I find this control not very intuitive. For simpler operation, I'd like to set a desired temperature and maybe an on/off button. I imagine there are application when 3 timers are needed, but not as a mainstream application. Most of us have been setting heater temperatures all our lives. Why are they trying to recreate the wheel here?.

Maybe you should check out the PU-5 Manual controller. It's my favorite as I can turn on the heater without opening my eyes from a dead sleep! expeditionupfitter.com/collections/planar/products/simple-dial-controller-pu-5

Completely non-intuitive indeed. None of these heaters (webasto, espar, planar, chinese copies...) use a basic thermostat control approach. Mind boggling. Would love to understand why ?

How do you adjust the heater between it's high and low output settings?

You run your finger over the temp setting on the first display screen!

I understand how to change the temperature I desire by adjusting the touch dial. To me that is simply the set temp. My Autoterm 2 d can output either .8kw or 2kw so how do I pick which output to operate?

Does the heating process go constantly on and off, draining the battery? Each time it starts firing all over again it uses a lot of amps. If so, the simple analog controller PU-5 would be better.

No, it doesn't for that exact reason! The diesel heater does not work the same as your house furnace! You always have to manually turn off the heater unless you have it set up on a timer (the PU-28 allows you to do this).

@@expeditionupfitter Ok, thanks! I wish Autoterm told this in the manual and videos.

@@expeditionupfitter I'm still not sure how that would work. If the heater never turned off, wouldn't the temperature keep going up past the set point?

I have this thermostat and I set it for 45°F and left it. It over warmed my camper to 70°F. Any idea why?

Mine does the same thing. Seems like the thermostat doesn't work. I've found no support from Autoterm

Can a single controller control a hydronic and an air unit or do you need separate controllers for each?
