  • From Great Haywood to Fradley I pass over the River Trent at Brindley Bank.
This was the site of the murder of a young housewife back in 1839. I find out about the details of the case.
The story is also the basis of an Inspector Morse episode 'The Wench Is Dead' starring John Thaw.

Thank you. Yes such a shame to see the cottage go to ruin. Also a huge swathe of woodland chopped down😔

Thanks. My preferred tipple is a traditional Burton bitter. Having worked for a small brewery I have to say that their Burton Bridge Bitter is my favorite.

Was this the murder that was featured in the Inspector Morse mystery video?

Yes, the episode 'The wench is dead' is based on this murder. Although it is transferred to Oxford where Morse is set.
