I wear ear plugs, or muffs, or both, in every shooting video.
Even with an enhanced feed cone polishing the feed cone with Flits metal polish makes a huge improvement with feeding issues!
Love your videos, your site was also my first resource when building an ar9.
Enhanced feed cones are the way to go.
I polish my feed cone with mother rim polish and it takes hollow points with no problem. I repolish after I clean it just for gp.
Nice! I forgot to mention polishing - I'll add that to a video at the end with corrections and FAQ's.
Taccom Super Feed 9mm barrels have a lower feed ramp AND an upper feed guide. They feed 100% reliable every time. You will never get a failure to feed with one of these.
They are another good option for feeding, but some folks were having accuracy issues a little while back. I need to confirm that those issues were all cleared up.
Doug, can you do a video on enhancing a feed cone with a Dremel? Thinking of doing it on mine but would love to get your opinion/ technique first.
I need to do this soon....
I’m curious Doug. I am currently building a 11” with everything you’ve mentioned in previous videos. Only thing I’m adding is a suppresor. Have you done any testing with a can? Would you recommend heavier buffer weight (kynshoot - carbine set up)
I haven't done testing per se, but I do have a can. The suppressor adds backpressure, so extra mass does help with bolt velocity and felt recoil. After a few shots the gas overwhelms any gas mitigation put in place (gasbuster handles, gas deflectors, etc), so I don't bother.
Hey doug, Is the Macon armory mag catch the only one that will work for this problem? They seem to be out of stock unfortunately.
It's the only one I know about for the EPC-9 right now.
