The fact Rita expressed remorse and cried for her father's first wife... it proves to me she's a good Woman. Tom Hanks married a good woman, a kind woman
Brought tears to my eyes. So much heartache our family members can go through that we never even know about.
Well Rita has had a blessed privileged life. With high return on effort. Some get nothing, have nothing, no matter how hard they try.
Those who lived through WWII in Europe suffered through so much, such hard, painful times. Most people don't realize that there was food rationing, etc. until into the 1950s.
When I was 13, I discovered a birth certificate for a baby named John August born in 1947. I asked my mother who he is and she told me he was my older brother, who was born a " blue baby" and he died within hours.
Immediately upon learning this, I missed him. To this day I still miss my older brother whom I never knew. Neither of my parents could ever speak of him but for the basic facts. The memory pained them the rest of their lives. One never recovers from something like that.
I am sorry for your loss. I also lost a younger brother when I was 5, Steven Warriner, who was a blue baby in 1962 due to a missing valve in his heart. I got to hold him several times and was crushed when he died before 6 months of age. Now there are prosthetics that can save the lives of such infants. My mother lost her hair when Steven died. It regrew but was never the same. She was a pediatric nurse specialist and worked with high risk infants helping parents bond with and treat their babies. I don’t know how she did that after the loss of her son but she did that until she had to retire.
@@21majc , sometimes working in the field helps a person heal from the experience. She probably saved a lot of other babies. How wonderful! Hugs to you.
My uncle was also a "blue baby" and needed a complete blood transfusion (which was available in England in 1942 when he was born.) This phenomenon occurs when a mother with O-negative blood creates an immune response against her baby with a different blood type. My maternal grandmother had O-negative blood. My daughter does too, but now we have a medicine called Rho-gam that can prevent those deadly reactions. I thank God for science. :-)
@@chatterjeelinda4 there are multiple causes of "blue baby syndrome's, there's one caused by bad well water, there's Tetralogy of Fallot, hyaline membrane disease (that JFKs son, Patrick, died from), floppy or missing heart valve/s, there are multiple heart and lung abnormalities to name a few.
They are called blue due to cyanosis, a lack of oxygen in the blood. That causes lips, finger nails and then skin to turn blueish in humans, old and young, and mammals. (My little dog developed blueish lips and muzzle, as she got old, due to the floppy valve in her heart, that it appears she was born with. She takes medicine now.)
@@chatterjeelinda4 You make a good point. Thank you.
This was gut-wrenching. Better to know then to wonder forever but it is so sad that none of that family exists anymore
ITS SO SAD HOW PEOPLE WERE TREATED BACK THEN. BECAUSE THEY WERE MUSLIM THEY WERE TREATED SO BADLY. ITS SO UPSETTING AND SAD

What an empathetic and classy lady.
We humans go through a lot of pain.. So good that her father still managed to find happiness after this horrific experience...!! Poor mother and son... 😢
Oh Rita, how hard it is to find out about our families. My heart goes out to you!😢
Some of these stories are so heartbreaking.
It’s incredible how much we don’t know about our parents lives.
Wow! Heartbreaking news for Rita Wilson!
While researching some information on my great-grandmother in cemetery records, I discovered that there was a grave next to hers with a little girl who was the daughter of her and my great-grandfather. I thought my grandfather was an only child, so I compared the dates. The little girl was born two years before my grandfather and died one month before he was born. I asked my mother if her father had a sister and she said no. I told her that he did have a sister who died just before he was born and my mother didn't know that.
I found during my family history research that my grandmother's first baby died on the same day I was born exactly 40 years later. To the day.
Out of knowhere and unexpected I found this very emotional ❤️ God bless all the loved ones who have passed over amen 🙏
I don’t know why Im crying listening to her story.
I totally understand why he never told his family. I know that pain; it hurts on a cellular level and something you never get over. Basically you just learn to live with it & every time you think about it you feel extreme guilt for not letting it destroy you. It gives me a bad taste in my mouth and I feel numb which is worse than any other feeling in my opinion. Opening up about something like that to your second wife & kids is just not something I could possibly do bc then you worry about what they’re thinking about ‘if you love them as much as you did them’ & crazy stuff like that. Oooooof I feel horrible for her dad.
Wow this one has me bawling. Her poor father ; his wife and son ...wow
My heart goes out to Rita Wilson. So sad she never knew about a brother, then to find he was deceased.
It's more sad that they died one after another, and so young, to begin with.
Rita's father survived hell on earth & finally finds love. A son is born, but loses both his new bride & son. How emotionally traumatic.
And were it not for that tragedy, her father would have not married or met ritas mother and Rita would not exist today. Kife is bizarre and tragic
Oh my I just cried too when she was told that her half brother died as I was imagining her meeting this old guy. (Alternative universe scenario).
Later in the show she meets her father's half brother.
My mother had eclampsia and was convulsing when I was born but obviously we both survived. That was 1954 in Toronto but now, mothers are monitored more closely . Eclampsia is a severe form of toxemia.
I am so sorry Rita for a loss you never knew of.I absolutely adore you and Tom and Im so happy he's there to help you.❤❤🙏🙏
My heart this was heartbreaking. I found while researching my ancestry that my grandmother had a child before my mom, and that child didn’t live past infancy. It’s just so sad to think about, because she loved children so much I can imagine how it hurt her.
That brought tears to my eyes. Such a sad story.
This makes me cry for her.
On researching my grandfathers life before he came to Britain in 1947 we were absolutely amazed to find that he was considered a hero in Ukraine he had an amazing story and suffered unbelievable loss in the Second World War , he had never spoken about his past to anyone except my grandmother who only ever said that the war had killed everyone he loved. He was born in 1924 fought with the Ukrainian partisans and later the Poles fell foul of the Russians and fled to England in the spring of 1947 and even this journey across Europe during the late summer and winter of 46 47 must have been an epic in the making, we will never know!
I'm crying. I also was born on December 26th. How sad to see and feel the pain of your father.
Its always very painful to find out that you are having someone out there who is related and a very part of you that you never knew about.l know how Ms Rita Wilson had felt about this whole thing.
I found out doing online research on my family that my grandmother's first baby died shortly after its birth and discovered it on the 100th anniversary date of the death of the infant. I felt like it was an uncanny coincidence.
Bless her heart, what sad family history to discover.
So sad that he lived his whole life with the secret knowing his daughter's birthday was the same day he got married to his first wife who passed along with the son oh that poor man
Sorry for Rita's loss
Winnie Wallace.. You seem a very caring and likeable person Rita.
Great video. It's interesting to know about one's family.
She bares such a striking resemblance to Lindsay Wagner, it boggles my mind that they aren't related. Every time I see her I think of that old sitcom "The Bionic Woman" or "The Six Million Dollar Man". Both are beautiful.
So sad!! 😞 I believe in those dates also with my dad. He was born on the 7th of January, myself the 7th of October, my younger sister the 7th of March my older sister the 17th of August, 7 in the number and my brother the 28 of August, a multiple of 7. It's crazy. My lucky number has always been 7. ❤❤❤❤
When I was doing research on my family, I found my great grandmother had a second daughter that nobody knew about... She died at birth.... It was a surprise to my dad and my aunt.....
The death of the child, is absolutely heartbreaking
Wow so sad😢.I can understand why her father didn’t say anything to Rita the sadness of her father’s marriage to Alice and his first son.
He may have felt guilt about it because death was from pregnancy
People were much more stoic back then. They felt just as deeply, but if there was nothing to be done, they didn't have time to dwell on it. Life was a struggle.
@@patmaurer8541 True. And also the fact that they kept many things intimate and even 'secret', whereas today's society encourages people to express their feelings and talk.
Such a sad story..😢
now im crying....
This is very sad and there is no such thing as a coincidence never
My Mother's mother also died during the war. She could have lived, but it would have meant the death of her unborn brother. My Oma choose to risk her own life instead. They both died. She died of a burst Appendicitis. Both my Grand mother and uncle are buried together. I have taken over the grave, and plan on visiting next year to place a plaque upon it. I feel Rita's pain indirectly. For family that was never meant to be. RIP Ritas brother and my Oma and Uncle.
Me too.. had a 1/2 brother.. his name was Carlos and he was amazing.. he thought I knew. Mom never admitted it
How sad to find out you have a half brother only to learn he passed so young. I think that is going to stay with her for a long time.
😢 poor mother and son … unfortunately
Wow. I cant imagine what was going through her head.
My story is so sad I really don’t talk about it. Sometimes you just have to “walk on in life”.
It was bitter for me but I couldn’t change anything.
may GOD grant you peace Rita.
I've been to Plovdiv.
Doing family research and found out my mother had a little brother who died when he was 6 months old. She was a toddler. She never mentioned this and i don't know if she knew and didn't find this out until after she passed
I found 2 sisters I never knew of on ancestry one messaged me
I really must stop watching these videos. There is a pain in my neck trying and failing to hold back the tears. I got this recommendation from CZcams and I have no idea who Rita Wilson is but the story of her dad's first wife and her brother is bitter.
Well known actress and producer. Married to Tom Hanks
@@happytraveller2122 Thank you. I do not live in the USA and I do not watch many modern movies from Hollywood so I am uninformed about celebrities. I live in Spain and I commented on the Martin Sheen (Ramón Estévez) program about his Spanish family. I guess that is why I got the recommendation to watch the one about Rita Wilson.
Same
❤️
I bet someone has pictures of this woman and her brother. There are family members still missing them.
I understand why he wanted to start a whole new life 😢
Your brother is watching over you !
Wow
ooof..going from "I have a half-brother??!!" to "nope"..that sucks.
😢😢😢❤
My grand-grand-grand... grandfather was Jinkins Khan. I just discovered I have 100+ million brothers and sisters.
Then perhaps you should learn the correct spelling of his name!!!

Sad news
Turks suffered with Balkan disaster. His grandfather is Turkish.
Her grandfather is ethnic Bulgarian, that's why he was a refugee in Plovdiv. They speak Bulgarian to this day.
Markaryan it is Armenian name, so her brother was Armenian
Says the Armenian.
Her father is turkish and not greek or bulgarian. He belonged to the Turkish minority in Greece.
🤦🏼♀️ they were Muslim Bulgarians
Now it is clear that he was TÛRK as it is officially stated in the document and belive me bulgarians do not state that for a penny if he wasn't. If he was pomak they would say that or probably just bulgar!
Wow, her fathers first wife was 16 when she had her baby, when he was 24.
Rita Wilson needs to go see Tyler Henry the Hollywood medium.
Absolute one of the craziest people in Hollywood, and that's saying something.
Why crazy.
What?
her father muslim and married went to the usa had another family her and her siblings wow
Zróbcie tłumaczenie na polski
Do it yourself from the settings in the video.
Kappy
His First Wife was an Armenian Bulgarian crazy eh ?
I don’t know it is tough to say if actors truly cry or just acting. Don’t want to be rude
Who is Rita Wilson
Look it up! Some people are so lazy!
. All paper records stating fathers names should be validated with DNA as loads of times wrong fathers are written in documents for all sorts of reasons. Rita cannot DNA test, as the baby boy died, but Rita cannot be sure that he was her fathers child...I have done enough DNA investigation to know that many people did not have the father named on the birth cert. In fact I would say it happened "all the time" , at least once in every family somewhere
The title should say the Rita Wilson learns that she has a previously unknown half brother.
I had to google who Rita Wilson is: Who does she think she is?
So Rita Wilson has Muslim genes ❤❤
Fine. Who is Rita Wilson by the way?
Tom Hanks' wife, American actress.
Yeah right... lol
You have a brother
Really? :D
Not really actualy...
:(
Her father at age 23/24 got a 15-year-old CHILD pregnant. That is disgusting. Ya, it was 1945, not 2023, but that is just gross.
Turkish Armenian marriage
The Armenian girl had no other choice in that era, the 23/24 year old man got her pregnant when she was only a 15 year old girl
She and Tom Hanks had their son kidnapped and taken to a torture camp.
Where can i find information about that?
Either that or he bumped both of them off and legged it to America…😳
Nope can't even watch this she is married to Hanks and yeah just can't be bothered, People need to quit putting these people on pedestals. Sorry if no one likes my position on this, scroll on and enjoy your day.
Pointless comment
@@soulembodied That's a fairly blunt comment also...I guess that makes us even.
Don't worry she got paid to do this show and it cost her nothing to find out her families history. Why do these elitists think I care about their family history?
I care.
Why are you watching this if you don’t?
Are you being forced to watch?
Sorry but i think all this emotion around someone you've never met is purely psychological and the result of believing that your blood relatives have some special bond that triggers attachment even when you have never had any contact with them .
i met my half brothers and sisters at around 45 and can say it was nothng special . as it turned out they were a bunch of annoying Ah . i continued to see the manly if my father wanted us to meet. i didn't want to hurt his feelings but it meant zero to me .
at the beginning of the 17/18/19/20th century, many young Albanians took the road to Turkey, but some of them remained in Macedonia and Bulgaria, and it seems that this is the true case of your family, dear Rita Wilson.
They were Pomaks in her case.
Her father was Bulgarian Muslim or Pomak, not Albanian.
@@shinjineesen400 hasan halil ibrahimi - dorotea tziku = these names are neither Slavic nor Greek = that's why I said they could be Albanian and look at Rita's beautiful face, I guarantee you that this has 100% Albanian roots.
@@shinjineesen400 don't forget that the Illyrian tribes lived in the Illyrian peninsula and only the Albanian language was spoken, the Slavic Greeks came after the Byzantine period, the name Balkans came in the 18th century, so from Austria to the Aegean Sea was the Illyrian peninsula.
I believe in reencarnation and one of them is the same espirit of Emil. 26? too much of a coincidence. Love her.
