Does anyone know what the small rectangular steel pieces with threaded holes are for?

Sir, from what I have seen in some videos, the rectangle in the middle is a handle for holding the square when attached to the rail. The holes on the bottom are for adding the parallel guides. They are for holding T-track. Something like the Incra stuff. The bolt goes up through the bottom and the metal part holds the track. They hold the track in the recessed area that goes perpendicular to the saw track.
Instead of needing two parallel offset guides, you can use just one guide and the square to achieve the same results on short tracks (though I don't know that I'd trust it for long cuts).

Does that bosch track saw really fit the makita track guide?

I don't know what Bosch saw you are writing about? This angle fits the Makita guide bar.

The Bosch track saws come with a plastic cover under the base plate, remove it for compatibility with Makita/Festool tracks
