And I was personally glad to see the nozzle guy open it up just a bit rather than a straight stream - don't know why more don't do that . . . way better water coverage. Excellent job guys!! Rescue 810 is actually a basic life support so they only have EMTs onboard. Either they were dispatch for manpower purposes or medical reasons or they just happened to be nearby.
If the original report did not specify a parked, unoccupied car then the dispatcher is likely to assume a worst-case scenario such as a crash or vehicle malfunction while moving that started the fire. The car's driver might have been injured in either case.

Really like the configuration of LAFD pumpers. Even so, I’m fond of P&R bumper mounts nozzles for quicker attacks. 🤷♂️
