Lovely work Cris and also a massive educational video for all the sparks/ young sparks out there! 👍🏽
A timely one this Chris - I'm thinking of exactly the same thing on my manor house job to provide switching at a location I can't get wiring to. I was wondering if they had a grid range, and here you are with 'em!
I love using these wireless switches. I usually do the learning process before I mount them on the wall just to save the running around. I think this could be the future of electrics for lighting.
I saw these back in the day when DSS electrical used these alot in his videos, ive since done all my garden lighting with them using the 3 gang switches for indoor and outdoor use. Fantastic bit of kit!. Suppose theyre a complete game changer for you lads when it comes to rewires! Great content as always.
Great idea to use this for garden lighting. I don't know if this is legal in the UK, but here in Belgium we can use "mixed circuits" with lighting and sockets on 1 breaker, which is what I did in my garden using a single 4core + Earth (Earth + Neutral +Live + 2 Switched from inside) cable running throughout the garden with some slack in tactical spots and junction boxes wherever I placed sockets, lights, powered decorations... I thought it was a great idea for doing this since this allows me to easily add lights, sockets, decorations later if I need them and my garden isn't large enough to ever need more than one permanent and two switched live feeds.
The mistake I made there was not accounting for having switches outside so I can only turn on/off the lights from inside the house. This is a great way to add a switch wherever I want in the garden, I can even put one right in the side of my chair or in the table without needing extra wiring.
Wow they are great, I am a sparks with a 100+ year old three story house with messed up three way switching from before we bought the house...as we all hate working in our own houses (electrically) bus man's holiday and all that, and as the previous owner had done a pretty nice painting decorating job, I was putting off chasing walls up the stairs to run in straps...but this video/ product has saved me doing all of that! Going online to order up some now! Cheers man, top vids keep em coming!
Saw them on Nick Buddy’s channel. Used two in my bathroom one for the Luceco downlights👍 and one for the fan/shower light. No more pull cords😀
Finally have the need to use some of these. Wanted a quick vid to see how easy they were and youtube gave me some random US clip. What a load of waffle!
Thought surely ma boy Chris has done a simple effective install vid and vola! Here it is. Thanks again bud, these vids are so helpful to a recently qualified sparks ;starting up on his own ;)
Well done really appreciate you showing this especially. In your own home. John
Love these, fantastic in a period property with ornate plasterwork and / or wood panelling, no need to disturb any of it or spend hours trying to find a route behind. Also solves the problem of switching bedroom lights from the bed, when the lady of the house decides she wants to rearrange the furniture and shift the bed to the opposite wall- the switch could be mounted to a bedside table or even the bed frame and always be in exactly the right place no matter how often they are moved.
Think you’ve just solved a big problem for me, 80 quid can sound a lot but not ruining existing decorating and having to chase a wall out and plaster up etc etc. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 top notch regards Mike
Just found your channel last week I find you very helpful. I actually filled in a light hole in the ceiling that you showed on your channel and it’s worked out a treat I’ve been watching a lot of your videos now thanks very helpful tips. 👏😎🇮🇪
Great job I think I am now going to get some for my house, cheers for the video. Colin
Simple, quick and flexible. Love them 👍
I agree Mark thanks
Love a Quinetic Switch! Simple solution to a complicated problem.
Totally agree Jordan
@@Cjrelectrical Hey Chris, have you had any dramas/call backs with these quinetics?…they look awesome and for certain situations I can see how much easier it would make life.... I really enjoy your videos mate, thanks for sharing 👍🏼👏🏼
Super interesting video Chris! I was actually doing some R&D on an Alexa automated home lighting system, and one solution was to use doorbell switches to trigger between the on and off states. Wasn’t sure how practical it was, but by watching this video, I think it might be useful.
thanks Chris I know this is an older post but I found this to solve my issues here in Australia so I have Ordered a set up from the UK to solve my switching issue . Australia is about 10 years backwards when it comes to sophistication in this feild of solving issues like this . could not find anyone selling this solution or offering anything like it . Cheers for showing brand and part numbers it made it a doddle to get a set up
I kept leaving the light on in my outdoor utility area here in Portugal, and only tended to realise at night from my bedroom. I fitted the Quinetic unit and switch outside plus have one of their key fob remotes in the bedroom. Job done, brilliant device, highly recommend them.
Hi Chris thanks for sharing your video with me and I would like to see more of your videos yes It's makes electrician's life easier to install
Nice modern way of switching, short n simple 👍
Simple way of doing things is to take the switch modules with you into the loft rather than having to run up and down the stairs & ladders!
@@goodcat1982 but that bit can be done after pairing. In fact, I wouldn't of cut the holes in the walls until I had paired the switches & done a rough test with the switches in the approximate position.
@goodcat1982 what's the point of fitting them in the wall to find out that they won't pair? Pairing & testing whilst in the loft proves that the system is working in ideal conditions & saves running up and down stairs and ladders so much - if it doesn't work when you then move it to location you know that it's related to the location rather than faulty equipment or failed pairing!
Take them to the loft.. no it's better fun running to the switch before the set up timer runs out
I see the commenters are getting their daily exercise, by jumping to conclusions...
@@farmersteve129 take a day off mate 🙄
Waiting for Nick to reply to you as he loves these 🤣🤣 great video chris looks easy to install
Yeah I’m sure he will be along shortly cheers Anthony
Nice video dude, ive watched lots of your video's - you explain stuff really well
Thank you
Did my two sheds & outside lights with quinetic system on a 3 gang switch just inside my back door .Works really well.Put it on a rig first because I did not think it would work.It did and it is awesome. It did take a lot longer to fit it than you,but I am older ,fatter and thicker than you .Love the vids .Thank you.
Love it F i bet I am fatter and less fit than you. What a great system though.
that made me chuckle
I installed a door bell using the same switch technology. Has worked well for a year so far.
Neat - and I like the idea of using them for bathroom lights!
Hi Chris, great video, I came across these products a while back and have used them, they seem to be reliable and I have never had any issues with them. I enjoy watching your videos, keep up the great work. Karl
Thank Karl 👍
Brilliant bit of kit. Definitely be using them in the future
U've just given me a genius idea for the conservatory lighting and tool shed. Nice 1 Chris
You absolute legend i love this
Cracking solution! Thanks for the clear explanation!
Use these to remove borrowed neutrals on 2 way lighting. Cut the live feed from the downstairs feed at the switch. The landing light is then fed from upstairs but better than a borrowed neutral. The upstairs and downstairs lighting can then be split on an RCD or RCBO board.
The worse thing you can do,is a borrowed neautral, got a right belt on one job I was working at,not only that it took me a long time to sus it out and put right .
New technology is to be embraced, makes your job a little bit easier. Good video
Great set up!!
Keep up the hard work and thanks for the awesome content stay safe and take care
Great looking product 👍
Fitted same controls for my garden lighting fed from garage at end of garden and switch in house soooooo easy 👍
Great video, nice and simple 👍
Flexi conduit kid approves
hahaha, where's your socks Bundy?
😂😂😂😂
You are the flexi king Nick on you go.
Love these. Used a few times now. No issues .even easier with the stick on switches just look a bit odd. Yet to try the built into switch type with no neutral I believe.
Almost too simple to be true. Very interested in this!
I’m thinking bathrooms too, instead of pull cords which are notoriously noisy, these nice quiet switches in the bathroom
Great system, years ago a similar system was available but unlike this MK set up you needed power to the switch. This is so much better I will be tying this out at my place before clients, could be a good money saver in time and indeed effort a good balance of product cost against first fix cost, brilliant. The number of click activation is a hell of a lot most light switches are used less than you think.
Now I do like that, nice bit of kit 👍
Cool switching system. 👍
Great job buddy still yet to use them as I wasn’t sure if you could get them as a grid switch rather than a massive switch but you have answered that nicely 👍👍
i had to fit one in a old farmhouse a few years ago when they first came out, its in a sitting room where the one light in the center of the room was a old fan plus light setup which had pull cords on it for switching. the couple that had the house moved in at wanted it changed but never thought to maybe look at doing before re doing the whole room decor which cost them a fair bit. so i told them there was one thing we could try and put it all together with a new light fitting which was big enough to mount and hide the reciver and its worked ever since, would still rather hardwire where possible, tbh
This is why i asked the question myself,In the long run is it better to hardwire, With that you know it will last a lifetime.
This is a great product. I am building MMC panelised houses which we are not pre wiring just yet but this looks like it could save us a huge amount of wiring. Just ever so slightly too expensive at the moment.
Great product and a good video to boot mate
Nice one, I’ll be looking for these.
Amazing product,,,, saves hrs on the job!!!!
Great video content, keep em coming.
Aamir
Amazing bit of kit.👌
I agree Andrew
Smart and easy, I think I might even manage that.
Brilliant. Love it.
Thanks Mark
wow, this is fantastic!
Great work
Great product
I love it, a simple wireless solution.
Great bit of kit, I will try these.
Great little kit
Thats a brilliant idea 😁
Very good Product 👍🏻
I wondered how these were wired, Cheers Chris..The missus will be right chuffed with ya :-)
Yeah I’m the light sleeper so constantly woke me up 😂
This could be the future of all lighting circuits
Future? it's already here
Great idea so easy to do.
Great Video!
Great piece of equipment
Very good job done ✔
Great idea 👍🏻
I installed the WiFi enabled one in a customers house, they were made up as they can control the lights via their smart speaker. Great product!
Yes I did see them will be using on another job
I did the same for an awkward kitchen lighting job, works well using the phone app and alexa
Fantastic
Added wifi switch & smart bulb to my kids bedroom uses Tuya smart life app. Now I have a series of buttons on my phone to flash his bulb different colours to get his attention like bedtime etc much better than shouting upstairs to them.
£15 for tempered glass wifi switch & £12 for rgbw wifi bulbs.
You can automate routines like switch on at 50% brightness with your alarm then increase brightness every x mins plus use Alexa etc to control them.
Absolutely brilliant for communicating with the kids when they're in bedrooms esp once they become teens & ignore you 🤣
Awsome what a great idea and great video. Subscibed and whating more of your videos.
This product is amazing.
I agree Keith 👍
Great bit of kit
Awsome peice of kit 👍
Forgot to add. What happens if theres a powercut? Do you have to go round to each receiver to push the button and re-program each switch?
Looks like a great solution
Wow really cool!
Love the channel
Thank you Richard
Its a massive game changer, great video..cheers mate..However i feel its going to be destructive for the domestic sparkies in the future as the" DIY dave's" will be in abundance again .."Then again, that's always been the case" lol
Quinetic also do IP67 rated Wireless Switches for outside & inside use.And TLC have Quinetic LED Ultra Slim Floodlights up to 50w fitted with a Quinetic receiver.
Handy for when replacing 2 way lighting on the stairs when the 3 core linking between has been damaged, saves lifting the carpets and floor boards up
Exactly Paul thanks for the comment
Fantastic video
Future is here
Surely the question is "who is creeping about in your house during the night and triggering the PIR?"
Nosferatu!
A family of Syrian refugees living in that spookily tidy loft?
It's the Pixies
Good job lad .👍
great bit of kit
Great stuff👍
Thank you
Hello, would you know if the grid switch would fit into a single gang patrice...the stick out parts of the grid frame look like they may get in the way of the switch plate cover ? Thanks in advanced.
Bluetooth Casambi is getting massive now. We are specifying this at work far more than DALI systems.
Battery switches, Battery PIR’sand even door sensors. Wireless systems are the future
Very smart solution
Chris, Are the receivers considered "maintenance free" so they can be fitted under carpeted/tiled floor boards? and would they need to be housed in a fire rated box when fitted above a ceiling/under a floor i.e as required for fire rated down lights? Cheers, Gordon
Nice compatibility with MK Grid Plus.
Great product , would cut time on rewires, meaning you couldn't charge as much for labour🤔
Good for doing your own house, saving a lot of time.
Wow! What a system! I was temp. worried about whether the switches required batteries, then looked up the products website where it states it uses the kinetic energy of the key press to generate the pulse picked up by the receiver (must be piezo-electric?). Genius! I will defo be using these in future.
The request to stop buttons in modern buses use the same technology
Hi there its so good to see a tradesman open minded willing to try all new materials on the market had an electrician in my house recently I was so frustrated with his non! Planning of routes back box sizes and correct amount of cables in the chasing of channels..which I prepared! !!!!.keep up the great work .do you know anybody in the Liverpool area who is half as professional as you..pleeeeese.
ASAP or I will go crazy!!!!lol
Merseyside electrical
Nice product. Simple as
I totally agree
GOOD STUFF CHRIS ALSO THERES A PRODUCT CALLED A WISE BOX DOES THE SAME SORT OF THING
These are easier for the homeowner - no batteries needed in the switches
You should definitely invest in a multi tool. That with a sharp blade would cause not chips around the cut in the plasterboard. They are worth their wait in gold 👍
They also do a built in receiver to a switch, handy to extend from existing to make two way. What PIR was it? I had issues with many PIRs then went to Danlers!
Really cool idea! Are you going to be using these on your other jobs from now on then?
Could you add a wireless switch to a two way stair lighting Circuit to make it 3 way ? If so which make would you recommend 🤔 thanks
Thanks for the video. Handy piece of kit. Haven't had the pleasure of using them yet.
Just one question. Did you repurpose the unsleeved earth for a switched live?
No it’s a 3 core and earth
These seem perfect for some lights in the garden not having to wire a switch back to the house
Good vid fella
Thank you Dave
good demo
