When Rita lifted her uncle up to hug him....., my tears just came out. That was the moment !
Such a beautiful powerful immediate connection.
This is very moving, she’s so fortunate that her uncle still lives. Thank you to Ms. Wilson for sharing her journey so publicly.
There would be no point in the programme if she didn't.
It's good to go back to one's roots...I thank-you M.Wilson. M Happy for you, having found your UNCLE...GOD BLESS.
Very beautiful
This is one of the most moving moments ever in this tv show.
Rita Wilson seems to be a lovely woman so happy she found her family
My dad’s youngest sister was in one of the labor camps in Romania during WW2, she apparently had a relationship with a soldier and became pregnant, when the war ended she started the trek back to Greece and left the child with nuns in one of the churches. She walked all the way to Corinth and unfortunately died 2 years later from an infection. People today have no idea how difficult life can be, they instead complain when they don’t get a decent wifi connection.
True. I used to live next to a cementary in Copenhagen. It had a big section of german war graves, it did surprise me that many were post war civilians, germans who died in Denmark. People deserves peace
so what happened to the child?? do you all have contact with that child now?
Tears streaming down my face 😭 What a beautiful thing to witness! ❤️ 👏 ❤️
Your Rita are living your dad’s dream and are giving so many hope for there’s……
Maybe Rita can make a movie about her father? I’m sure his is similar to many others at that time and place. We need to always remember the past. My heart breaks for her father, he lived with all this held tightly inside.
Rita’s mom and dad were the best people. Her father was a real
Character
Nice she met her 96 year old uncle
It is so moving when you find your roots… let alone meeting your blood line, you can clearly tell what a heart Rita has, the emotions happiness… exited to the max meeting his uncle… it does make you cry!!! I am Romanian living in Australia but 4 yrs ago visiting my cousin in Romania she took me to the land my great grandfather brought with the money he worked in Canada in 1880s just looking at that land I felt something so deep in my heart it’s like I was living those times!!!! So sad we don’t get to see all our relatives on this earth… I love Who do you think you are!!!! It’s everything in it… and it’s real!!!! ❤
This gentleman is so happy to se her. Although with tears in my eyes, it was still so heartwarming!
Goodness, she seems like a lovely woman. Very moving.
Iv stayed alive to meet you. Really nice words
Your roots define you. Rita has made this journey to celebrate her father’s life that was so complex and traumatic but triumphant in 5he end
Wow, so touching and moving to watch... So glad that Rita had the opportunity to meet her uncle and got a handwritten letter of her father... Greetings from The Netherlands 🇳🇱
Thank you Rita for sharing your life. I am sorry humanity has such a brutal history. And that despite hope and love still rises
How beautiful! Who can watch this and not cry? It was sad that America was once the beacon for those oppressed by fascists. Now, we are in danger of becoming them.
True! Our greatest generation fought them in WWII. Now, current politicians are going to extreme right. Greatest generation are rolling in their graves in disgust!
You’re delusional
Well he suffered more than enough from the Communists I would say...
in danger? you are already
Unfortunately after ww2 america imported a lot of nazis knowingly and that legacy combined with confederate regret and shame has led directly to Christian nationalism
Very much a blessing to have our more senior family members still with us.
Heartwarming. I’m so glad the connection was made. You cannot watch this without crying.
How wonderful for her to find her uncle! This is so precious, I was crying right along with her.
You and I. So touching. Beautiful
Her uncle is so cute, God bless❤
nice that she could meet him. happy for both of them.
I'm not crying, you are!
Yup
I'm making onion stew that's all, I swear
Heart warming to see them reconnected after so many years😢❤
Bless them. Made me cry
Now THIS is lovely! 🤗 What CZcams should really be about. Uncle has such bright, twinkly eyes - I'd not be surprised to learn he was a mischievous little lad who continued to laugh a lot throughout his 96 years 😄 Smashing, Thank You 🤓
That is so powerful! I wish we had a show like this in Brazil. Sadly a lot of our history is getting lost.
Visit you local catholic church, they keep good records!
Henrique, eu também gostaria
@@MachivelianBear I already have a pretty consistent family tree, but I wish more people care about genealogy like me.
so sad hope it will repair
It is in dna and can be reclaimed
I'm just sitting here sobbing
Me too😢
Toughen up sunshine
Same
This is a beautiful story of Family History
Nothing is more important than family. We are all family to each other.
Rita is such a kind person!
It‘s nice to see that Rita has a big ❤
So touching!
I cried with pride and joy for you on receiving the letter handwritten by your Dad.
This and Applegate. I love this show.
That letter is priceless. ❤
Sad but rewarding story
Wow...this would make a good movie. Cried like a baby to learn about Rita Wison's father.
I’m crying at how beautiful and moving this moment was.
I am so happy for you Mrs. Wilson, my Grandparents parents were brutally massacred in the 1915 genocide and then he found his sister in America in1971. What a feeling that was. God Bless for your resistance to find your family.
Yeah im sure they were.
Other Typical Armenian Made Up Story, it's So Redicoulsly Lie.
@@mehmetyetis1230 So, I guess you do not read, write or understand the history, also it is typical for Turks to deny the history of Genicide to Armenians, and also autrocities in Greece, to Greeks and to Assryans
@@vickikirakosian we are not refusing to seat on the table to open front of the world, to open History's Archive once and all!
@@mehmetyetis1230 yes, you are, afraid, and there are picturs, documents, are they all FALSE! afraid that all the archives, land will be given back
This is an amazing story. So happy for them. Thank you for sharing Rita and family - feels lucky to even hear it !
I cried watching this, why is humanity so cruel, ONE FAMILY FOLKS PLEASE ONE LOVE ❤️
Very great story, this is worth watching, too bad mainstream t.v. doesn't show this.
Wow!! I’m crying as I watch this.
I have cried the last 2 videos...ugh cryin people get me..as we go along their journey too..
Gosh darn it! Don’t watch this at work on your lunch 😂 ❤
What an accomplishment for a man coming from an impoverished Bulgaria of the 50s to put his kids on a easy path to prosperity and success in LA...Hope Rita saw how much progress Bulgaria has made in the last 2 decades
I love how huggey they are. Most old folks aren’t unless your actual grandparent and you’re still a child.
It's the Balkans, people are huggy
Are what a sweet man i hope she stay in touch and keeps going to see him.
I have been crying...
Thank you Rita for sharing this. You’d never met, but it was clear that you both loved each other immediately.
How lucky she was. Fabulous story! 💖💫🦋
How sweet
"I don't know if you can stand, but you're going to now!"
Ritas Story has got to be one of the most emotional ones ive seen 😢
I can't imagine having to wait that long to find out what happened to someone I loved.
Sobbing.. met my birth father at 40, birth mother at 44
Rita looks like her family there😊
Oh my GOD very inspiring 🙏
Ok, this is the best yet
God bless America
Rita, this was a lovely segment. Our country is a mess, but people still come because they see America as a better alternative to where they came from. I hope this country finds its soul and heart.
Wonderful 🧡
😭😭 now I can't breathe...so bittersweet ❤🫂
Wow!!!
How I wish I could find my family history, 30 years I've been searching.
Interesting to see who these actors ancestors are and see how they project themselves for a show.
Big Love❤
Translation is written work. Interpretation is spoken work.
God bless America!
Hope she bring uncle and relatives to usa
Maybe they don't want to come to the usa
328 W 43rd St. from the letter is a beautiful pre-war building which still exists.
The commercials at the beginning made me understand why so many people comment without actually watching videos.
You can EASILY see the family resemblance.
This was one of the most poignant stories they had. This and Lisa Kudrow's were amazing.
🥺
My father fled his country. I always wished to live what she’s living here. Took dns tests and went on so many genealogy sites I’m stuck can’t figure anything out.
❤❤❤❤
😢😢😢
I can only imagine that it would cost thousands and thousands of dollars to have these professional geneologists dig that deeply into your family tree. I wish I could afford it, it would be very interesting to learn about my ancestors.
I love this ❤ ive been reserching my family on both sides of my parents and i always end up in ireland or germany. But some are a different race. I am trying to find out what nationality they are. Ive some in france but theyre not french. Its really tiresome for me. But i hope i get to the bottom of it all. Like her.
School wasn’t free here….maybe he meant you are free to pursue any type of education for work, without the government telling you what areas of study & career you would be allowed to do.
@DVD927. I think he was referring to K-12 education level. Coming from a Communist country, his education level wasn't probably wasn't very good, not to mention that any education he might have had could have been disrupted by the war.
The letter was translated into English for Rita so it might just be how they translated it.
@@mitchmiller7204The level of education in the communist countries was far better than in the democratic world. As a kid that studied in both education systems I confirm that.
hope she left him a check
You can bet that old man for the rest of his life will not have to worry about money or not being comfortable
They need to show experiences like these to young people in schools. We need pride in America again. We are the best country on the Earth!
Great story. I am not sure why Rita would not acknowledge after finding out that her true ethnic heritage is Turkish. Many Bulgarian Turks left Bulgaria after the great purge. Names are Turkish etc. Dads name Hasan Ibrahim is Turkish. Bulgaria forced the ethnic Turks to'Bulgarise' their surnames to wipe away any of their history relating to the Ootoman empire, so they added off to the ending of surnames so Ibrahim became Ibrahimoff.
YES, GOD BLESS AMERICA 🇺🇸💯🙏. AMERICA THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING YOU DO FOR IMMIGRANTS 🙏🙏🙏🙏❤️
Lmao immigrants made America
This was so beautiful, tears while watching, it's so sad how much things have changed with immigrants...very sad...
America remains the dream of millions who have dreamed of being given simply the opportunity to try. To try to have a decent life through their own efforts. That dream is not ended yet.
You do know that repeatedly through our our lives were told that " you can be anything you want in America" but what others don't know is that you can be anything you want to be in Germany, Australia, Canada, Sweden, Norway, Iceland, etc too. In fact an American woman is better off living in Iceland than in USA. On the day she arrives there she has quality medical care and can enroll her children in day care free of charge. She can even give birth without paying anything. If her mate flakes out on her and leaves her and the children she and the children NEVER lose their medical insurance. I went to visit my relatives in Germany, Greece and Denmark and saw they lived better than me from California. I also know 6 Mexican Americans who are THRIVING in Germany as my uncle was an immigrant there from Greece. If you are an engineer or biologist or any one with a science background and you come to America today WE NEED YOU. In fact they were recruiting phillipino science teachers for schools in California because we didn't have as much as we needed. Unfortunately only people who are poor want to come here and it will take generations for them to keep their heads above water. Trump asked the Norwegian leader why more Norwegians don't immigrate here. I already knew the answer because I was engaged to an immigrant to Sweden who didn't want to come here. He was a millionaire in swedish crowns opening up businesses like leather shops and hair salons. He immigrated there as a preteen and in 13 years was already wealthy. This would never happen today in the USA but it does in other countries. One of the Mexican men I know in Germany opened up a Mexican restaurant
He's doing exceptionally well and doesn't have to worry about losing his medical insurance if the business falls or if he loses his eyesight, etc like he would here.
@@christinanielsen1917😔🙏🙏💛💚💙
@@christinanielsen1917 Thank you for demystifying the American Dream.
You guess it’s the American Dream ? Po Po !
Funny how her relatives in N. Greek spoke Turkish, and her uncle Albanian as that did not sound like Slavic/Bulgarian. But I know many Bulgarians understands and speaks Turkish as well.
The uncle spoke Bulgarian. I understood him very well.
Father is Hasan, uncle is Ferhat! Those names are very Turkish.. The translator is Bulgarian, therefore he speaks Bulgarian with her.. In communist era, all spoke Bulgarian and man is 96..
Weird thing is that his father never came to his brother! One letter in 70 years...
I think her big brother came back to her ad her son, especially since they share the same birthday
👍
This show is not available in my country, but was not Rita Wilson from Greek descent?
Her mother is Greek.
@@Topolab thank you! , I did not know that!
Yes, his father is a Turkish, named Hasan! Became Alan in the US. That makes her half Turkish, but I think she is still not there😅
For a person as blessed as you, if you don't know what the American Dream is by now, well...what can you say.
Language barrier
She's do embarrassed of being Turkish
She's Greek Orthodox, so she's obviously not going to like it
Immigrant mentality, we have lost this
Her entire family got turkish names , yet still she doesnt even mention it 😮
I not see all off this
