I am glad that you are back on Nightwish and I totaly understand why you took a break from it. Die hard fans can be very frustrating when they go on a blind rampage. It happens to TankTheTech as well as he spoked about the Nightwish Tweet regarding to reactions videos. He was a bit frustrated with the tweet because Nightwish themself or at least their label are not very supportive with the reaction scene which is understanable but tweeting something like that is just not fitting. And i realy think Nightwish is better then that and also most of the Nightwish Fans are better then what you experienced. I hope everyone calms down a bit now and we all can enjoy some super good music.

I like Farms and Floor equally...they both have similar talents. Now Floor is the Valkyrie Warrior & Goddess! At nearly 6'1" tall...she has a massive stage presence.
A side note...make an announcement to have your subscribers check their status. When I came here to listen to Farms sing "Nemo".... I wasn't Subscribed anymore!! I subscribed again...and I have had other YT channels complain about YT unsubscribing people.
Oh...the name " NEMO" comes from Latin, and means "A Nobody" someone who sees themselves as a nobody.

So nice to hear something else than the standard songs from Gabriels list of the nightwish army, gets a bit old when everyone gets told to react to specific versions of specific songs in a specific order. I applaud you two for going your own way with it and reminding its your channel. I personally prefer Tarja's versions of Nightwish songs and im so glad to see more of it. Big Like from me.

The official music video of this song, with Tarja, is spectacular. Oddly for Nightwish, one of their studio recordings that is more preferable to me than the concert version. If you watch that music video take a good listen to Tarja's singing style from the studio vs this concert version. Tarja's vibrato get much heavier and pronounced on stage. For me it turns into an off-putting affectation. But I can watch and listen to Tarja sing Nemo in that music video all day.

Yeah mostly live concerts are ,ore popular, I suppose because they performed the songs many times after recording it and learnt what worked with the song. From Tarja era threre are many concerts with pretty good quality, not as great quality as from Floor's era, but some remastered ones one might say are very good quality. In Anette's case it's vice versa, people mostly listen the recoded albums for there are very few concerts with good audio-video quality. And she sang a lot of Tarja's era songs for which she had to create new style, which always wasn't good (for the whole song). But I gotta say, listen her 2012 Ever Dream from Colmar, it is beautiful, more soft and relaxed than the 2008 Gampel where she sang it loud and intense. So Anette improved too, and some performaces were better than others.

Usually people suggest the live performances, which are really wonderful, but if you stick to them, you'll never know many wonderful songs. IMHO Tarja's best Ghost Love Score is not the 2005 End of an Era performance. It was the last song of the setlist in a long concert where she was ill, and on top of it that's with loud background choir (and there's more of it) which drowns the vocalist. In Montreal Canada and in Romania (don't know the city name) performances she sings the version of low volume background choir (same version as Floor does too) and those are much better. I don't think they have ever been reacted to, as people always go to more views End of an Era video and aren't in the official Nightwish or Tarja's site either.

Welcome back! When you have a chance, you should check out the three-song stretch of the Wembley show that brackets the version of Poet and the Pendulum that you reacted to. Alpenglow will set you up to be hammered by Poet, which is then followed by Floor's version of Nemo which gives the huge crowd some needed recovery.

Hi, I absolutely agree with your view on those who seem to go overboard about researching the backstory of Poet and the Pendulum. I've *very* rarely seen negativity when it comes to Nightwish, so I'm actually rather surprised to hear you got those comments. Usually you will just get a few people giving an explanation and leave it at that, all very friendly; I'm rather upset that such negativity has crept into our little cabal.
Besides that, I have to say that this is one of those NW songs that I really like in Tarja's version, not because Floor's is in any way bad, but I guess it's because I first heard Tarja's version I guess. It's the same with Sleeping Sun, which was my first introduction to the band. But all singers they've had are awesome.

I am not a follower of nightwish, and just discovered later they had changing singers... but for me Tarja is the best, for me is the identity of nightwish, rock with classical opera singer, her voice is in another level, like the woman here said, you get chills from her voice.

I’m new to Nightwish but I think this one and Everdream are more suited for her voice. I see the different styles and I really don’t like one more than the other. I think Floor sings them great, but I’m starting to get a feel for the tone of the band and these two songs are hers.

A couple of songs I would suggest is their cover of Phantom of the Opera from that same concert (you'll love it) I promise. Never mind what other people say or think. It's your channel and you do as you like. It has been a thing to research to The poet and the pendulum because it's such a moving story behind it. BUT it's not a crime not to research. That's just bullshit. That song is still a masterpiece. So keep going because I enjoy your reactions.
And because I do I will put down a recommendation. NIGHTWISH - Alpenglow, live in Mexico City (the Wembley versoion is also amazing but Floor is much more "gritty" in the pre-chorus and I love the Mexico City version)

I like you did Nightwish with Tarja. To me Tarja is Nightwish, Nightwish is Tarja. Don't get me wrong Floor is amazing and the first thing I said when they fired Tarja is that they should ask Floor to step in. But the old songs are specially written with and for Tarja and therefore, for me at least, are better when Tarja did sing them. Goosebumps everytime. I saw Nightwish in their old settings a few times and they were amazing. I saw Floor with After Forever a few times as well and she is amazing also. She is the best replacement they could of picked and she made it her own. But with every change in a band (leadsinger wise) it is hard to forgot about how the old version sounded and everyone does compare the two (I don't take Annette in consideration because she to me never really fitted in in the style Nightwish at that time was). So both are amazing singers, Tarja I love in the old songs. Floor is amazing in all their songs but the best in their new work. Thanks for doing this reaction, love it 🖤

Kittos:thank you in Finnish. Last date of the world tour October 2005 Helsinki. Once upon a tour. Biggest set up the band ever used up to that date. Supported 5th album Once. Memo is Latin for noone/nobody. As in 20, 000 leagues under the sea by Jules Verne. The Captain of the submersible Nautilus called himself Nemo. A man without a home or past. It was lost to him. That and Tarja ( tar-yee-aa) helped found the band in 1996 and was there until this night.

So sorry you had to deal with that nonsense, but welcome back to Nightwish anyway! The band have been blessed with many fantastic singers, and each has songs where I prefer their performance. This is one where I love Tarja most, so I'm glad you went for this version (check out the music video just for yourself as well). If you want more Tarja live I suggest Phantom of the Opera next, then maybe Walking in the Air. If you want to try Annette, I suggest Slow Love Slow live at Montreux or the official live video of Scaretale. If you'd like to hear more from Marko, you'll get that too with Phantom of the Opera, or for a different side try The Islander live at Tampere or High Hopes. At some point come back to Floor, but why not explore a little more first? Believe me, we are not going to run out of suggestions for you...

@@BreakdownMediaYT Might be a bit late on the comment but I think too many people aren't fair to Anette.
Anette is the original singer of Nightwish most popular and arguably their breakout album Dark passion play and then later with Imaginarium. She wasn't the best live singer as she had difficulties adapting to the style/metal genre as she was mainly a pop singer. That's why you can't find that many live recordings of her.
They fired her to hire Floor instead as a singer while she was sick and pregnant without further notice (kinda like the band did to Tarja). Do go easy on Anette she did her best and Dark Passion Play IS the band's most sold album so I think some credit should go to her. I think a lot of the Nightwish fan hate/toxicity comes from the Anette era where many hated on her for not being as good as Tarja and now that Floor took center stage people started piling on Tarja for not being good enough and some on Floor for not being good enough.

I have been listening to Nightwish for about 20 years. So what happens to me is that the songs that Floor sings I already know and I don't need new versions. I like Floors when he sings new songs but for the others I prefer Tarja. Many of Floor's fans say that Tarja doesn't have other styles but they don't know about her solo career. they compare Tarja 20 years ago with the current Floor. Do you understand what I mean? I don't know if I am expressing myself well. Tarja apart from her rock and classical shows has a side project where she mixes house music with electric guitars together with Torsten. His latest song is a cover of Depeche mode "world in my eyes". It is very different from the style that Tarja had been doing but I love it. always do new things.
You do an excellent point. This was 2002 NW and Tarja. Comparing her at 25 to Flor who is older than Tarja 20 years later is not apt. I said it elsewhere. They are different people. They sing differently even in the same genre. Find a universe where Tarja was not fired and you think they'd still be stars if they never evolved their sound? Tarja has done classical, metal/hard rock, actual opera. Covers of Rammsteun & Metallica for goodness sakes. Part of what happened was she joined the band age 17/18 and left at 28. 10 years and an adult who had matured into her own person. With ideas and styles she wanted to pursue solo. She was under contract for one more album and tour. Also at this time she had married. As a married woman, she entered a new stage of life and was ready to go solo. She may well have done like others before and rejoined the band once every decade to produce music together between side projects.
Past is past. They did not. She has a great solo career and touring again in her South American home of Argentina. Flor and NW back on tour in Europe. So much music to enjoy. Pick what you love, from whom you love and when you love. No need to justify it. That is snobbish killjoy talk. Life is short. Spend it listening to that which makes you feel happy to be listening too.

His solo career is versatile, I love her dark songs about Christmas or her classic style or her rock style and her electronic music project has the best guitarists. Floor also has his solo project. I hope one day they will make a song together (I know they sang together) but I say a new song. they are good friends.
Yeah and rock (metal) is only one of her genres. And she did in Nightwish already quite different styles. What she doesn't do is harsh vocals or raspy (well, there might be a little raspiness sometimes, but very rarely). Nemo is one song actually that shows quite a few different approaches, especially if one listens the album recorded version. It has breathy vocals, almost spoken vocals and classical vocals but without the bel canto style which she used in early Nightwish but they got rid of (not all, but mostly) for her later NW career. In rock it's typical she mixes both contemporary (clean pop/rock) and classical vocals within the same song.
I have been to many Nightwish concerts. With Tarja, Anette and Floor. Most of the bad comments are from the old Tarja's fans. They still live in the old times, they don't like Floor either. To be honest some of Tarja's songs were too operatic for me, she never tried another singing style (she is a good singer). If you listen to her new songs now, she sings a better style, not so operatic anymore. Tarja and Floor are good friends, they don't have problems like some old fans. I will be 70 years young this year, my last concert that I will attend is April 26 in Tampere.

And, if you think that Tarja never tried other singing styles, just listen her solo career. In Nightwish she had to do what band told her to do, only as solo artist she could sing as she wanted. Anyway, while singing in Nightwish, her style changed a lot from first to fifth album.

After having listened to all singers (including live) there are only 2 songs that I still truly prefer performed by Tarja, the one is Nemo, and the other one is Phantom of the Opera.
Not because Floor cannot rock them (to the contrary, I think technically she even does it better than Tarja mostly) these 2 just have an emotional connection.
Especially Nemo is just such a classic Nightwish staple that Tarjas voice is just attached to it in my head, And I think many Fans feel the same.
Ghost Love Score on the other hand is actually a classic song, but Floor just improved it to another level.
To me, the band would not be the same without its 3 female singers, but the current formation is just sublime to me. Troy and Floor just have been a total blessing for the band and I feel should the day come when Floor wants to call it quits, this would be the end of the band.
By the way: if you like Tarja (which everyone should), I recommend you check out some of her Solo stuff. She is an incredible artist in her own right and deserves being listened to.

I would think that it was not a case of gate keeping at all, but a suggestion that Poet and the Pendulum is best appreciated knowing the story behind it, and that it is unfortunate to listen to it without that perspective. Can you? Absolutely! I wouldn't take the advice to wait on Poet as a negative, however, or to let it influence your opinion of either the band or the fans.

I've been listening to Nightwish for 16 years, and there are most songs that I prefer Floor over Tarja. This is not one of them. This song for me will always be the best performed by Tarja. Some fans have gone completely insane about that backstory for "Poet" thing. Yes, it may help to understand the song, but it's not necessary. And I as an old fan think, that there is no way this "reading the open letter" will help a one bit for someone who is new to this band. Most of these fans seem so ignorant towards Tarja, that they simply can't understand how this all felt back in 2005, and then later when the Poet came out. Listening to that song even today is like tearing old wounds open again, but then again feeling some sympathy towards Tuomas, even that you "hate" him for what they did (basically ensured, that we don't see Tarja on stage with them ever again). Trying to make Tarja look the bad guy was a cheap childish thing, and many of their fans got really upset about it. I understand that they couldn't continue together, but there are more civilized way to handle things.

@@BreakdownMediaYT Because your first language is english, right?So The song Poet and the Pendulum is a song about a suicide and it's very clear when you listen to the lyrics that it's DARK, everything in it was dark including Floor's facial expressions and body language. even though you wouldn't understand it's about suicide.The video also has dark atmosphere.So I couldn't relate to your happy faces, mermaids and whatnots you were talking about. It's always mystery to me how this song escapes some people so profoundly. When something this personal is written and your reaction came off to me, disrespecting, having a laugh when someone is in pain,even though you were just clueless about it. Some people get sucked in with music so hard, that lyrics can't reverse that. I'm one of those people, and I'm sure if I was doing reaction videos, I would have head banged and smiled while listening to it first time, just because the music is so fricking awesome.
It's really hard to replace Tarja but Floor did an amazing job and I have to say that i hold Floor higher then Tarja overall BUT(!) when it comes to the songs Nemo, Wishmaster and Wish I had an angel then i have to say that for me no one can replace Tarja. Then we have Phantom of the opera that Floor does REALLY good but my favourite performace of that song is without a doubt the one with Marko (the bassist) and Tarja.
Everyone has their own opinion and taste of music. Nothing is right or wrong. This is just my personal opinion.
