The William the first portrayed here wasn't the first King of the netherlands. The first King of the Netherlands was an other King William the first who became the king after the defeat of Napoleon. The one portrayed here is referred to WIliam the Silent in most english literature.

Yeah common mistake since the Netherlands didn't have actual kings until after napoleon although the stadholders of orange are the same dynasty so most people think the stadholders were also kings
