As a non-Hawaiian it’s really heart warming to watch this competition. Local legends and heroes from their hometown driving down the street to compete in this event. Super cool.

so cool watching people getting up to watch some big waves being surfed at 6 in the morning the culture and the communites in hawaii is unmatched we all wish we could of been there to experience a historic day. great video!!

Mark, you and the rest of the surfers kept me in front of my Iphone for the entire event, I was cheering for you and in my mind you won the event, going back in the 2nd round and charging those massive swells was crazy.

I thought you deserved the win mate, some of those drops were knifed perfectly I don't think some of the natural footers could have made it, you make it look too easy and I think the judges missed how technical the start of your take offs were.
Hope ya get the win next time round, your the most deserving of a win and especially as the first goofy footer to hopefully do so

Mark easily won the connie in my mind. Although, admittedly, the coverage made following who was actually on a wave at any given time extremely difficult.
The “ok up and riding we have Kel...wait...uh.......we have surfer in red!” Just wasn’t cutting it 😂
But Mark stood out above all else to me. And not 100% sure what JJF did to place 2nd, although again, that was likely due to coverage.
