These days the state was under severe forest fires that is why the delay , even other states were helping with those fires. The truck was parked when the fire started, I only saw that it started releasing fireballs from under the engine, I called 911 to report it, you can see in the video the lack of training of this company for its workers in case of fire, I have been a driver for more than 20 years and in fact no one has ever trained me, this type of fire is very dangerous due to the high temperatures, what should never be done is give the fire oxygen, in the video you can see the consequences, the truck was totally burned.
I was a service manager for commercial laundry and in charge of a fleet of tractor trailers for many years. The guys in the video must have heard me yelling for them to move the other tractors before the fire would spread to them. The guy in the brown clothes should be given the employee of the month award for his work. That guy never gave up. For someone who wasn’t a trained fire fight, he gave it one hell of a try.
That's it???? Lmfao
I was just going to say others should be moving trucks around it while those guys are fighting the fire.
Its easy to criticize when you're not there. The first guy did the best he could with what was available. He worked his heart out. Respect to him.
Hello Marlies......
No one is criticize the first guy. We all realize he is THE HERO ON THIS TEAM.
With you, Marlies, the first guy who started fighting the fire with the extinguishers, fought the flames gallantly. I think he found all the extinguishers available, but the blaze was too much for him. Great effort.
Exactly he tried alot saving. If had others few like him the fire could have been put off at stage 1
Agreed. If someone came with a forklift or loader and broke the hood off the truck, they may have been able to save it. It looks like the fiberglass hood flaring back up continued to feed the fire each time after it was almost under control with the fire extinguishers.
That employee was risking his life when the company should have taken care of it.
Nah, they would fire him. Why didn't he ensure that his truck dsnt spontaneously combust. That's the world we live in.
He's not risking his life , diesel doesn't blow up like in the movies , he's cautiously trying to put it out , and he's got an exit at all times .
@@moultriemanicmechani smoke inhalation is pretty bad
Considering that that truck would be gone in about 20 seconds if left unattended he did really good. Too bad the fire department couldn't have shown up 2 minutes faster, that truck might have been salvageable. In the end the truck was destroyed. But they were able to save ALL the other trucks. This guy and everyone who helped him get a pass in my book.
As a firefighter who has worked both rial and city.. you have no idea if the fire department had just left a prior call and was on the other side of town when tones dropped for working fire, nor do you know if the responding department was a vol dept which could explain response time Ect. Too many unknowns here. But the guys that used helped out did a fantastic job
@@JJDaBossOutdoors I don't think they were bashing FD. They were just saying that its to bad they didn't get there a little sooner
Just a side note this was more than likely a volunteer dept cause the guys were showing up in half gear meaning they prob responded from work or home

It was hazardous for him to make the attempt, if there is Tire burst or engine burst or fuel tank burst he might be the first casualty.

Kudos to the heavy guy he did a brilliant job to see the whole thing doesn't get worse
Congratulations 👏 for the first guy, he bravery tried all he could and in turn saved the other trucks and more damages
He didn't save his lungs though
That chubby hispanic guy a fucking hero, he is the reason that entire fleet of trucks did not burn to the ground. Kept it manageable till his coworkers could help for it good too crazy to drive the other rigs off. Well done sir, you deserve a raise.
My sentiments exactly! The guy deserves a holiday and a pay rise! I hope the company looked after him!!!!
Trophy for all, even the camera man, without the camera man you would never have seen this heroics action of the truck yard, 🚚🛻 , the owner is probably pissed, since he paid good money for an arsonist to help pay off his fleet payment that is in default of payment, and his employees moved all the unpaid assets to a safe place. At my old apartments a guy broke a car window poured gas inside and set it on fire. I heard the boom. It set the car next to it on fire. I first moved my Jeep. While barefoot I used my personal fire extinguishers then about 8 more that were on the walls from the apartments. I was able to put out both cars by myself. A crowd gathered and just watched me. No one helped. When fire department arrived they were shocked that I was able to extinguishe both cars. They said I prevented other cars and the apartments from catching on fire. No one from the apartments said anything to me, the management never said a word to me. Only the fire fighters thanked me. I then washed my feet, put on my boots and left for work.

That was great! That big fella deserves a raise he hustled.
He'll probably get employee of the week and maybe a $5 gift card for a coffee.
@@edwardfitzgerald3877 You are absolutely correct.
This is why fire extinguishers are so critical in the first minute of a fire. At the very least they'll buy you crucial time. In this case, time enough to move the other trucks a safe distance away. I tip my hat to this group. They were brave & never gave up.
The 1st guy deserves a medal of honor 👏🙌 he examplifies the meaning of hero
What a guy to try and do something. He needs a raise! Sadly in todays age, they'll probably fire him for creating a liability by stepping in.

Those employees DEFINITELY went Above and Beyond for their Employer, even though the one truck was lost, they worked their Asses off trying to save it, and at Great Risk to them, then after running out of extinguishers, then Smartly moving all other trucks! Excellent Work Guys! Your Employer Should be Proud of All Of You! 👍
I am shocked to see this and a loss of a truck... I am however... Very proud of the employee for doing his best to contain it before Phoenix Fire Department Engine 34 arrived. Well done... To both the U.S. Food Bank Employee and the Phoenix Fire Department.
My husband is a trucker and this breaks my heart to watch someone lose their truck. Be safe and roll on
Kudos to the initial driver who was hell bent on putting that fire out.. I want him on my team.
Agreed, he put in the effort. That tractor was scrap as soon as that fire started, really hard to put those out when there's fuel involved. Passed an enclosed car transport a while back on a toll road, as I was going by I noticed puffs of smoke coming from the center front of his trailer, told him on the radio, so we both pulled on the shoulder to check things out. I grabbed my extinguisher and he did the same, as we approached the passenger side of his trailer, I noticed he was getting set to open an access door, before I could tell him not to, he did, and the force knocked him about 15 feet into the ditch. He was still trying to use the extinguisher, but that trailer was fully involved, there were 6 cars inside, so I told him to get his tractor out or he'd lose that too, I pulled the pin and popped his lines off and he drove the tractor out, a new KW T-680. By then it was really rolling, he said there were 2 Porsches, a Corvette, a vintage Lincoln, a Challenger Hellcat and a Ford Raptor pickup. The trailer was a skeleton by the time the FD arrived about 10 minutes later.
@@thomaskirk9341 A Blessing that you were there👍👍💜🙏
@@JR-zm2yu At least the driver wasn't hurt and we managed to save his tractor. The cars on the trailer were al fully insured by the trucking company, but it sux to lose your new toy that's being transported to you, but they can be replaced. I found out later the Fire Investigator said the fire originated in a battery box under the trailer that was used to operate the liftgate for loading/unloading the vehicles, apparently a short circuit.

This company owes the employee a bonus.
Very level-headed response from the truck drivers, well done guys.
Totally commendable effort by that first guy, his actions largely prevented the fire taking hold sooner. Great job moving the other trucks and containing the fire to just one truck. I have seen too many videos of cars going up and the fire spreading to other vehicles parked next to it. So good job on them saving the other trucks, thus giving the fire brigade more access to the truck on fire. Great effort by all of them!
Great job guys, keeping it contained until the other trucks are moved away safely and fire department arrives, definitely saving adjacent trucks, you are all Heroes in my opinion.
Dry Chemical extinguishers, don't absorb the heat like water. A valiant effort though.
You got that right!
Wow... That was really impressive- on a few different levels.
1) Workers knew how to use the extinguishers as well as where they would be found in what appeared to be a standard place on all the trucks. Kudos to the trucking company for that.
2) Workers continued to apply agent in a coordinated fashion- A few times I thought for sure they had it but something lingering up top of the hood looked like it kept things lit-
3) When all efforts seemed futile, workers started moving trucks out of the way- PERFECT!
4) By the time the fire side showed up there were no exposures PLUS the fire had been held back from failing the saddle tanks making it a really easy exercise with a little water.
The SINGLE thing I THINK would be a worthwhile investment for a yard like this would be a 125lb dry chem wheeled extinguisher with purple K. It would require a little training on- and purple K isn't cheap... but it's 50% more effective than Monoammonium Phosphate (in those extinguishers) on Class B fires (diesel) and in sufficient quantities would have absolutely made the difference. The guys were committed... they just needed the right product in the right quantity- they did it all right!
I was sort of sitting back scratching my head at what "I" would do in that situation- The fact the guy opened the hood to get a shot at the "seat" of the fire was good... when it didn't work I might have considered putting the hood back down while coordinating fire extinguishers through the spaces where the fire was getting air. With the hood down, you limit the air getting to the fire and continue to slow its progress but even then it would have depended on guys doing exactly what they did with the hood up- and it may not have worked either...
Really, really great job to those guys. If I was a fire chief there I'd be looking really hard at some sort of acknowledgement to this company and dedicated group of workers who put so much effort to safely contain the fire until help arrived.
Such a sensible comment compared to the stupidity here.
Looks like a fuel line ruptured and was pissing fuel out, hard to contain that especially when its diesel.
This is what I call Great Team Effort!!!! Everyone pulled together to get the trucks from burning down. Hats off to these gentlemen. These are the type of folks id like working on my team. You guys are amazing!!!
Every one of those men should receive an award. They used up at least eight fire signatures and then had the forethought to get the other trucks out of the way. They protected company assets that could’ve cost a lot of money had those other trucks burned. Good job
In the beginning, one would think it would be "all hands on deck" to help and try extinguish. But instead this was filmed, while 1 guy tried his best to put out. Smh. Typical human nature in this era..
Exactly right. Always amazes me that there are videos like this. Put the damned phone down and go help.

Forest fire are more important than a single truck on fire.
These guys are clueless on the proper use of a fire extinguisher.
Always good to see someone trying their best to help in situations like this one. The good thing was that no one was injuried as far as I can see and only one truck and a few fire extinguishers were the only thing lost. Great work on getting the other trucks moved away before mass losses could occur.
That big man is a hero
He tried any means to reduce the fire and move the trucks away,he needs a pay rise,if was not that I guess could be more than 3 trucks on fire...
It's great to see some employees care about their employers trucks. Too bad most employers don't care about their employees.
It's not worth the hassle and employers always, always have insurance. Just let it burn. Equipment can always be replaced, human life cannot.
@@michaellim4165 that's kind of what i am saying. If employers really cared for their workers like a real work family use to be, the right thing to do would be save the trucks to save the hassle and insurance drama and in return the employers offered real pensions and care about the employees like they use too. Just 25 years ago or so people had pride to work for a company that cared about employees and pensions and the companies actually cared about emoloyees too. I've been here 20 years and most new guys leave in a couple years because nothing keeps them there. They take the 401k with them and shity insurance and go to the next job. They dont care for the equipment and honestly them company doesn't either. They say it was ruined doing business so pass the cost to the rate payer. .... With that being said, My employer doesn't care about us FTEs as we are called now. Full Time Employees. They try to contract us out and find ways to cut our overtime too. They only care about the stock holder and their bank accounts. So, if this was my employer in this situation, we would also just stand and watch the trucks burn. Its true, they don't even care about that, they only care if we would get hurt saving trucks because then they would have a hospital bill or a death to try to explain away.
@K-Artherton it’s not so much that nobody cares as much as it is there was no way that fire was going to be put out anyways. Once all that plastic ignited it’s game over. The only thing to do is to protective other trucks, at the end of the day, the employee with good intentions probably will not get rewarded at all.
Cheers
Complete agreed with you 🤔👍
Yep. A driver couldn't have said that any better👍
Fire extinguisher training is important
They don't make them like they used to...

With that many trucks they should have there own fire truck
at least long water cable
the first thing to do in this case move other trucks to safety, not the last thing the first thing
After this, all of them need to take a course on "how to use a fire extinguisher to put out a fire. "
It's is not going to matter. A dry chemical extinguisher is not good to put that out. You need a large co2 or water. You have to cool the red hot bits that keep reigniting the flammable materials.
The first guy really cares and did an amazing job. The others did okay. But I am sure the company won't give a crap or compensate you for inhaling the toxic fumes.

Exactly that company should teach the employees how to fight a fire properly.
You are right. There was a chance of savings the truck. But they lacked fire fighting technics.
I see the effort being made, but the flames are in a dangerous level, that it's not worth risking your life for. The truck is replaceable, a human life is not.
But without good result it's some type of waisting time and money
That guy first on the scene needs a pay rise.
What a team player I'd Employ him in a heart beat.

Well done boy's.
Husband burned badly from trying to put out a fire. Died 13 weeks later in trauma burn unit. Call fire dept and let it burn. Try to keep everyone else away. You cannot fight a raging fire. Nor should you try. The company should not allow these employees to risk their lives for something insurance will cover.
They did a outstanding job!!!! They could of ran away but they stayed calm. Moving those tractors (fuel source) contained the fire. Owner of company should give those employees a nice bonus on their paychecks.
Much respect for this guy💪🏾💪🏾
To address two things. The employees with the fire extinguishers were probably as close to the fire as they were able to tolerate without getting burned. The fire hose was a straight stream initially to dissipate as much heat as possible. It's the high heat in the burning material that keeps re-igniting the flames. Remove the heat and oxygen and the fire goes out, removing the fuel source in this case was not an option. All the employees involved should be commended, they risked their safety to move the trucks and deal with the fire to help arrived.
Why did they throw the used extinguishers on the ground and kicked them towards the fire tho? Can they not explode?
@@ronklanzig7496 The only thing I can think of as the extinguishers were used up they were just keeping them out of the way of the path around the truck, and then they started getting tossed farther away, and it may have started impeding access from the driveway for the fire department, and were in the path of the trucks they wanted to move so they decided to move them back into a smaller pile in front of the burning truck. Not like they rehearsed this scenario, and without any real training you're making decisions and flying by the seat of your pants. The fire extinguishers themselves are static pressure tested to several hundred psi. The guys fighting the fire were between the burning truck and the extinguishers, if it was too hot for the extinguishers, those guys wouldn't have been standing there fighting the fire. I was more concerned for the steer tires exploding, and then the fuel tanks as they were much closer to the heat source, than the fire extinguishers. Fire extinguishers rely on valves and rubber seals, the seals would have started leaking due to the heat before the pressure exceeded the strength of the case.
They all worked gallantly to extinguisher the fire.
Cut these guys a LITTLE slack, they're most likely professional truckers, not professional firefighters. Must be nice to know everything.

Exactly. I don't understand why people like to blast on other people trying to put fires out. Most of the time the people typing the comments don't have a single clue about any complications there might be in a situation. Like you said, these are truckers, not firefighters. They made a damn good effort to try and stop the fire, even though often once a truck goes up there's no putting it out until the whole thing has burned up. And when they ran out of extinguishers they saved the rest of the trucks. Kudos to them for actually trying to save the truck, wouldve been easy enough for them to all just stand there and wait for the fire department, but they actually tried to fight the fire. never attempt to fight a fire if you have no idea how to do so. "helping" does not include: letting oxygen into the fire, directing the extinguisher at the top of flames and getting yourself into a risk situation. Sound the alarm, get out, stay out...

Good effort! Every business that is required to have extinguishers should provide training. I ran fire drills at a nursing home, after 5yrs, the owners finally paid for the fire prevention company to train our staff.
At least they slowed it down but man that’s some good work by those guys truly dedicated to there company
Agreed. They moved almost a million dollars in assets out of harms way so only one truck was lost. This minimized the insurance claim which minimized the increase in insurance rates saving the company a lot of money down the road. I'm betting though some manager got yelled at for insufficient fire fighting apparatus. A 100 gallon foam tank on scene might have saved the truck early on. One of those would cost a lot less than that truck which obviously is a total loss.
Hey guys, you fight a fire from THE BASE of the fire.

I love the guy in blue, must be the manager, walking around looking important instead of grabbing fire extinguishers from all the trucks sitting there to keep the fire fighting going. Only a rare leader in every group. Kiddos to the dude hustling
In Canada when a truck catches on fire, highway maintenance doesn't call fire department. They cone around truck and let it burn. Oil and diesel needs to burn out, 42L of oil and 200L of diesel. Putting water on a truck fire makes a bigger environmental mess than letting it burn out.
