  • The ATV UK print The Muppet Show ending with Danny Kaye, aired in the UK on December 25, 1978, this is the original version that it includes a different Statler and Waldorf box gag singing ''We Wish You a Merry Christmas'' with Kermit and the gang joining along with the song, reminding that this episode was originally aired during Christmas Day.
The US version and recent prints of this episode never used the original version and it also includes Kermit and Fozzie (portrayed as Santa Frog and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reinbear) promoting a James Bond film ''Diamonds Are Forever'' and a Morecambe and Wise Christmas Special that comes up next on selected ITV regions at the time.
With thanks to Evan The CrayonLove72 Hater for the US version and TELEVISION HEAVEN UK for the rare ATV endcap (with ITC copyright notice) and a promo with Kermit and Fozzie.

Statler: "There was something thrilling about being *in* the show tonight."
Waldorf: "Yep. Not having to *watch* it."

I wish The Muppet Show had an official Christmas episode. Also a Halloween episode, an April Fool's Day episode and an Easter episode.

The last bit with Kermit and Fozzie announcing is not owned by Disney but by ITV

Correct, especially when Kermit and Fozzie mentions the Christmas special of Morecambe and Wise during their years on ITV.
