Some years ago, we did some work in a ladies house, additional sockets , lights, etc.The fuseboard had rewireable fuses and a wooden base, when we came to replace it with a unit with Rcbo,s as they had just become the requirement at that point, the lady was absolutley adament the fuseboard was fine and did not need replacing, and as she was the paying customer and she apparently knew more about it than we did.So therefore we did not give her any certification paperwork.Three years later, she was selling the house and her solicitor wrote to me about a certificate, I ignored the letter and herd no more.I did a signed written statement about the matter, which I retained on file and still have it.

Normally, the sockets with a dark grey faceplate and white rockers are the "Part M" range. Designed to help people with visual impairments.
I guess they went with the same color scheme for the IP rated accessories as the "Part M" accessories to reduce the number of variants they needed to make/stock.
What is strange though is the socket has inboard rockers, yet clicks "Part M range" catalogue only lists outboard rockers. So that particular socket seems to be exclusively used in the IP rated range.

i have a general question about the uk wiring system... would it allow for having each room with its own circuit breaker and RCD, or do you put as many sockets or light outlets on one breaker as you can? in Germany we dont have those ring mains, but all rooms are connected directly to the main power line via the main breaker board.

generally sockets are wired on ring mains, and seperatred between floors ( upstairs - Downstairs ) same with lighting. recently i've started wiring in 4mm 32A Radial power circuits, just safer in my opinion. of course not great to spur from which is a down side but when rewiring spuring off anything is just bloody lazy and not great practice.

Separate lighting and sockets each for upstairs and downstairs, kitchen has its own sockets ring, separate circuits for high current loads like cookers/oven/hob, shower
Not generally separated by room. Though I don’t think regs prohibit it but you’d need a lot of breakers and more wire as every room would need a radial for lighting and for sockets. 3 bed semi with an upstairs bathroom and downstairs loo, kitchen and living room would need 17 circuits (18 if electric shower) and thats not accounting. for outbuilding like garage, and now with EV chargers that would be a 20 way consumer unit.

Where do we stand not putting surge protection in a little board like that. I know it's not needed but do you have to fill in a form to say why?

Umm I made a judgement based on the led lamps I fitted costing £4 each and the sockets having the occasional garden tool plugged in.

Oh dear, oh dear on so many things wrong with this video but lmao you did not just placed wago box below that plumbing ( 12:24 ) which I do not trust. Unless you deliberately placed it there so when it goes bang, you come and say "Told you so, you need a new fuseboard!" 😂😂😂
