  • Having spent a few days at Buggy Basin near Whaley Bridge, I need to pick up some supplies and then head out to the countryside. I have heard a rumour that CRT are going to open Marple locks for a day to allow boats off the Upper Peak Forest canal.

    The cruise to Tesco’s was very relaxing, the drone footage was great showing off the beautiful country side. But the heron and the dog were the best!

      That dog was amazing. Just loved swimming. Even carried a stick with him. 🐕‍🦺

    Like other subscribers I, too, agree that your vlogs are tops!
    Many others haven't gotten all the good things for a great vlog right as you have done straightaway, Steve!
    You have a keen eye for visuals, good ear for appropriate, limited and unobtrusive music, and show real-time cruising without time lapse and other annoying affects.
    In short, thanks for keeping the canal the front-and-center "star" of your vlogs!

    Thanks for sharing this part of your life. You make everything seem so easy. That heron footage was great. They are normally so shy. Thanks for that. You have a lot of patience filming such activity. So enjoyable.

    Thanks for taking me along for the ride. We had a glorious 2 week trip on the Stourport Ring in 1997 and enjoyed every bit of it. I watch all the Narrowboat Vlogs as a substitute for being able to be there as it’s a long way from Australia. Nothing like that here in Oz.
    I do like the peace and quiet of the life on the cut, but I personally prefer the “natural” soundtrack you have most of the time. I’m afraid I turn the sound almost off when recorded music intrudes on vlogs. Appreciate the time you spend on sharing it with others 👍. Regards, Rick

    • @slowboatthroughbritain
      @slowboatthroughbritain  Před 4 lety

      Thanks Rick, but you have some great beaches in Oz. I try to keep the soundtrack varied. Hopefully the music where used blends in. Sometimes used to cover wind noise on mic as well

    Hi steve.... that is a very neat trick to get your boat off the mooring... loved the drone footage... my late granddad always said there is only a week between a good haircut and a bad one... if it's not to bad it will grow out in a week.... if it's that bad you will get used to it in a week...lol.... thanks for sharing that lovely little cruise.... keep safe.... until the next one...

    Google Earth has never heard of Buggy Basin unfortunately, but your mention of Whaley Bridge and my keen eye for detail found it pretty smartly 😃
    It was interesting to follow your journey on the map, despite the canal covered in many places by overhanging trees. Lovely weather you had, and great photography of nature. If I had a Narrowboat, I'd probably get a folding bike for those trips to TESCO, but only if it wasn't raining!

    Hi Steve another lovely vlog, super scenery and drone footage accompanied by restful music, the heron was a star performer, not much of a fisherman but a great show- off, as for the dog, get me out.
    Best wishes keep the vlogs coming.

    • @slowboatthroughbritain
      @slowboatthroughbritain  Před 3 lety

      Glad you enjoyed it. One of the most peaceful moorings I have used. The heron visited everyday and didn't seem frightened of anything apart from a moorhen with chicks which chased it off. Unfortunately the footage I got was too rushed to be usable.:( The dog even carried it's stick with it in the water.

    Just wanna say, from one Steve to another, you have the magic & this vlog with tips on leaving mooring for your boat takes it up one more level!! (Sorry, but I can over-gratify when it's another Steve) Also, sorry I'm four weeks behind.. however, I have a question - what's the name of your often viewed team top with the emblem including the waves

      Hi Robbie she is 57ft 4in without fenders. The only thing that upsets her is a crosswind but thats pretty much standard for most boats

    May I ask a couple of general questions, please?
    How long is your boat?
    As a continuous cruiser, how much does your fuel cost per month?
    I hope question 2 isn’t too rude. Thank you.

    • @slowboatthroughbritain
      @slowboatthroughbritain  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi, Moorland Rose is 57ft 6in long. Diesel varies but I probably average about £35 per month.

    • @wendycrooks875

      @@slowboatthroughbritain Many thanks Steve, much appreciated. Our boat will be 57ft. We are having 3 solar panels installed but I have no idea of their output! Just trying to get some idea of what our costs might be. If we can, we’ll stop at some moorings for a few weeks. We won’t be in a hurry to get anywhere lol.
