  • Sometimes we, motorcycle riders, can struggle a bit with slow speed maneuvers, like U-Turns, or tight turns on intersection. It's especially true for big, heavy motorcycles, like cruisers or tourers. But even if you are a beginner rider - you can easily become confident with slow speed turns pretty fast, and never drop your bike again if you follow this 7 steps to slow speed confidence!

    A little info about me. My name is Andrei Bodrov, originally I'm from Moscow, Russia, and now I live in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Back in Moscow I was a motorcycle instructor and creator of Moto Control Beginner & Advanced motorcycle rider courses, which quickly became the most popular courses in Moscow (well, at least the advanced one😁). My advanced training course makes emphasis on slow speed riding techniques at first (such as good clutch and throttle control, proper riding posture, proper use of vision, etc.), then proceeds to more advanced techniques (such as aggressive braking, trail braking, maximal lean angle). The course incorporates a lot of exercises from DOSAF slow speed riding (similar to police rodeo like motorcycle training in USA), braking and cornering exercises and motogymkhana style riding. And now, since I actively learn English - I decided to post some useful videos for both your and mine practice!😉
    🏍️🏍️🏍️
    Since everyone writes this, it's necessary, I suppose 🤷, so here we go. Disclaimer: Ride at your own risk, you are responsible for your own safety. Me, Andrey Bodrov and my channel, Moto Control disclaim any liability incurred in connection with the use of riding techniques from this channel. Use common sense, wear full protective gear and ride in a safe and predictable manner!

    Greetings from Vienna to the, in your own words, “crappy part of Europe!” What you lack on Motojitsu in subscribers you make up in terms of clarity. Keep it up, man. Love your videos!! I used to ride on street and track when I was younger. Then live and job and things got in the way and I had to stop. 30 years later I am now taking lessons again while I wait for my new bike to be delivered. Can’t wait. With your videos, I now understand some things that I intuitively did right back then, and I also understand why I did some things wrong. Cheers from an old dog learning new tricks!!!

      Greg Widmar (MotoJitsu) is quite overrated and self-absorbed anyway. He has become sort of a douche recently by stretching his grasp beyond motorcycle training and entering ‘life advice’ - never a good idea, especially with his Ex-Marine-Corps know-it-all attitude.
      Also, his ‘books’ are lame and recycled common basic training contenr (if you can call them books, essentially being 40-ish pages of doodles for around 20$ apiece… printed somewhere in low-tier Chinese print sweatshop by glorious ‘Amazon Press’)

    I have an amazing (maybe) idea how to do low speed clutch engaged training on small bikes. As a matter of fact usually you don't need a clutch for low speed maneuverers on smaller bikes, but it's very good skill if you are going to jump on something bigger later. So, my idea is to do clutch control training on 2 gear instead of first. It seems like quite nice simulation, isn't it?

    • @MotoControlEn
      @MotoControlEn  Před 2 lety

      Yes, you can do that, or you can try to go slower. This way you'll also need good clutch control on smaller bike!

    • @wonniethepoop7856
      @wonniethepoop7856 Před 2 lety

      @@MotoControlEn yes I can, but "bike stalling" situation caused by low revs like you've mentioned in this video is not possible. Honestly I didn't know, you can stall the bike by releasing the throttle. I ride the same 150cc bajaj boxer like you did recently and it doesn't stall with throttle off. Even on second gear I have to open it just slightly without stalling.
      Anyway I'm glad my idea of training on 2nd gear isn't mad or stupid, so thank you very much for answer abd for amazing lessons. I'm able to ride mostly because of it.

    I have a question? I’m a semi new rider and I have a Honda goldwing dct… I usually work on slow speeds in rain mode and manual bcs I don’t have a clutch to use the friction zone… my question is what is the average speed for slow speed maneuvering? I’m trying to get more comfortable leaning the motorcycle… so my second question is how do I get more comfortable at counter balancing?

    • @MotoControlEn
      @MotoControlEn  Před rokem +1

      The average speed is probably 5-10mph, it's a bit easier if you go a little faster, especially with DCT😁. About counterbalancing - make sure you can make full-lock turns first, then pay close attention to what you're doing with your head and upper body - turn your head at least 90 degrees into the turn and turn your chest as well, so your shoulders become parallel to the handlebars, on Goldwing it matters, since the handlebars are rather wide. And once you become comfortable with that - you'll probably notice that counterbalancing suddenly became pretty easy!
