Them talking about the relationship between us viewers and them being on this podcast alongside depression really hits cause idk if anyone else relates to this but I listen to these episodes whenever I’m alone, they help me stop thinking. They make me laugh. There is a genuine friendship I have with this podcast as a whole. As a rather introverted person, a friendship like this where there is no actual interaction, where I can enjoy genuine conversation without having to interact at all, is just what I need sometimes, especially when I’m depressed.

These guys are definitely akin to friends to me. I understand what garnt meant when he said the parasocial relationship isn't "real" but for us who watch it is real. As simple as watching 3 mates argue about bone or bone in chicken is that's more normality than a lot of us get during this crazy world under lockdown we've all had to deal with. These guys are like family friends to me and even if they don't know me like that I appreciate them and would treat them as such.

The part when the boys were talking about real mates/being emotionally vulnerable really hits home. I opened up to a few of my friends recently (for context the last time I did this I basically ended up being shunned and viewed as an attention seeker, realized now that wasn't normal) and they really were just accepting of me for who I am, not what I should be, really goes to show how much the people in your life really does affect your mood (not saying they always should but good company will always be good company)

Okay... since all other comments have been sharing how Trash Taste has been for them, then I'll go and share my story as well. Thank you guys, from the bottom of my heart! This podcast has been my lifeline in the past couple of months after going through a messy and painful heartbreak from an 8-year relationship. We both loved anime and manga, and occasionally gaming... so it was hard to experience those alone because something always triggers a memory. But Trash Taste was the only thing which I had going for myself only ever since, and I am glad I kept it that way. Been here since episode 3 of the Akihabara challenge, and still staying. I play some episodes several times to keep me company in my house as I do chores and to keep my thoughts from drifting to depressive states. Thank you for being there even though you guys don't know us, the pandemic blues are less darker with you guys around. :)

As someone who has never had a stable friend group due to poor choices, depression, social anxiety, insecurity and a lot of just life circumstances, this podcast has been a great outlet. But that whole conversation about loneliness and how it gets harder & harder to meet the right people the older you get cut DEEP. I'm 24 and I feel like it'd be game over if I believed my best years were behind me. I am grateful for the 2-3 good friends I am fortunate enough to have, but I've been extremely human interaction starved my whole life, and my only goal today is to be able to someday pursue my interests and meet new people, making strong connections that last and finding my own friend group. Everything I'm working towards right now involves having the stability to someday do that. I'm not currently financially capable, but I want to cosplay and get into the ttrpg community and really just find other people with the same interests and feel for once in my life, like I'm not a side character in my own narrative. But it's also true that most people already have their core friend groups by my age, so it gets really easy to feel discouraged and hopeless. I want to believe my people are still out there, though. p.s love that I'm getting emotional in the comment thread of a podcast where 3 grown men with the sense of humour of a classroom of grade schoolers bicker about chicken breasts but it be that way. p.p.s jk, I love y'all :')

When you say a box for 250k, what kind of box are you talking about? I haven't been into collecting the cards since they first launched. (I only collected Gen 1 cards and they all got stolen. The only thing I had left was the Japanese gen 2 cards I got from My friend in Japan who sent me two deck boxes from gen 2 before gen 2 came out in America. I've never known how much they are worth but I opened them (they weren't sealed cause usually Japanese stuff isn't sealed). I still have them in the closet. Do you think they are worth anything? I guess you could call them 1st edition gen 2 Japanese Pokemon cards. Either individually or in their full box. The main question is about the type of box. These are little boxes about the size of your hand. I have two of those boxes. I remember them being referred to as starter decks. I think.. Maybe..idk... On the topic of artist underselling themselves. The most common mistake is that they sell commission work at print prices. When you make a print, you sell it multiple times, 1 piece of work can be sold X amount of times. You make more money off that then you would selling a commission because you only sell the comssion once.
If you are selling print most prices are how every you feel that you would purchase that item for. If you are doing commission, think about it as an hourly rate. I know too many fellow artist that will spend 40 hrs on a piece of work for $200 that's $5 dollars an hour for a highly specialized production. I see $40 dollars at cons for commission and it blows my mind.
A weeks worth of commission work should be no less then 800-1000... and that's being conservative.

I mean, people buy more when quality stuff is cheaper, of course when you see other who work in the same industry receiving less than other you feel bad, but as a buyer you don't normally think "God damn, i want to pay you 5x more!!".
And to be honest the skill level of artists vary a lot while some take a lot of time others don't so time spent isn't that reliable not even talking about how easily you get distracted in the front of an PC in your own house as an digital seller.
Also these days is all about how famous you are, i see everyday a lot of good artist being underpaid while very mid ones are getting "overpaid" just because of influence.

      @@Yo-ds5qo I disagree, personally.
Just because you'll get more customers if you make your art cheaper, it doesn't mean it's worth it to under sell yourself. I think it's better to sell your art for what you think it's worth even if it's going to be out of a lot ppl's price range. The ppl who can afford it will pay for it and with time the value of your art will continue to go up bc of it.
You're right there are definitely artists who can draw in a faster time period. But just bc you can finish a commission quickly compared to others, it doesn't mean you should be charging less than those who take more time. A lot of artists who can finish a piece quickly do it because they've taken a lot of time in the past to really perfect their artistic skill and that practice deserves the same reward as someone who takes more time. Even if your art has a simpler or "easier-to-draw" style, it's still smth you put effort into perfecting so you should still be paid well.
Also sure fame helps. If you're more popular and have hundreds or thousands of followers who want a piece from you then frankly it makes sense to charge as much as possible. If you're not a big artist, you could sell you art for cheaper but don't under sell yourself because your value as an artist is based on the value you put in the art you sell and no one will take you as seriously if you sell your pieces for cheap or sites like RedBubble.

I would like to say on the artist point y'all made, as an artist myself, we often undersell ourselves because that's what people will actually pay for our art, and even then often we get DMs and shit where it can almost be lowkey harassment because our prices are still too high in their eyes or they wanted to try and get free art from us for "exposure".
It's kinda shitty, but a lot of artists do have to underpay themselves for their own mental health's sake and so we can put a roof over our heads and food on the table, as well.

I am an artist as well. I agree and disagree. For whatever reason, art isn’t seen as a product like other things. That mindset is changing though, which is good.
I understand new artists might need to start off with low prices but I definitely think it’s important to charge what your time and product is actually worth. If all artists raise their prices, that will become the new normal. There’s always going to be entitled people, that doesn’t mean we should under sell our work. That’s just my view of course. I just don’t think underselling should be encouraged long term.

We can try at least to not make abusive shit happens.
Not all jobs are equal in the system and just because you would want to receive more money it doesn't mean that people are looking to pay that for you. not everyone is luck to be editor of big CZcamsr, most of the time your clients are middle class people or poor people.

I'm not completely alone and sad but even as an introvert I've been feeling it a lot cause I haven't been able to interact with most of my friends properly since the pandemic and because of various other reasons. And because of it, right now even when I get the opportunity, I find myself struggling to talk with people. But despite the loneliness and dread I get from time to time, I was able to stay happy most of the time because of things like Trash Taste and Vtubers.
