Lyrics:
Oh the dead don’t die
Any more than you or I
They’re just ghosts inside a dream
Of a life that we don’t own
They walk around us all the time
Never paying any mind
To the silly lives we lead
Or the reaping we’ve all sown
There’s a cup of coffee waiting on every corner
Someday we’re gonna wake up and find the corner’s gone
But the dead will still be walking ‘round in this old world alone
After life is over
The afterlife goes on
There’ll be old friends walking ‘round
In a somewhat familiar town
That you saw once when you looked up from your phone
Nobody bothers saying hi
And you can save all your goodbyes
Stop trying to pretend that we’re all not at home
And the streets will look so empty in the morning
There’ll be no one out at night
For the lights to shine down on
But the dead will still be walking ‘round in this old world alone
After life is over
The afterlife goes on
Hearts break when loved ones’ journey on
At the thought that they’re now forever gone
So we tell ourselves they’re all still around us all the time
Gone but not forgotten
Just memories left behind
But the dead will still be walking ‘round in this old world alone
After life is over
The afterlife goes on
After life is over
The afterlife goes on

It is a great song.

Beautiful song.
Brilliant movie.
You serious? This was on Netflix?!

Oh, it's The Dead Don't Die, from Sturgill Simpson. Love that song.
Keepin the song alive in 2024 badass song
I love how the movie was practically just one long music video for this song. It was weird and all over the place but a very unique and funny idea for a film 😂

Yeah... one of those films that draws a cult following over time. If time goes on being regarded by anyone at all. Never mind the day coming up in glory anymore for now on... I suppose when my life is over all I will have left is a few cool dreams and memories to dwell on for all of time. (Thats what the script I saw said)
Man this guys voice, he has that classic country sound that takes you back.
"Why does this song sound so familiar?"
"It's the theme song."
This is all gonna end badly
Well, I read the script...
I read the script
Was that part in the script?
@@cassidydelaney4318 Not the one I read...
I don’t care wether he is doing County, Bluegrass or sounds like 70’s Jam Band. Everything this man puts out is awesome.
I have yet to hear Sturgill not kill it. Got into him because he tore it up on SNL. Stayed because every single song is pure and true. Even when he does a song for a movie, it's gold.
Deuter Rauchen Check out Sunday Valley. That’s his old band.
Too true
Deuter Rauchen tore it up big time!
Agree with all these comments. A true artist, with original unique talent.
I am a 40 year old woman diehard to the core metal fan, but holy shit! Sturgill Simpson is literally one of the best musicians I’ve ever heard in my entire life. Absolutely love him!!
🤘🤘

I fell asleep with the TV on woke up about 3 in the morning to this song playing at the end of the movie. I instantly had to get out of bed and find out who what where when and how. This man can sang
Cliff: "You said this was gonna end badly, how did you know?"
Ron: "Well, I read the script"
That film is only shit.. i saw him yesterday night
Cliff: Was that a part of the script?
Ron: Not the one I read
I was gonna type that
@@Lorenzonovantotto I'm watching it now and I dunno whether I have to be grateful or angry with u, lol
Cliff and Ron : sees a UFO
Cliff: “was that in the script?”
Ron: “not the one I read”
The entire movie was one big advertisement for this song
It's the theme song...
this is not going to end well...
Yea a big comment
Dank Santa - I just saw the movie and I wanted to post that, and I'm absolutely serious. The movie had many elements from typical zombie-type movies yet those elements don't come together into anything resembling a complete movie and many of those elements weren't even complete. This song will be remembered more fondly than the movie it was featured in.
@@blazerocker1734 yea it was just a commercial for the song. The film didn't make much sense
It was probably a wild animal. Or several wild animals.
Jason Sanchez only chuckle I managed throughout that film. boring. great track though
Jason Sanchez x3

Jason Sanchez it was way more then that many that stole song's I wrote under Brent Micheal in twentythirteen an twentyfourteen word porn
@@someadler6978 hey guys what's going on here
There is so much truth to these lyrics. So many folks that are alive are dead souls inside. So many of those who have passed that we need back. It makes you think.
No one listening to this during coronavirus lockdown times? I tell you, Adam Driver saw it coming: "I think this is all going to end badly."
😂😂
Hey hey hey don’t speak like that you might really screw us
He read the script
Hey hey I think this is not going to end good
And a year later here we are lol
Stu exhumes a six foot under country sound that was left for dead and props it up with fiddle strings and steel....Brilliant.
Just saw this movie yesterday and fell in love with his voice and this song.
WHY CANT YOU SEE HIM LIVE SINGING THIS SONG ????? WHAT A VOICE...
Jarmusch brought me here. Love you Jim, best director of our times
Incredible. I don't think Sturgill could put out a bad record if he tried. His voice is as iconic as the rest of the country greats. A modern day Merle.
I’m glad someone said it. He’s already on that Merle, Waylon level. He’s that good and he’s made that much of an impact, already. Give it time. People will look at him in the light they should soon enough
It's almost indistinguishable
Never heard of this guy. Seems like a satirical impersonator at best. Cheese.
@@smcneil9584 Sturgill’s the real deal. Give his Metamodern album a spin.
My 13 year old dog died the day before... needed this one
Bro, sorry for your loss. Dogs are special humans, sometimes better than humans.
Sorry for your loss, R.I.P your friend.
Dogs aren't usually phased by death.
Just thinking bout a dog right now, too.
Cheers man.
So sad
He's by far the best pure musician, singer songwriter. Hell just plain badass artist that's come around in awhile. He kills everything he does. Every genre.
“This is gonna end badly”
You keep saying that. How did you know that all along? ;-)
@@phredkid1 I read the script

Sturgill.... Bro, you almost make me forget any other artists exist. Thanks for the great music.
I’m quite confident in my ability to handle myself against the living dead
Zelda you did a very good job.
This gonna end badly
What about, the living.
Seems like a relaxing song to listen ro when your driving about. Just be sure to be ready incase you come across a zombie or 2
I love this type of county I’m glad he is keeping real country music alive
Good to hear your voice again Sturgill! Loving the new song!! I can say that we’ve ALL missed you!
"this is going to end badly..."
Yes it is
" The world is perfec, appreciate the details. "
YESSSSSS Finally new Sturgill! We missed you Sturg!
for real
I didn't miss him.
So hauntingly beautiful. A classic country & western song.
But he never said anything about momma, trains, trucks, prison or getting drunk

It was nice seeing Sturgill dragging his guitar around toward the end. I liked the movie...dont care what other folks think
Thanks paul

Was that Sturgill? "Guitar. Guitar..."
Jim is just the kind of guy who makes good art. Art is subjective and you won't hear the same opinion twice.
But as long as we've got people like Jim, art won't ever die.
absolutely love this new track.. very George Jones style melodies I could imagine George singing this track if he was still with us. :(
Thinking the same thing
Oh HELL yeah
Nah man that’s Whitley
First time I heard of Sturgil it was this song-what a gateway into a wonderful new world!!!!!!
When I think, "things are gonna end badly" I just play this
RETURN OF THE KING.

Hot DMAN that SOUND! Now that's real country!
Like Don Williams
"looks like the dead don't wanna die today"
I miss you💕never forgotten always in my ❤
play this at my funeral
The man, the myth, the legend. I needed this. Country music needs this.
FACTS.....
It's Christmas and I stumble upon this song. It reminds me of my grandfather. We were not able to celebrate Christmas with him. He's sick and have we known what could happened. He died peacefully after Christmas. Can't help but to cry a little.
Cliff: "Really? This is not the time for this!" *throws the CD out the window
But Cliff that was irrational!!
Jim should'a told him about the script!
Sturgill is crushing it with this release. Awesome song!
oh my God I'm so ready
the best country song this year 2019
I must agree. My absolute favorite song "ALL YEAR"
old school tune. Thank you,
Thank you!
🙂🤠🙂🤠
Sturgill has just been on a roll since... well since he started making albums. He's one of those really rare artists who I can't name one bad song they've made.

Me. I didn't find it when it came out,so I had to go back and record the music at the end until now xD
What movie?
Big Dwight Yoakam sound on this track, with his own blend of Sturg and spices.
Glad I'm not the only one who heard it 😂
First time I heard sturgill it was him opening for dwight back before high top mountain came out
I get keith whitley vibes
Waylon Hank and haggard would be proud of you mate. Thank you for keeping old sound alive. The pop music they play today is awful. Old country is the greatest. Stay up Mr Simpson.
Keith Whitley vibe. This guy is so classic and talented
Sturgill really captured and nailed, banged, those country music/county folk songs from the 60s and 70s (I mean generally all do too in this genre). but I kinda really like that huhh, Really catchy and calming. And I like that piano mixed in. I now know on what favorite genre I would like too
Sturgill has a delightful unique voice. One of the best around right now.
Now there just dead hipsters, from Cleveland.
Dead hipsters from Lewes!

Fun fact:
The dead don't die because the living can't stop thinking about them. RIP grandma.
I like that. I agree. Ill be honest. I don't just constantly think about my baby boy. I talk to him all the time. God bless you brother. Your grandmother can definitely see you
I think this song is beast cuz it totally has that old school country vibe...
I come here every day and listen to this beautiful song. thank you Sturgill
So excited to hear something new from Sturgill. He is criminally underrated and easily one of my all time favorite musicians.

I love the slide guitar. Reminds me of Randy Travis' debut album Storms of Life. Which is my favorite album of all time.
I’m real country too not the new stuff
I saw the movie last night. This song was the highlight.
I have to say the dead don't die was one hell of a ride
Sturgill gettin a little o that Dwight Yoakam sound and I love it. Always good to hear the new stuff, Sturgill!
Sounds like Alan Jackson mixed with Dwight here to me. Good stuff.
