My quick day 1 impressions of the latest UMVC3 character mods. It's a good day to be a Marvel fan.

I love that Marvel 3 has been given new life with mods. It's like free DLC made by fans.
Just wait until they figuring out how to extend the roster itself.

That's what mods are essentially, free DLC from fans.
I'm honestly baffled as to why Cyclops never appeared again past MvC2. He was such a staple of the pre-MvC era for Capcom-Marvel collabs and was extremely prominent in the MvC2 competitive scene in addition to being one of the most iconic (and underappeciated) mutants in Marvel history
This is was the time when cyclops was getting fucked over
Same thing could be said about Infinite with Xmen characters
A lot of MvC3's (and UMvC3/MvC:I) characters were picked in coordination with Marvel because Marvel knew they had plans for them. (see: Dr. Strange, Rocket Racoon) The X-Men, not so much at the time due to the Fox situation, so they shifted away from them, with the ones who got in either being the flagship character (Wolverine) , MvC2 Top Tiers (Storm/Magneto/Sentinel), with them also picking X-23, a popular new comics-only character, and Jean Grey/Phoenix, who had never gotten into a fighting game like the other OG X-Men.
Hey, I was pissed that they introduced Cable in MvC2 and then removed him in 3! Cable was LEGIT!
It's because of some legal copyright mumbo jumbo and corporate bureaucracy
Also in development according to the modders: Gambit and Juri. So the hits keep coming baby.
Man it’s a good thing Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 exists for these Marvel models.
@@Gamermario-lb3rq With MUA3 you could make an entire roster just with those models. You can get old Marvel 2 veterans (Iceman, Cable, Colossus), most wanted by fans (Blade, Daredevil, Moon Knight, Nightcrawler), and even some oddballs (Elsa, Morbius, Spider-Gwen). The matter would be to find the right animations, and to come up with proper movesets, unless you look at Mugen characters.
Juri is one of my most wanted MvC characters this is insane!
Any news on Captain Commando and Jin?
@@chwenhoou I know Jin got back-burnered because the modders were unhappy with how his animations were coming out, and especially causing really bad clipping errors.
No idea on Commando, though I know Tabs is a big fan of his.
Can't wait to see the fully converted character select screen too.

There's something about DMC1 Dante lacking speedy shenanigans yet still packing oomph in his hits that speaks to me. That shotgun SFX is just the icing on the cake.
Just when we thought Vergil couldnt be more OP, they gave him the whole Beowulf moveset and it looks incredible!
If you look at more of the footage, they gave him twin swords too for one of his supers

I share this thought with almost every cool fan addition that comes out for anything man. It's crazy how much amazing stuff the community puts out and I can't help but feel, as Max said, "spoiled" just bearing witness to the stuff everybody comes up with.
This. Had the exact thought 2 years back when the first mod came out. And it's only gotten so much better...

I want someone to make War Machine over Iron Man using the missiles from Dr Doom and Morrigan's moves. And maybe bring over Winter Soldier from Marvel Infinite. That would be dope.

War Machine is completely doable and that surprises me.

@@SparkyDaHedgehog There's an issue with recreating his moveset per Tabs. Can't remember specifically, but War Machine was planned and then put on hold because of it.

They should give Cyclops a shoulder charge move to commemorate this event! Of him having shoulders.
Nah they gave him a command grab which he can combo off of. He doesn't need anything else lol
They should add in Maximo, it shouldn't be too hard. The only challenged is turning the Arthur model into a rush down and add in a sword for its melee attacks.
Now that is a name I haven't heard in a long time.
I would love to see Maximo again, one of my favorite PS2 games, I miss it
Dude, I would kill for this kind of dedication to revive MvC:I with mods. Imagine if they gave Chun-Li and Black Widow moves to Spider-Man and put in Spider-Gwen.
Bit of an extension, but they could bring a whole bunch of other characters too! Strider and Dante moves for Vergil, Black Panther and Venom for Wolverine, and Dormammu moves included for both Dr. Doom and Magneto! Just... Let's mod and make it happen. I'll be happy to do my part too, if requested.
I hope the can put the respective theme song for each modded character. That'd be awesome

I hope so too but knowing Disney they probably would do some copyright power move to stop this from happening given Evo is now a mainstream'ish event.

But TNS (Tong) and WNF (KevinHa) have already had Palette Swap tournaments and they're DOPE!
This will be amazing when you can add custom character select screens. With custom characters having there own portrait instead of overlapping existing characters.
To quote the modders - "It's possible, we just don't know how to it yet". But it's like the #1 undone feature at this point.
Dmc5 Vergil? I don't even have a way to play this but I'm still just as excited that this game keeps getting elevation. My favorite franchise of all time, couldn't be more happy

If they could make thanos look more like classic thanos than his infinite look. He will fit in so well with everyone else. But honestly I'm happy to see juri han coming but I need me VENOM!!!! GIVE ME BLUE VENOM!!!!

I genuinely cannot believe they managed to implement jump canceling. I’ve always wanted to see that implemented into a game and I never thought it would happen after Marvel essentially died with Infinite, and then Moders managed to implement it. Now I want a version of Dante and Vergil that has a bunch of actual DMC tech, Imagine inertia, guard flying, Lucifer in general, Judgement Cut cancels, even something as simple as gunrave (or raveshot if you prefer that name) would be crazy to have. Of course this’ll probably never happen but it’s fun to think about (imagine putting in DMC3 DT stun combos though).
Dante and Vergil are already broken dude sheesh
With these mods they revived UMVC3, imagine that the character selection screen can be modified to be able to add more spaces and be able to put the mods separately 😮
This is the #1 requested, unfulfilled feature. To quote the modders - "We know it can be done, but dunno how yet".

Side Note: I recently played _Star Gladiator 2_ (the game with Hayato) and it's FUCKING AWESOME. One of Capcom's most underrated fighting games, alongside Red Earth.
@@shawziiz5031 The Onimusha series if I recall is just a legal limbo, sans Dawn of Dreams. All the main characters are modeled from real actors(Samanosuke in particular). I personally wish Jubei would get a shot, but I think the only chance we'll get is if Soki returns again. I wished they brought him back instead of turning him into a card in UMvC3.

Seeing these mods make me ecstatic for the MVC community, imagine all the new characters, returning characters, maybe even one day commit a sin and make Capcom vs. DC or some shit, the potential is endless and it makes me want to learn how to do this shit!

Let's get a functional MegaMan X from MVCI now. You don't even need to import a model for it, Zero literally already has it.
I really hope for a future update where they can import mvci chars. X, Sigma, Ultron, Venom, Jedah are way too fun to not put them there. I personally love spiderm-man mvci since umvc3 one sucks, but it could be a start.
Whoever animated Psylocke’s Hyper Combos understood the exact kind of build-up and angling used in actual Marvel 3’s Hypers. So often they’re awkwardly paced or lacking dynamic posing but hers looked official!
Once again, the modding community carries the gaming torch. I wish I had the patience to learn how to do this stuff to help.
So happy to see Marvel 3 getting some love again. Bless you fan base!

This really feels like MSHvSF when you chose a character with Select and they transform into another characters. We really need "hidden characters" in all MvC games

Can you talk about the art work that was put into the intro of UMVC, theres an extended version of it that I feel like alot of people dont really know about. Love your work. Love that marvel is talk of the town and everything you do , I feel like its needed in the community right now. I appreciate you so much because your doing so much for a game that should praised by all.

@@Maury1321dFreitas Amingo is (I think) borderline impossible with now stuff is made for now. He's too unique, so nothing in the game could be re-used in a way that resembles his moves.

I got super into Smash Remix and UMVC3 at around the same time... So now seeing the latter getting mods like the former is just like reexperiencing the same magic again. Brings a hopeful tear.

The fact that they finally brought Phoenix into the series in MvC3 but then proceeded to leave out Cyclops will never not bug me. Seriously, if there was any title Scott should’ve been present for, it was the one that added Jean. But nope, Marvel told Capcom he was off-limits because of bullshit corporate reasons. As if he wasn’t already constantly getting fucked over in the comics back then.
Props to the creators of this mod for righting this wrong.

I want to see Silver Surfer, Spectrum, Blue Marvel, Juggernaut and Cable. Also some easier ones like US Agent, War Machine, Beta Ray Bill, Maestro and Spider-Man 2099.
Damn these guys are not only talented and hard working, they also have good freaking tastes.

These mods are proof that people want a _real_ Marvel vs Capcom 4 that has the roster, 3v3, roll back netcode, etc.
With this new characters "dreaming about a new MvsC with the X-men and Vergil return with his Dead Weight son" are possible "c'mon Capcom what are you waiting for"
Now all I want is Moon Knight and Jedah for the mods

M. Bison's Alpha 3 super is why I had to put that game down for years. It taught me a good lesson about playing on a difficulty of more than 4 stars.

I wouldn't be surprised if Capcom fighting games used a shared repository of assets and animations even across generations. It would explain why everything looks good retroactively, though obviously not perfect.
This amazing. Unfortunately we have to face reality Capcom will not be making another MVC game for a long time since the last one didn’t do not nearly as well. Which is a shame now that marvel owns a lot of their characters again.

I wish they’d add Gwenpool and or Lady Deadpool. That’ll be dope and pretty easy to do compared to what I’ve seen so far, I think.
You know , im perfectly fine when we can go back to older fighting games and have more content by the fans added .
I hope we get mods that bring pre-existing characters back up to snuff, or makes characters that never were that good actually useful.
Like as a Felicia player I really want some air mobility (air dash, double jump) and to return Toy Touch to how it was in Vanilla MvC3 - maybe also replace that god-awful A+S "evade but it doesn't actual evade anything" with something more like Dante's A+S but it more closely resembles the trajectory of her Vampire Savior "short hop" forward dash for some instant overhead shenanigans.
I'd also love to see She-Hulk and Tron Bonne back to their Vanilla MvC3 level of usefulness. And make Hsien-Ko and Arthur actually worth a damn, like Jesus they already needed a ton of buffs BEFORE all these god-tier custom characters came along.

Does Cyclops have his autocombo from the old games? I think it was foward, foward, and both light attacks.
dmc1 dante is AMAZING. its so faithful to dmc1.
I hope they animate Bison's cape in future. Also hope that Cyclops muscle definition on his legs is modelled rather than textured or they update the textures as it looks a bit off compared to the other characters.

All they need to do is tweak Cyclops' animations like the optic blast and his idle and he's damn near perfect
