No. I don't. I talked to him out in the water a few times. Seemed nice. Definitely knows his way around Sunset.
@@francus7227 don't get me wrong I'm not slamming him too hard, he definitely surfs Sunset a lot he's been living in Hawaii most of his life. It's just kind of got that small man syndrome that spills over

Okay..... That's cool. The Sunset line up is not coffee chat scene. I could hold my own out there. But, "making friends" BEFORE you get "in trouble" out there was my way. I never got myself in trouble. But I was able to make nice with Mike a few times....
This was '87-'91. Best four years of my life.
@@francus7227 you and I might have been in the same line up together. I moved to the North Shore in 1990, and stayed for 10 years. I remember Latronic, and while surfing smallish Backdoor, he was just getting jooked by the local guys and whining about it, "I'm Mike Latronic... It was kind of funny watching him get laughed off. He just seemed to be more of a pest to the local community, but he definitely has his own achievements

I Remember 2 solid 15 ft "Hawaiian" N/NE swells in the mid 70's with perfect straight offshore konas blowing 20 mph. It was insane!!! I think I was 14 and the next swell was a few years later. Pretty sure one swell a photographer climbed up in the tower on land and took some line up shots looking out over the cane fields and it was the 2 page center spread in surfer magazine!! Just lines stacked to the horizon and perfect solid 15 ft!!!! Only saw it do this that big with perfect konas on those two swells in my life. I remember paddling out on my 8 ft lightening bolt single fin pin tail only like 14 years old which was a big deal back then! I got out in the line up, no one used leashes in waves that big back then either!! Looking Down into the peak from the shoulder, Reno Abillera one of the famous surfers back then was just taking these massive drops and then ripping all the way down the line for 300 yards and it was top to bottom perfect spitting tubes!!! Best big waves at this spot I ever surfed!! Pretty sure you know where I'm talking about. I'm just so blessed and grateful that I grew up out there surfing since I was 5 years old and got to enjoy it when it was so nice and no crowds and sugar cane fields everywhere!!! Yeah when swells and conditions like that all come together in Hawaii, it's just magic!!! That's why I love a strong enough straight konas blowing so the Seabreeze never kicks in!! Just straight offshore all day long!!! No ka oi

Thanks for this one, from Kona! Gotta be outer Himalayas … used to live there 60’s … inside & Laniakea were my breaks as a teen. Back then only Flippy Hoffman crazy enough to surf outer in nasty storm surf. Still can’t believe how many jet skiis! But they do save lives.
