    I've been eating the same exact breakfast every morning for years: Egg and cheese sandwich on an english muffin with coffee milk (instant coffee made with cold milk). Sometimes I'll have it for lunch or dinner, too. Fun because it's quick and easy and I don't have to think about it. Not so fun when I can't have it.

    I do that, but only with restaurant food and breakfast and evening snack. I have one dish I order in restaurant and if there is something wrong in it once I can’t eat it again and it means I can’t eat in that restaurant.
    I could live eating noodles (two flavours), oat porridge and smooth vegetable soup and smoothies. My dh keeps me from doing it. So I eat them for snacks and when I’m alone. That is good because when I forget to eat there is always some nice snack to have (or nutridrink).
    Thank you for this channel. I have got my diagnosis later in life and it is kind hard to let go of masking all the time. I have done it for 40 years even when I was alone. But it’s worth it because I have now more energy for everyday life.

    Yes, I also do that. I think maybe we keep trying to recreate the feeling we had when we first ate that delicious thing? I love food, all sorts, but I do end up eating the same thing for weeks as well and it is comforting. I usually stop when I get to lazy to make it. Because of keto, I have a rule of not eating processed food, so all I eat is cooked/baked by myself. But I can totally relate to that!!

      Do you find it challenging to keep up with the keto diet? I’m still figuring out food a lot but I agree on having the comfort food. I think it’s also related to not needing to think and make those decisions, especially on days when my brain is overloaded and I feel exhausted already. Your idea about recreating the positive feeling sounds exactly right for many occasions. It can be so disappointing when you have an amazing experience and then it doesn’t turn out exactly that way next time

      @@ChrisandDebby - I find challenging when I don't bake cakes or bread, but if I do that, I am really ok and pleased. A lot of keto people are against sweeteners and stuff like that, but I think that being in ketosis is what matters and if the sweeteners don't kick you off, why not??? I need baked goods, doesn't need to be with wheat flour, as long as it is sweet and fluffy, I'm happy. To me food is a great source of dopamine, so it is far more than comfort. And I totally agree that we eat the same thing sometimes to avoid making a decision. when I am overloaded, I also eat what I have eaten the day before. or I end up not eating at all and wait for when I am calmer. countless times I skip lunch and just have dinner for this reason. And the disappointment usually only happens when eating out... but yes, it sucks big time, I have to agree on that...

    Mm! Sweet and sour pork sounds pretty good! 🤭 I appreciate that Debby eventually suggested... NOT sweet and sour pork in such a kind way. Ha! Well done!
    I love variety but have to have some things the same daily or every other day at least. I've had the same smoothie equation for a couple years now and have one every day or two: Banana, frozen berries, kefir. Gets my fruit and probiotics and tastes fantastic! Still not bored of it and I crave it when it's missing from my diet for a few days. 🤷🏼‍♀️
    Also, I'm 33 and still waiting to get tired of PBJs. I don't have them daily but I easily could. It's in the lineup of foods that must always be stocked and available for bad executive functioning days.

      Someone else also mentioned PBJ and I love those as well. That’s one that Debby also can have pretty regularly 😆 we tried a routine before that was the same meals during the week as a rotation (like Mondays were one dinner, Tuesdays another, and cycling back the following week), but the sweet and sour pork was the only one that I could consistently stick with. Not sure if it’s the adhd side of thing too, but the sweet and sour pork still never gets old. I think you’re right this is related to the days that are more challenging for executive functioning too

    Easily im very picky eater and have a limited diet. I also hate the effort of cooking so I'll make a huge batch and eat many days in a row until ends.

      You said you follow the carnivore diet, right? What do you eat for that at each meal? I’m still researching and learning more about it - so far, I’ve just been following gluten free for the past few months and it’s helping but still have some occasional stomach issues

    • @MarleyDay
      @MarleyDay Před 6 měsíci

      @chrisanddebby The carnivore diet is eating animal protein; beef, chicken, fish, full fat cheese/butter, eggs etc. It is an elimination diet where the body isn't provided inflammatory items which allow the gut flora to reset. After the body is balanced, additional non-animal proteins can be added back in. Science shows us plants have a natural toxin defense, and only fermentation removes that for humans. When we eat plants / roots / tubers of any color, that natural defense is carried into the gut. ASD guts are generally already unbalanced. Then when we have selective eating due to sensory, we frequently find processed foods to be the most accommodating for sensory and fatigue during ASD burnout / shutdown. These processed foods are extremely inflammatory resulting in IBS and disease (cancer flourishes in sugar). I personally eat beef and butter. It is quick to cook in my air fryer, and I don't have to think about what I'm going to shop for or meal plan. I shop for discounted meat and then cut into small pieces which cook faster and are easier to eat. I purchase grass fed butter to remove hormones / anti-biotics passed through the meat. I have on hand free range eggs in case I run out of meat. Free range is important because they eat bugs. Chickens fed a grain diet sends the inflammatory toxins into our gut. With the eggs, I have frozen hamburger patties, not grass fed due to cost. I will air fryer the meat, put in a few eggs giving that a pouty / petulant stir (not usually in a good place so that's why I don't have the meat on hand) and throw in Tillamook cheese. Tillamook have grass fed cows. In the first 30 days of the diet, there is a lot of water in the stool due to the fat cells releasing stored water. It is in the next 60 days that the body begins to show progress in healing.

      I eat the same lunch almost every day but if I ate all the same every day I would be worried I was missing nutrients.
