maybe no one would’ve been killed. And look at what stopped the massacre - a border patrol agent who arrived at the scene.
Yet because he’s been super woke for so long, the media is covering up his past activism, which has put students in greater danger.
Kerr is grossly ignorant on political matters. His success in basketball came because he was a good player and is now a great coach. It had nothing to do with any political knowledge. But the NBA is an extreme woke culture, and he craves the applause of that crowd, so he continually makes brash, ignorant comments that the media plays widely as if he’s some kind of revolutionary. That mass attention and praise gives him a grossly overblown sense of self importance.
Just analyze this rambling, emotional, knee jerk, tirade. He doesn’t say a word about the lack of security at this and many other schools, the epidemic of absent fathers, widespread mental illness, or the over prescription of psychiatric drugs. In other words, he didn’t say a word about what makes one human being want to kill another.
Instead, he focuses only on guns, as that’s all that the left focuses on in response to tragedies such as these - as if all you have to do is ban these guns and things like this won’t happen, which is simply not true. Banning an item doesn’t mean that the item no longer exists, or that it will even be hard to obtain. As many laws as this guy broke - including killing his grandmother - I suspect that had he been denied a gun purchase at a store, he would’ve found a gun in the black market.
Regardless, even if we ban certain guns, or all guns, some people will still have them or get them, and we will still need good security at schools.
His strong support of a so called “background check” is probably based on blind faith more than anything else. I’ve never seen any evidence that such procedures make much difference.
Finally, his claim that the bill is being held hostage by the Republicans is pure ignorance. The Democrats control both houses of Congress and the presidency. They can pass the bill without one Republican vote.

My exact thoughts on our situation. So sick of the moments of silence and condolences that we have to offer every few days. The saddest article on Wikipedia is on mass shootings in the United States. It has a list that is updated daily. There is a mass shooting practically every week. No matter how you feel about freedom, gun control or AR15s, you can admit that something is very very wrong right now.

There's every bit of TRUTH and PAIN in Steve's speech. Change has to happen. I'm no American, but my sympathies goes to the parents, loved ones who lost their kids, teacher in this another gloomy day. RESPECT for Steve Kerr, but most importantly RESPECT the lives of others.
Why does everyone think this is a government problem? It's not. It's a local problem, that every community has to address at the micro level. You think one federal law is going to heal all these teens? Wake up. The federal government isn't creating these deranged teenagers. Gun control is not the solution. They'll steal a gun. As a non-American, I am not legitimate to give a moral lesson or opinion on gun laws or the way your country is run. But as a father of four children, I can feel the pain and despair of all those bereaved families in your country, week after week. And I want to say my respect to Mr. Kerr for using his popularity to send a message to your politicians. His pain and anger should be shared by every human being, regardless of nationality and social class.
As an American let me educate you, this fool is acting emotional to demonize conservatives who respect the 2nd ammendment. I didn't see guys like him talking this way when Black lives matter acted up during the summer of 2020. More people died from that then this shooting. More people die in Chicago every weekend than the lives that were lost in this tragic school shooting. Also important to note is how Chicago has some of the toughest gun laws in the entire U.S.

@@BestBallStrategy it’s not just a background check. That alone is just not enough, but it comes with some safety thresholds, like minimum age (this still very debated on, but ranging from 21 to 25). That does make a difference.
