Mike and Jay discuss a recent monkey movie, then recount their experiences at a recent Chicago-area sci-fi convention. - Zábava
"You wouldn't cast Anthony Hopkins as a man with alzheimer". That's hilarious, Hopkins just won an Oscar for playing exactly that.
From what I've heard of that film, Father, Hopkins' plays a very unlikeable character, so I wouldn't say what Mike is saying at 6:10 was proved wrong.
@@luke-alex Unlikable? He's scared, confused and don't trust the people around him because of his illness. It hardly makes him unlikeable. Anyway, not trying to prove anybody wrong. I just think it's a hilarious he'd say that a decade prior to Hopkins receiving an Oscar for playing a man with alzheimer.
@@Lukasaasted1 Mike didn't literally say "you wouldn't cast Anthony Hopkins as a man with Alzheimer's", he was saying you wouldn't cast him as the kind of character that Lithgow plays in this movie-and the only real commonality between that character and the one in Father is that they both have Alzheimer's.
And the thing is, I think Hopkins was cast in that role *because* it suits his typecast as a very unpleasant, unsentimental person. Your comment sort of suggests to me that the opposite might be true (that Hopkins is playing _against_ type).
@@luke-alex I would love to party with you man 😂
@@luke-alex imagine trying to “um, actually” someone 8 months after they left a comment simply pointing out a funny coincidence lol
I really wish they would start filming their trips to conventions again.
@@PissbucketRoyale keep in mind, my comment is literally old enough to go to school now
@@supafly345 That is terrifying.
I really wish they'd do much of anything again lol
They've become too popular, sooo...
I don't think stop doing conventions after this slew of appearances
"meet the fan....field the question" nearly did a spit-take with my coffee.
@Jay Y There was like one person for the Q&A
18:55 "whats a convention without Rich Evans?"
Safe?
Child friendly?
Not sexy?
It's funny because over the years, ive grown to like Mike, Rich and Jay so much, i'd much rather meet and chat to them than any of the celebrities that would normally make a guest appearance at a con, yet in this theyre just regular joes interviewing famous people, walking unknown amongst the attendees.
today Picardo would be lining up for a chance to talk with Mike
This episode features the first canonical reference to Star Trek, and Jay brings it up first.
nah, didn't watsis toss a vhs copy of generations over his shoulder by now? i don't know whatevr BAM.
Can you imagine battling Mike in Star trek trivia.
Yes I can cuz I don't need to imagine myself failing *slide whistle*
Yes, yes I can.
No
i would fucking win and that is a challenge
@@TheJulioGulio Did you ever find your dad bro?
That Richard Hatch interview is priceless
How things change. You can bet they have enough fans to fill that room for the Q and A now.
To be fair, they are both associated with horrible atrocities.
J Sully speaking of horrible atrocities...,., i wuz happy 2 se e nicki clyne in dis videom😊😊
Know this is old but that is specifically why they would hate to do it. 80 % of the Q's would be some hack fraud meme bs.
You couldve definitely bet before too. You might not have won anything, but you still could have bet.
I've been watching these episodes for about a year and I think 0:18 is the first time I've ever seen Mike smile
He smiles with the batting of his eyes and the tilt of his head
That's cuz this was recorded in 2011, back when Mike still had hope for humanity
6:14 it's funny because anthony hopkins recently won an oscar for playing a grandpa with alzheimers
If you read ten comments on a YT video and your comment has been made 11 times, don't make the same comment. You're welcome.
damn that ending really caught me off guard, well done
i just now realised the broken grandpa clock behind stoklasa is not a mini guillotine
15:04 is the Robert Picardo interview for all of those coming from the 2019 Gremlins 2 re:view
thanks! nice to find these hidden gems of RLM lore.
Jay is so fucking adorkable.
You do cast Anthony Hopkins in that role, then applaud his masterful performance.
I wish you would do conventions again. These videos are my favourite
19:35 eye contact level over 9000
John Lithgow's face actually horrifies me after he played Trinity in Dexter
rich evans needs his own series going to cons and interviewing nerds, cant wait for the furries episode.
joe goes
"You don't cast Anthony Hopkins as a man with Alzheimer's"
Ummmmm.....
"That didn't age quite so well."
...
Bam!
I tried isolating the audio at the end and played it backwards to see what he was saying. It sounded like "All those who be it, forget the deaths of Jay and Mike" It was too much static to tell for sure.
I thought it said, "All the movies you get with that subject matter."
12:06 Jay's impression of the pitch meeting for the 1960s original was quite convincing
Why's that old guy letting that kld drink beer?
Very nice of David Lynch to shoot and edit the last few seconds
Rich Evans is the best!
I wish he did birthday parties.
19:53 This is kinda what working in retail is like...
"some of the fan that showed up and field the question" XD HAHAHA!
6:11
Cut to 9 years later when Anthony Hopkins portrays a man with dementia and wins an Oscar for it.
Yes, and then you and 85 other people felt the need to comment on it here
Why does Jay look younger now than back then?
Ent water.
Gay cake diet does wonders
Then back then?
He sucks the life out of Mike, that is why he has aged so much.
@@BLY99 you got a laugh outta me, and its plausible xD
Yaaa someone finally mentioned Willow. One of Val Kilmers 3 great roles.
The other two are Spartan and Real Genius
Bam!
I love convention episodes please more please more more please more
Talking about how James Franco is always stoned, and it's on his face at 4:20!!! How did you guys do that? Whether you edited it like that on purpose, or it was just an awesome coincidence, That was amazing!
Seeing Jay complain about people leaving variations of the same old comments on videos, I see where that started. Jesus, we get it Anthony Hopkins won an academy award.
the exact same guy at 19:23 is also in their chicago comic con video where Rich is dressed as George Lucas
Did Mike just predict The Father (2020) at 6:00?
Funny to watch this one now and think “that pose is one of the more normal things Nikki Clyne has done”
"JUST CAST A BUNCH OF MIDGETS!"
18:51 Not sure if it was well known when this video was originally made, but I looked up who she was, and oh boy...
I love me a bit of Lynch in my RLM.
Every time someone does something stupid I hear that Stoklasa musical sting playing in my head.
Dooo doootadoo dooo dooo dooot wwwwwwaaah! Makes life so much more enjoyable.
Is that music from the movie Congo in the background during ROTPOTA review?
I slowed the video down when he destroyed the vase (SPOILER) and I realised the trailer following that in slow motion become something beautiful.
To me it sounds like a movie where everyone has become mentally challenge and they are trying to find a cure, like some strange apocalypse.
2015 : "You don't cast Anthony Hopkins in that role"
2021 : The Father
What's up Mike ?
I love jay and mike
I have no idea how those women were able to compose themselves in the precence of Rich "The Alpha" Evans.
Holy necreply Batman! So I tried to speed up and reverse the last bit of slowed down reverse speech and I couldn't make it out entirely, it sounded like "More viewers you'll get with that subject matter", but its tough to say for sure, possibly it refers to whatever is on the piece of paper Mike is holding in front of his face at 20:34 for a single frame? CHIX? Damn rabbit holes....
Someone please tell me what that paper says
Wanting to see the entire Star Trek trivia please
I like how Jay says at 6:19 Anthony Hopkins doesn't look like an Alzheimer's patient, and cut to 2020 him doing The Father.
What's up with the Monkey Island soundtrack in the background???
LOL. "Where's my brain?..."
r.i.p. richard hatch
I had to pause the video to see if the sound stopped.. apparently you Did put "Sounds of the amazon pan flutes" as background music here, real weird when talking about james franco D:
Some of the fan really enjoyed it no doubt.
Wish you guys would do a review for Westworld, movie or seasons, don't care.
20:34 What's with that ghost Mike holding a paper over his face?
Awwww i wanna make a time machine just to go to that q and a.
RIP Richard Hatch
0:18 Oh my god... that smile
imo franco's best role is Allen Ginsberg in "Howl", never saw 127 hours. liked rotpota enough I guess
That cold open kills
Does anyone else dislike the background piano?
Does someone know the name of the background music? The one that sounds like that it could be from a donkey kong game?
Revisiting this 6:10 after watching "The Father" is kind of hilarious. The director's like, I'm gonna prove those lazy hack frauds wrong. That's the real reason why they cast Mr. Lector.
You guys are the FUCKING BEST!
Rarely a video or movie makes me actually laugh out loud, and you guys do it (almost) every time! I don't know why, but Mike's BAM! "shocking" turn made me fucking puke my boogers out. So fucking hillarious, I keep smiling just thinking about it!
You sir, are a fucking laugh gas sprinkler.
The Professor please don't ever say "puke my boogers" again
Fames Franco in Howl (2010) was pretty good tbqh
13:31 Svengoolie!! Legend of the Midwest!
Lithgow sympathetic?
Sometimes, but there is also "Ricochet", "Cliffhanger" and "Dexter".
***** And "Santa Claus: The Movie", where he played exactly the white balding "PROFITS ARE EVERYTHING" character that could have ended up in ROTPOTA. Damn he was awesome in that role. I have an impression of massive cigars and choking at the mention of "free".
And Blow Out starring John Travolta.
"Raising Cain". Oh, and "Buckaroo Banzai", of course!
Jay looks like Bill Paxton in True Lies here
Jay is such a tiny dude. I love it lol
6:17 best part
BAM!
I think the second thing I saw Robert Picardo in (after Voyager) was Innerspace, and for a few glorious hours I held out hope that he had built an entire career of characters without names. Like if I went to imdb it would just be "The Doctor", "The Cowboy", "The Farmer", "The Scientist", "The Magician"...
RIP Richard Hatch.
13:10 I want that picture!
I'm new. Why are there videos from 2011 uploaded so much later?
This is futile I know, but can anyone tell what's the music/sound playing in the background from 11:20 thereon?
I wondered that too.
I have traveled through time here from 2023. Having just watched The Father mere minutes ago, all I can really say is this...
AT-STs AT-STs AT-STs AT-STs AT-STs AT-STs AT-STs AT-STs AT-STs AT-STs AT-STs !
6:11 "The Father" 2021
looking like Droopy the Dog made John Lithgow even scarier playing the Trinitiy Killer
~ John Lithgow probably got the role because of his previous work in Harry and The Hendersons, and the Manhattan Project. ~
I screen capped the flash image at 20:33 and I still cant figure out what it is, anyone else know?
20:23 holy shit that edit is hilarious
Is the usage of the Congo soundtrack because this is a video about apes?
Is that where the music is from? What is the name of the track?
I miss my wife
I miss her too
Aw especially when she did that thing, to cheer me up.
They look so young
Okay, what the hell was up with that David Lynch Ending??!!
RLM used to actually put effort into Half in the Bag. In fairness I think we get videos more frequently now.
Was that a Zombie Imperial Guardsman!?!!?!?!
Robert Picardo...damn what a cool guy!
how did Jay's hairline get better with age?
The dark side of the force is a pathway to many abilities some would consider unnatural.
I just googled nicki clyne and I wish that the world wasn't shit
speaking of sex perverts...
Who the hell says Anthony Hopkins can't play a sympathetic character? Go watch World's Fastest Indian
they did patterson dirty in this one
I mean, he was still starring in the Twilight movies back when this movie was made.
It's understandable.
"my team won" .......it was just him
6:18 Funny how things work out
Nicki Clyne perched on a table- whaaaaaat?
Is it wrong that I had several sex fantasies about her in that position ?
@@kevinbell9472 That comment will age well
@@q1q2q23 isn't she the one from those sex cult documentaries late last year?
@@peteryocum yep!
The CGI on the last two movies made the apes more real than the first movie I mean they look so life like you would think they were wearing actual suits.
Why are a lot of RLM videos from 2011 re uploaded in 2015?
Used to be on their website only
