This is now one of my favourite channels ☺️I've not finished watching but I came across your channel this morning and I've binged watched so many of these comparison videos, definitely going to be adjusting my shopping to try more of the just essentials range 👀 thank you for these videos they are really informative and very funny 🤣 as a northerner myself it's good to see someone from my own neck of the woods 🤝🏼
I agree Gaz, that mayflower sauce is delicious! They have a video on here showing how to make a Chinese chicken curry using their sauce mix and it tastes just like a takeaway curry at a fraction on the price 👍🏻
Hey Gaz new subscriber here, love your salt of the earth perspective and honest takes! And at a time like this your content is extremely valuable to us plebs trying to make ends meet.
I do like the Asda one it's lovely with a bit of vinegar on 😋 I have found though there seems to be less chips than when I first started getting them. But it's still decent enough for the price. Another good review Gareth x
Good review thanks Gareth, I noticed the one you liked best was the one with crinkle cut chips, they are always a winner for me, better than the straight cut ones, thanks again
Top review, Gareth. Thank you. They just get better and better, and they weren't bad to start with ! I'm not a Curry Man I'm afraid, but they both looked nice I have to say. Don't think you would be disappointed with either. Cheers !
Hi there was another great video like always just to say I do enjoy watching these videos like how you do them think it’s a good idea and it shows everybody the difference in the value and what the quality is like as well it’s a really good work keep up the good work
I do my grocery shopping online because of ill-health and from Morrison's regularly get the Bisto Chips In Curry Sauce, which says it is mild but isn't mild enough for me, so I mix mayonnaise into the curry sauce to make it milder, so that it tastes like a coronation curry sauce and I enjoy it that way. That's usually what I do if a curry sauce isn't mild enough for me otherwise I wouldn't be able to eat it. I have thought if ever I do a online grocery shop at Asda that I would try their version of chips in curry sauce.
I have tried the mayflower one and thought the chips were awful but will try the asda one, cheers Gareth matey for another honest review, stay safe always.
Gaz , myself and the missus have just had the Mayflower curry sauce and chips. I cooked also mini chicken fillets with mushrooms , onions and some garlic powder. We both agreed that your review as usual was spot on . Lol no punn intended . I found out from a lovely cashier said they also sell the curry sauce. It's very very popular .
Did a Tesco shop today. Been binging your channel for the past week, so I bought the cheapest alternative to everything I usually get. Cant believe how much I saved . Let's see how it goes! Thanks your channel is helpful, not just entertaining 👊👊👊
What was the factory called? I can remember 15 years or so ago collecting some stuff from a factory in Donny & whilst waiting I saw pallets of the boxes of curry powder. Buggered if I remember.
Love your videos. Watch them all the time! Making me fancy chips n curry now. Especially the mayflower ones. You can’t explain the taste of it but I know exactly what you mean about the flavour 😅
I buy the Mayflower ones from our local Heron, lovely curry sauce and plenty of it. I put what I don't need into small foil dishes - or an ice cube tray - and freeze them.
Both very nice Gareth, much cheaper than going to a Chinese or chippy. I love the Mayflower Beef Curries they sell in Poundland A few months ago they were £1.50, now they are £2.00 Much more than 10% inflation (I think shops are milking it) 10% inflation would mean £1.65 (NOT £2.00) We are being diddled 👍🏻👍🏻😁😁
Great reviews as usual Gareth.I cant shop at Asda anymore due to the price on the shelf being different from the scanned price, this has been going on for years, today at the Arbroath store it was the FIRST thing i picked up, a French Stick with lable at £1.10 scanned through at £1.15 only 5p but it happens all the time. and has been going on since before the current takeover.
Same ,its not just a coincidence, I watch all prices, and you can guarantee, I've got to call assistant to adjust computer, and get my money back, I bet ya some people walk away, in hurry ,need to catch bus etc or just accept,,but imagine if it was a small shop( if ya can find one)
I love the Mayflower curry and chips, Iceland have their own version as well although I've not seen it lately. With the Iceland one you do get a bigger portion but the quality isn't as good as it is with the Mayflower.
I bought some spaghetti bolognese sainsburys own brand it was 70p a can, might have been an offer but Heinz was £1 .40, dropped in a couple of weeks later same can 90p a can, they say inflation is lower, but I am not seeing that when shopping. 20p rise in 2 weeks.
I was in farmfoods today and they have some signature meals that look decent. They're 3 for £10. Lamb keema bhuna, the steak cottage pie and the butter chicken looked the nicest. They also have some new Kershaw's meals they do spaghetti Bolognese with garlic bread and lasagne and chips. Another item that looked interesting was some chicken mini fillets, salt and vinegar flavour and the odd one sour cream and onion flavour.
I love chips and curry sauce from the Chinese or the chippy, these look a lot like my plate once I’ve got the chips out and poured the sauce on. I’ll grab some and give it a try.
I’m sure a lot of Chinese places use mayflower, there’s fish shops by me that use it too! Can’t deal the sweet curry sauce especially not with sultanas 🤢
@@IamBATMAN2024 I didn’t know they put fruit in it like apples. I just read that earlier on another comment and it freaked me out a bit. I don’t think I’ve ever had fruity curry sauce.
I'm quite fond of the Mayflower curry sauce mix - I make up a pan's worth on the hob, then throw in the cooked chips and give it a good old stir around to make sure all the chips are coated. 😋
I used to love getting the Mayflower frozen curry sauce packets from Heron foods. Quick blast in the microwave then pop it over some proper cooked chips and you can't go wrong. Always find these chip meals a bit lacking in quantity.. but maybe that's just me being greedy 🤔😂
I have never eaten chips and curry sauce but would like to try it now. The Mayflower one looked good. Not sure why but crinkle cut chips always taste better🤣
Gareth you make me laugh, don't change anything in the way you do your videos. Within a few minutes you forgot the price, turning 50 is the problem age is creeping up with you. 😄👍🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Great review,i buy McCain micro chips and Asda chip shop curry sauce granules if Iam feeling decadent! The McCains are expensive but it stops me from going mental..and its got to be crinkle.
You made me and the missus hungry gazzer.. So we chipped some nice potatoes.. Fried up a packet of butchers choice sausages.. Then made up some lovely mayflower curry on the hob.. Tipped all over the chips.. Bit of salt and vinegar.. Bang bloody lovely.
I used to buy the Asda one years ago, it is very nice. They also used to do chips in gravy, and cheese omlettes, I loved the omlettes, there was 2 in a box, microwave them, they were light and delicious, I wish they still did them now.
Thanks for putting me on to the farmfood 8 pack fishcakes exacjly the same as the chippy fishcakes and they charge nearly as much for one as it costs for a pack of 8 luv em
Good video gareth. At a time when we are all looking for value for money mayflower never let's you down. Their curry sauce is very close to takeaway quality imo.
I literally have no interest in curry. In fact, I can't even tolerate the spice in a pack of mild enchiladas. 😂 But I love comparison videos and I love your videos! So here I am watching anyway! By the way, which part of Yorkshire are you from? I'm in Mytholmroyd down in the Calder Valley, the town that always floods. 😂
I like you do the comparison - and as ever, your vids. But I do worry that people buy these things to save money, when they really aren't.
