Thank you Sarah for all your videos and tips! I visited Manhattan with my wife last week and we had amazing time thanks to your videos! Can't recommend this channel enough if you're planning a trip to NYC
We just visited first week of December and loved it! Stayed at Millenium Hotel Broadway and our experience of everything was excellent. Your videos helped soo much! Even used subway 3 times with no issues. For 5 nights it was about $170 a day each. So worth it!
Now I understand how lucky I was to have a aunt living there and let me stay 3 weeks, just paying my activities on my own 😅
Yes you sure were lucky!
Hi Sarah! Your vlog is so fascinating and purposeful. I've seen you in Irfan's vlog and both of you have done an amazing job. Really this vlog is most useful for the tourist to plan their budgetary tourism in Newyork. Hope you're a better guide to helping foreigners in a better way.
That definitely looks quite pricey if you stay in Midtown Manhattan! I'm glad that there are much more affordable options out in the Long Island City area. I did stay in Midtown last year when I went, but I had a lot of hotel points I could use which brought the costs down tremendously. One thing I love about NYC is that the budget eats in the city from the bagels to the tacos and pizza are so delicious! Some of my favorite eats were less than $10-15 dollars! This is a great video for people to start planning their budget for a NYC trip!
Are there any hotels you can recommend
Thank you for your content Sarah the work you do is amazing!!!
My partner and I are travelling to New York for 2 weeks and 1 week in Orlando so this guide has really helped
Hi Sarah, your videos are awesome. Thank you for making videos.
Love you Sarah. Merry Christmas to you and the family
WONDERFUL, as always! Love your videos! :)
I love all your videos… Merry Christmas to you and your beautiful family.
Hello Sarah, your videos are very helpful for us Europeans. We have enjoyed our trip to NYC with your important informations. Liked and already SUBSCRIBED. We wish you and all viewers a Happy New Year. Cheers from Serbia and Switzerland.
This is pretty accurate. My wife and I stayed for 5 days, M-F last week and this budget is pretty spot accounting for a couple less days for our case. We stayed at the Residence Inn Central Park and had a grand times square view, 63 floors up, and it was 1600 but totally worth the view! We did save a lot on food because our hotel included breakfast and lunch for both of us was no more than 10 dollars a day. Did have one dinner that was 350 but totally worth it. We did a few paid things like a 60 minute carriage ride around central park and visit to the met, and got to see the Rockettes. One free thing I would recommend would be to go to the Today Show. Lots of standing and waiting but my wife was interviewed by Dylan and we got on tv. Totally worth standing for 3.5 hours lol. Overall I think I spent less than 3k for the trip including all travel and related expenses to and from NYC. Really appreciate all your videos as it certainly helped us plan out our trip and know what to look for.
Can easily drop 25k also..... 4k on a decent motel for a few nights and a grand on seeing the Rangers in a corporate seat and 5k on shopping/food and being chauffeured around. Oh yeah and 15k on business class return from Sydney :)
Want to come back to the beautiful city. And look into using your company!! Thanks for your amazing videos!!! Knowledge and tools!!!
Hey Sarah the video is really Alagu!!!, 🎉 Merry Christmas
Very informative video! I will take advantage of those promo codes when I visit in February! Merry Christmas Beautiful Lady😘😘😘xox
Hey Sarah I really like the video with irfan you explained everything Cool and here i really liked your blog
As always very informative content, Sarah. Be back there sooner for our 3rd time. Problem is, whenever hols there in NYC a part of me always remains there.
Love this
The cheapest way to visit NYC is to click the subscribe button and watch Sarah Funk's videos in the comfort of your own home.
Great tips ! Expensive, but there's so much to do. Also there's budget things to do 😊
Yes definitely! For example, this is how you can do it for $20 a day! czcams.com/video/aycoCnlroec/video.html
@@SarahFunky did i just set myself up. Wow
For non-USA residents, the cost varies depending on the exchange rate. The first time I visited from the UK, 2006, I got almost 2 US Dollars to the pound sterling, now its just over 1, so the cost has doubled just due to that, before you take inflation into account
Good point Christopher. Thanks for sharing!
@@SarahFunky No problem. I'm still hoping to return at some point in the future. I'd like to see the new museum on Liberty Island for one thing, and the Hudson Yards
I’m British also and I think I just wasted 9 mins of my life
Love your videos. I do take exception to the, Long Island City is just 15 minutes from Midtown, comment. It depends on the proximity of your hotel to the subway station, how much time you have to wait on the platform for the next train and any transfers needed. That 15 minute ride could turn into a 30-45 minute timespan.
I'd rather be located in Midtown than give up 1-2 hrs in RT commuting per day. Plus, if I'm out exploring in the day, want to go to the hotel to freshen up/nap before going out of the town in the evening, my hotel in Midtown is way more convenient. YMMV.
Learning from Las Vegas, non-chain hotels add a "facilities fee"/night that is rarely disclosed when booking the room. I've experienced these added fees ranging from $23-$45/night. So a seemingly attractive rate might not be quite as good as advertised. I'm not complaining, just be aware. Besides, these extra fees and taxes help keep NYC #1.
Thanks for the tips Sarah F
Happy to help!

Thank you so much ❤❤❤❤
Hi Sarah. Came here to check out you from the recent video you done with Irfan and you doing great. You got one new sub.
Good information
A couple of hacks: my brother and his wife have found that hotels near the Newark Airport are less expensive. There are frequent busses for a quick ride into Manhattan. Food hacks of dining: lunch trucks in midtown, having the biggest meal for a late lunch, where prices are lower, then going to Zabars or Whole Foods to stock up for a light hotel evening picnic. Not only do you save money, but your waistline will thank you.
Love irfan views.. 🥰 video amazing sarah..
The numbers are pretty accurate. You forgot the Resort Fee that hotels in Manhattan charge (usually around $33 per night). But that's completely right to me from the times I visited New York.
Here after Irfan views.... Your videos are so informatic mam 💯💯
A great video as always 🤩
Staying a bit more upstate NY could also be a recommendation, despite the fact of a longer travel to the city. I personally loved Tarrytown, and with one trainride of 45 minutes you’re at Grand Central 😄
Kinda defeats the purpose of a holiday in a city by booking a hotel outside the city 🤦🏾♂️😅
If your tight low on cash then maybe. But I personally find saving up longer for a good hotel in the city makes the experience better 🌃
@@C--A yeah I totally understand what you’re saying !! I just meant to say that it could be a recommendation for some people like if you’re on a budget as you’re saying. And (a little more) upstate New York is really beautiful as well :)
I lived in Tarrytown for 6 months and I loved it and it’s so easy to go/be in the city so yeah
But again: I can totally see where you’re coming from
I was on a strict budget when I visited New York for the 1st time for my birthday in September due to my sister's funds s not being as strong as I thought they would be but I still had a decent time and I definitely wanna go back.
We stayed in Chinatown Queens at the Ramada(I didn't care about tourist stuff) I want to stay in Brooklyn next time because there seems to more to do. The subway was great way for out 4 day trip. I only spent like $25 and thankfully no issues with homeless or anyone while there.
Hi Sarah I'm Arun one of the irfan viewer. I subscribed and start to follow you☺️
I wish I found you before I payed for my hotel in Manhattan! Me and my Husband are travelling to NY on thursday ;)
I saw you in irfans view and now I am watching all your videos. Nice info....
Also add the $100 a night deposit per room hold the hotels will put on your credit card as part of your budget and planning! Also you need a local number for Revel to work...keep that in mind 🙂
Irfan recommend your channel 🎊🎉🎉🎉👍🏼
I ate at Tacos No.1 (Chelsea Market) last Friday for $5 per taco. Because Sarah ate there!
Did you like it?!
@@SarahFunky loved it, I took the white hallways to the front of the line. Best in the world
I went for one day and spent over 1k. Hotel alone was $500 for one night and it was the cheapest available in an area I felt most safe since I went alone
Love from irfan views❤❤❤ llove from Malaysia💜💜

Hi, Sarah this karan from India.Yesterday i saw saw you in Irfan view's that video was awesome and u also look pretty ❤️
Excellent stuff Sarah....
Very beautiful 😍👍
Hi I am irfans Follower
We’ve just visited NYC from the UK last week and couldn’t believe how expensive it is now🙈 The real gem we found though was Rudys bar and grill. 4 dollars for a beer and a free hotdog. We were there every night 😂
OMG LOVE THAT SPOT! It is also my husbands favorite!
@@SarahFunky it’s our new favourite bar aswell Sarah. It’s also a lot cheaper than our hotel. For a beer and glass of wine. We paid 77 dollars after taxes and 20% tip 🙈😂
@@andyramsey2794 you paid $77 (including 20% tip) at your hotel for one beer and one glass of wine?
Legally you don't have to pay any tip in the USA. I'm from Scotland and visiting New York next year 🗽
Screw the 20% tip haha! They will get a tip of my choosing if the person serving me is a cool dude or gal. If not no tip for them 🫠
@@C--A hi mate, yeah 20% is the minimum expected now unfortunately 😬 if your after a few cheaper beers and a really good night, go to Rudys bar on 9th Avenue, it really is a great little bar 👍
@@andyramsey2794 Cheers man for the recommendation, I'll give Rudys a shot 👌 No bar or restaurant in Staypineapple Hotel I'm staying in. Will mostly eat street food they're - hotdogs, corndogs, bagels, pizza. Maybe try a Steakhouse 🥩
Is messed up the wage system for bar restaurant workers over there! Don't mind giving tips but would rather slip a 10 or 20 dollar bill 💵 into the pocket of the person actually serving me than it gets taken out my card 💳
Love from Irfan.. say that Tamil word for "BEAUTIFUL"❤️
Merry Christmas as a fan of @IrfanView
From irfans view....
I like your attitude and smile
I subscribed you because of Irfan bro
We found a Hotel one block to Carnegie Hall for 170$/Night (been there 2 Weeks ago). Nothing special, but nice, clean and friendly. Perfect location to go everywhere.
In 10 Days we spent a average of ~200 $/Day, definitely NOT counting the cent, including a good mix of fine (expensive) food/drinks and 1$-Slices, a daytrip by train to Philly, Ubers, Metrocard. Not included Shopping, Broadway-Tickets and a NYC-Pass (wich I would NEVER EVER recommend to anybody!!!!). Most times tried to stay away from the tourist paths indeed.
Personal Tip: Go to the Top of the Rock at Daytime. For a stunning view of the city at night, instead of paying ~40-50$ for a elevator ride, go to the "Overstory Lounge" on the 64th Floor, close to Wall Street, spend money for a couple of tasty cocktails (24$ each!) and enjoy the views from the terrace. Absolutely woth it....
January is perfect for a visit. Done that a few times now and the next trip is coming up in January 2023. Very good deals on hotels, even in midtown.
Looking at Sonder as I’m watching. The time I wanna go there a stay for $387 for 4 nights! Now I just need to get paid😂
I disagree that a hotel cost that much per night in Manhattan. We are going in just few days but booked our hotel in advance and we stay at EVEN Hotel New York - Midtown East , pretty close to all attractions for 140 British pounds per night for two ( all fees incl ) . Great video and tips. Thank you. I'm super fan of all your videos.
I wish OMNY had the 7 day unlimited option like the metrocard esp since the 12+ rides only count from Mon 12AM to Sun 1159PM whereas the metrocard you can do the 7day anytime (esp if you're like me and you do trips from Thurs to Tues and ride the subway all over the place. ) Oh and their refund policies are terrible.
ALSO if you're comfortable rooming with strangers or using shared bathrooms - Hostels are another great way in saving money and you spend 50-75 a night (and HINYC doesn't charge tax or those ridiculous resort fees )
I had the same thoughts about OMNY, bcs. we arrived at monday afternoon (only one ride from JFK to Hotel) and left on thursday the next week. In the end it would have made no difference. We used the Subway that much, that it was even woth it buying another 7-day unlimited from tuesday to thursday. Just not thinking, if you skip a few blocks by going one station with the subway. OMNY would have completely paid out for us und woud have just been a little less "effort"
Me and 2 of my friends both went to New York for the first time ever last year for new years and we all went with 3k and all came back broke but we stayed in queens and took a lot of Ubers to Manhattan
Spouse and I just spent 6 days, saw 4 shows, Museum of Broadway, stayed in great hotel, ate great food. I was her first big trip out of Kansas since COVID so I didn't scrimp. With food (which she decided to pay for mostly), I estimate it was close to $6500. Worth it for us. Plus we both work in theatre so........
It sounds like it was well worth the money! So fun! Which shows did you see?
Hey..Sarah I see 👀 for irfans channel..😉😇
I'm so mad. The choir at my school had a trip to see The Phantom of the Opera on Broadway. AND I DIDNT SIGN UP BECAUSE I DIDN'T WANT TO EAT LUNCH OUTSIDE. but they went to the Rockefeller and went to a restaurant where the employees sang Dancing Queen. and thats literally my jam

Hi Sarah! Irfan’s Viewers here and we are waiting for the vlog with irfan that you shot too.
Any Irfan’s viewers here?
Another way to get cheaper hotel stays in the NYC area, is to look across the river in New Jersey. There are plenty of international brand hotels in NJ with NYC bound busses and trains that run round trip from them at almost all hours. Towns in NJ that are approximately as far as the NYC burrows would include; East Rutherford, Secaucus, Ridgefield, West New York, North Bergen, along with many more: speaking from experience, this practically works with all major cities around the world.
Why visit a city if your going to end up in a hotel outside the city lol. Just save up longer for a hotel in the city 👌🏾
@@C--A The video mentions staying in the burrows of NYC as a more (budget friendly) option, which is no different than staying on the NJ Side: either you go east across the East River or same distance west across the Hudson. Some people would rather take their hard earned money and use it towards seeing more attractions and buying more gifts than burn it up on an overpriced hotel. This is just an added suggestion, and something I see tons of tourists do here in the meadowlands NJ area, especially in my line of work in the aviation sector.
You're welcome to spend your millions however you like though lol 😆
Hey Sarah From Irfan Fam ✌🏻😄

Hi Sara I know about your channel by irfan view blogs . How did you say beautiful in tamil 🤣 so nice

Where's the museum free/pay-what-you-wish days list you said at 7:35 below? I can't find it.
Yeah, you can basically cut those prices in half if you know what you’re doing.
Surprises me loads of people who don't do some simple research online before visiting a city. A few hours research will save you a lot of money 💸
Nice Sara. Question, What’s the best to see in around Rockefeller at night for 3 hrs hang out around that area? Thank you
So much! Times Square, St. Patrick's Cathedral, 5th Avenue, Lotte NY Palace (Xmas tree), Bryant Park, Central Park. I recommend joining the Must-See Manhattan tour for context and all of the spots in 2 hours! funkyexperiences.com/must-see-manhattan

How can I use the Seated app on restaurants that only allow you to only make reservations for 4 or more people?
Please do a trip to Tokyo Japan vlog the differences and also a vlog on Tokyo Japan thanks on CZcams thanks soon 🔜 🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵
So would it be smart to have an Airbnb on Staten Island or Brooklyn to help make lodging cheaper? I’ve found Airbnbs for $1050 for 10 days and I thought that it would be worth it because it sounds like a deal. It’s me and one other person so I’m confident that we won’t be in over our heads with this
Only ONE subway station away from Manhattan, in Queens, there is a Mariott hotel with $1,000 for 7 nights.
Ravel Hotel Trademark Collection by Wyndham
That's what I'm talking about! And imagine if you split the cost of the room with someone you're traveling with. Now it get's even cheaper!
@@SarahFunky The price is for 2 adults. I saw it on Booking. The room is 300 sqft. But the tax is staggering 14.75%.
Is there many hostels in New York. It would be a lot cheaper
Hi! I’ll be traveling to the US for 3 weeks this June 2024 and will be visiting NYC (4 Days) & LA (3 Days). I have already paid for my hotels.
My budget is $250 per day for exploring the city and covering major tourist attractions.
Would that be enough?
Is Amex accepted in contactless payments?
Are there currently still any COVID related rules?
