There are still great singers. Ledisi, Fantasia Barrino, Jennifer Hudson, Lalah Hathaway, Wendy Moten, Chante Moore, Deborah Cox, Beyonce Knowles, Jazmine Sullivan, Cynthia Erivo, Samara Joy, Audra McDonald, Kelly Clarkson, etc. That's just some of the women. For some reason every generation eventually throws the generations younger than they are under the bus when it comes to talent.

(I believe it was 1974-75) I cannot believe how wonderful Gladys's voice and breath control is in this video.... amazing for her age. I know that her friend Dionne Warwick smoked for most of her life, and I also believe Glady's did as well. With that said....it blows my mind that it has not affected their voices. Not sure you've ever seen" Sisters in The Name of Love".... a television special that Glady's, Dionne, and Patti Labelle did back in the 80's? This beautiful woman is 80 years old this year and still sounds like she did 60 years ago. Absolutely astonishing! We adore you Ms. Gladys. Such grace and class. And for the record, it is Gladys’ “the way we were”! She recorded her own rendition of this song 50 years ago along with the Pips, and has been performing it since. She owns it just like Barbra does. Both are phenomenal ❤

Now this a preserved voice. Her voice has no signs of thin, nasal or whinny. She doesn’t have to rely on the mix voice. She’s able to sing in her chest voice. And her tone is full and warm at 80.

The numbers get very low when it comes to comparing someone to miss gladys. It's almost insanely spooky that how much she sounds like the original recording from the seventies. There are some artists that still sound good but they either are not as old as miss gladys or they have not been in the business as long.

I am a huge streisand fan and no one can do a streisand song like Barbra, except Gladys. I saw her perform this at the Oakdale theater in Wallingford ct, in the late 70's. I was stunned and enthralled by Gladys. Great to still see her at the top of her game.

I was a sou chef at the Waldorf Astoria and had to do some over time because we were getting ready for New Year’s Eve in the main ballroom.Late in the afternoon I happened to go by the main ballroom because I heared music.Well it was Gladys Knight rehearsing.I just pulled up a chair and watched with amazement.There were some crew people setting up and me just getting a free concert by one of the greatest female artists in the WORLD.I tell that story and I get goose bumps.

I saw Ms. Knight in Las Vegas 10 years ago. She came to the end of he stage and started shaking the hands of her fans. I pushed some people out of the way to get the opportunity to touch this legend. I will never forget her. The concert was amazing, she was beautiful, and all in attendance had an absolutely wonderful time. Thank you, Gladys "the Baddest" Knight.

A little over a year ago I saw Gladys perform this very song to a full-capacity audience at the Flynn Theater in Burlington, VT. She was magnificent then and sounds just a lovely now. In today's music world of auto tuned, synthetically enhanced "performances," her professionalism, talent, and voice-full, rich, and unsullied by audio contrivances-place her in a league of her own.
That ability to sustain that gift for so many many years is beyond astounding. Truly one of our greatest singers and performers of our time, an honour and privilege to be witnessing the super talented extraordinary phenomenal Gladys Knight ❤
