CRYING But i also love this new story for Mal, he finally gets to be free, seek out adventure he's been looking for, beholden to only himself ... that'll be good for him. I do hope they find their way back to one another though. It was more than just destiny for them, they're family.
If they're following the books - which it looks that way thus far - they end up married ❤
Mal didn't leave Alina because he wanted to break her heart. In fact, he wanted to be able to love by choice. Not because it was his destiny. Nevertheless I think their love was beautiful

These two carry such emotional weight, the Darkling and Alina is no comparison. This is true love, whereas Darklina were simply lust and infatuation and even that has worn off. 😂
The only time the show is good is when Alina & the Darkling are together, Mal is Boring

I don't know what Western people called love, but Mal love for Alina is a true love in my opinion. Alina is the one who who always left him, but Mal always find his way back to her, ready to sacrifice his life for her.
If Mal was not around she would choose Darkling or that some king, she is too easy shaken.
Even when the fold was fixed, she still choose to stay. Which means she can easily let go of Mal.

Im glad the writers/showrunners didnt switch things up because so many people love toxic relationships in tv shows, and force the Darkling and Alina relationship. Alina and Mal are so good together and their connection is well written and portrayed by the actors.
I love how you encompassed their entire story and bond. The video is titled perfectly as what they have between them, is pure devotion and you captured that perfectly from both of them. You can see how much they love one another and are willing to go for each other as the series shows in the second season. I love that you used the angst and the arguments and how they worked through them, communicated with one another. Yes they had destiny together, but you depicted the twinflame connection they have even after the revival. I loved how you structured the video with the quotes being supported by what they're saying about one another. The rise and fall of the music through the video. It's so beautiful. The way I raced to finish the 2nd season so that I could watch this video though!! And I still haven't finished it bc who cares!! This video is gorgeous and I feel like you've given so much voice to Mal here, his doubts and fears, both about his relationship with Alina as well as the woman herself. From what I understand about the books, Mal was an incredibly flat character that got some much needed development from the Netflix show and you've shown exactly why we root for him, or at least his Netflix version lol.
Mal and Alina are definitely meant to be together and we get glimpses of that, but there's never enough time for them. This video is beautiful in that it gives them that time. We see that there's no moment where they fall in love because it's not a sudden realization. They've loved each other all this time. And they WILL find each other again and I eagerly anticipate to see what you make of it when they do.

People shipping Alina and the Darkling wouldn't know true love of it hit them in the face. About selfless, pure love. This is why so many women are in abusive relationships. They tell themselves that they can change him and don't see that type of love is poisonous and destructive. The Darkling wasn't capable of sacrificing himself to save others like Mal did. I truly pity people who are not capable of seeing beyond physical appearances.

I think Kirigan understood her best and knew what was hidden inside her. What consequences of power await her, how she will feel after a while. Mal in season 2 fulfilled his role as the Firebird amplifier. He was there to protect her until she became strong. And Mal had to die. But he was resurrected in a "dark" way, and it was immediately clear that he had become a different person. He no longer had feelings for Alina and the desire to protect her. He calmly sought his way. And says you're meant for something more.
But I would say: for SOMEONE more.
Alina discovers darkness in herself and ... at the end of the last episode, she sees with a very pleased face and a grin how that woman was sawn into pieces from her "cut". Not from the light, but from the darkness. And she has no regrets.
So I think her power will soon take on dark traits and in the end it will turn out that only Kirigan is her "refuge". And if they want to overcome the darkness, then they can only do it together. And both become light.

anyways, here's my mini essay:
because he's a cardboard cut-out character with no personality or motivation in the books other than being with alina and being a tracker in the books.
think of a single thing that he likes, that he wants, that he has, a memory, anything- that isn't in relation to alina or the plot.
he was a tracker because the plot needed him to be a tracker.
oh i guess we haven't seen mal's abs in 5 pages why don't we write that in?
he's hot, he's a tracker, he's got washboard abs, he's a diehard for alina, except that he has no original thoughts or motivations of his own.
he's not really a character so much as a plot device to create artificial and forced drama when he kissed zoya or when he dies or when he and alexsander fight over alina or when he and alina fight so that the darkling can get to her and advance the plot.
he's just there as a plot device, and not even a well-written one that portrays a theme when alina chooses him over the darkling or anyone else or simply being alone. (honestly, it would've worked better if she ended up alone because she becomes like the darkling).
