Moral of the story: DO NOT trust your coworkers! EVER! Especially not in teaching. Teachers are some of the cattiest, nastiest, gossipiest individuals I've ever had the misfortune of working with. This girl probably mentioned to someone how drunk she got over the weekend and that she was hungover, and that teacher ran and squealed like a pig to admin. I'm almost positive the main teacher clique (there's one at every larger school) didn't like her and was looking for any ammunition possible to try and get rid of her.
STOP TELLING YOUR COWORKERS YOUR PERSONAL BUSINESS. THEY ARE NOT YOUR FRIENDS.

YES YES YES. YES, be real about what's yours to keep for yourself. You have to actually think about & enforce who you trust with certain things. Don't be dumb, if you're doing illegal with a homie, make sure 1. you actually trust the MF 2. you got an equitable amount of dirt on them

I've seen this video twice now and it truly hurts my heart. I taught school for 30 years. I've sadly seen this several times. I can tell you the school administration is the one who pushed the police to arrest her. That school wanted her gone for some reason and this happened to help them out. The police even offered her the option of a ride. But the school needed her to be arrested so that it was a bigger deal, therefore losing her job. The school was totally behind ALL of this. I feel very sorry for this lady.

babe, she was an alcoholic. she was drinking on her way to work. she was drinking at school. she was doing those things. the breath test can be inaccurate, but it can't say you're that much above the limit out of nowhere.
listen, i have such empathy for her. addiction is a painful cycle, and the profound shame she's feeling in the video is impossible to miss. i remember when the video was first posted, and i remember thinking: this is humiliating. it shouldn't be public.
and! to say teachers are undervalued in the united states is the understatement of the century. teachers are the backbone of our early development. (have you seen that key & peele sketch "if teachers were treated like athletes"? it always makes me laugh and then feel a little bummed out lol)
but the fact remains that this woman was drinking at school. the school didn't make her drink, they found out a teacher was drunk while working with children. can you imagine the lawsuits that would crash down on that school if any parents found out they let her stay? those parents would lose their minds!
and you can hear the disappointment in that school admin's voice. i guarantee they wanted her to stay. but she was drinking at work. they _factually_ had no choice.

Someone accused her of being drunk on the job -- doesn't she have the right to face that person? Also, they never did mirandize her -- told her she was under arrest and let her keep talking. And yes, now this is all over the internet. Also, I hated that the principal had a resignation letter drafted for her to sign -- in that moment of distress when she certainly wasn't thinking clearly, regardless of how much alcohol she'd had.

They don't need to mirandize her in the fashion you're assuming since she blew a .06 (which yes is lower than .08, but the other officer explains why its still 'illegal' in this context). It's akin to an officer not needing to mirandize someone when he witnesses a crime having taken place. If an officer witnesses a hold up at a bank, he doesn't need to mirandize after neutralizing the threat and placing the defendant in custody.
Unfortunately, we don't really teach our citizens their rights and how to handle themselves in these situations. If anyone thinks Miranda rights are going to be spouted this soon (ala a Law and Order scene) we need to stress differentiating reality from pop culture tropes.

It happens all the time, but the school districts cover it up. They don’t want ANY bad publicity and will often do whatever it takes to stay out of the news. One of my local high schools had 4 staff members in 4 years “resign, retire, or transfer” because of inappropriate misconduct or inappropriate sexual misconduct with a student. 1 principal, 2 teachers, and 1 custodian. Only one of the teachers was officially fired and that’s only because the police were notified first, which is actually supposed to be the protocol for the district, but the district tries to avoid involving the authorities if possible.
The principal was stalking a former student that he had a relationship with when she was a student. He “resigned” due to health issues. He was only in his 40’s😂.
The custodian was sending explicit messages to a student on social media. He “retired.”
One teacher had pictures in her desk of her and a bunch of the football players hanging out outside of school. She “transferred” to another school.
Another teacher was sexting a student on snapchat. Her friend reported it to her parents, who then called the police. The teacher was charged with sodomy of a minor and statutory rape. He’s the only one who was officially fired.
This is just ONE of the three high schools in the district. I’m sure similar issues have occurred all over this school district, but they were swept under the rug.

Most people don't have any idea what teachers have to go thru on a daily basis, and the level of stress that they are under. I don't care how bad someone thinks they were in highschool, they are absolutely NOTHING like school kids are nowadays. Honestly this is pretty disgusting to me how they did this woman. I agree that there was no utility whatsoever in this arrest, and the whole ordeal served no real purpose whatsoever, and didn't at all need to happen that way. The only purpose it really served was to shame and inconvenience this woman. Chances are that she didn't even need to pay a bond get out, that she was released on her own recognizance after being booked in. So they are basically just walking her out of the school in handcuffs, and taking her to the station to have her picture and fingerprints taken, and then let her go with a citation and court date. It's absolutely ridiculous and completely unnecessary to do this woman like this.

Hi, long time viewer, first time commenter. Not sure if anyone else has pointed this out, but her failure of the horizontal gaze nystagmus test could’ve been caused by Xanax, which she has a legal prescription for. Additionally, the fact that the officer estimated a margin of error for his PBT of .06 (he estimated that her BAC was closer to .12 when his PBT read .066) shows that he has no idea how to properly calibrate his device, and it likely hasn’t been properly calibrated in months. These two facts, plus her sober seeming demeanour, make me think that she may not actually have drank at all since the prior night (though she may have drank more than she let on the previous night).

While it may not feel like Xanax effects your vision, it can still cause horizontal gaze nystagmus due to it’s similar mechanism of action to alcohol.
Benzodiazepines and alcohol are both GABAergic CNS depressants that cause similar involuntary physiological responses (including horizontal gaze nystagmus) due to their similar agonism towards GABA receptors. Other GABAergic CNS depressants such as barbiturates can cause horizontal gaze nystagmus for the same reason.

teaching is a devalued profession in Oklahoma, if they want things like this to stop happening (second viral drunk teacher video of the year less than a month into the school year) it will take more than public humiliations of those dealing with addiction.
"From 2001-2018, Oklahoma’s enrollment in university education programs dropped by 80%. That decline caused Oklahoma City University to phase out its early childhood and elementary teacher preparation programs altogether."

I’m a pool manager for a swimming school in England, I’ve had two of my teachers turn up to work on a Saturday morning with signs of intoxication. The first teacher had just turned 18 (the legal drinking age over here) and was still kind of drunk when they arrived, so I told them to stay in the pool office until they could get picked up and taken home, we spoke the following day and I told them that they have had a warning and that if it happened again I would have to terminate them but they were a kid that didn’t really know about alcohol and it’s effects so I kept the situation off the record and just docked their pay for that day. The other time was on a Tuesday around midday, the teacher had gone off site to have a cigarette and when they came back they barely made it into the building without falling over themselves, they stank of booze and when they were pulling their teachers ID out of their bag and a half empty bottle of vodka fell out onto the floor in front of the students, at that point all I could do was get them off grounds and home with a taxi and terminate that teacher. I didn’t involve police in these situations because it would have been more distressing to the kids to have police jumping on their teacher. We only ever have police on grounds if they are doing a talk to the students or if the situation is so severe that the students are at immediate threat without the police being called

I just have to say I agree with so many of these comments about the other administrators being pretty nasty. You could just feel their angst towards her and how badly they just wanted her to get arrested regardless of any details or of her wellbeing. They're just those people who feel like they're the judge, jury, and executioner.

I agre with you except for one point. No one created this scenario. The other teachers at the school obviously capitalized on the opportunity, but no one forced booze down her throat. This teacher put herself in this situation. That said, the way this was handled was just horrible. As embarrassing as it was, the way the cops handled this basically gave her a get out of jail free card. Any lawyer worth his salt will get this thrown out due to the multiple instances of misconduct we all witnessed here. No miranda warning, making her disclose medical information in front of uninvolved parties, taking her to jail essentially at the request of school staff…just absolutely unprofessional and very obviously done to embarrass her and punish her for her actions, which is absolutely not the cop’s job.

My cousin was arrested for multiple counts of murder after a house party he was at turned into a shootout. He had nothing to do with it, just wrong place and wrong time. Fled the house party once shots started going off and got stopped leaving by cops coming in, and he just happened to be wearing the same color shirt that someone reported one of the shooters wearing. So he got arrested. Woke up the next morning to a bunch of calls and texts, looked up the news article about it and they were reporting that the police said my cousin was in a gang and it was a gang shootout. First off my cousin isn’t in a gang and the second biggest thing was the gang they claimed he was in straight up doesn’t exist. Like it was entirely a made up name. The funny thing too is my cousin is from the projects there’s real gangs where he’s from, but instead they claimed he was from some 1950’s sounding hoodlum gang. I was horrified, I figured if they are already making stuff up to build a case against my cousin then he’s done for. Well thankfully they dropped the charges a few days after, because he didn’t do anything besides wear a shirt at the wrong time. Crazy to see how the police and media can lie on people and most just take them at face value.

As the daughter of a teacher I can promise you that it was one of those 3 staff members stood behind her who "grassed" her UP. Bullying is RIFE within the teaching profession to the point where at least in this country (UK) most of the best teachers are either dead (some by suicide) or moved on from the profession a looooooooong time ago. It's video's like this that prevent me from following in my late mothers footsteps to become a teacher and completing my PGCE. Teacher's do not get paid enough for this!!! Her colleagues where supposed to have her back are teachers not human also? Have people forgotten how hard it was during the virus? If I am blessed with children I will home school all of mine myself and perhaps its time that people took responsibility for their children's learning because this is not it. This school if they truly cared about the children's welfare they would have handled this in house, all her colleagues wanted was to humiliate and embarrass this woman like high performing alcoholic's don't exist. As for the police as black woman on this planet they are just doing what they always do. Thank you Bruce for teaching people about their rights because this could NEVER be me. This is a case of a nosy school employee who loves to gossip about what she THINKS everyone else is doing and now she will go brag she had this poor woman arrested! I pray this gets thrown out immediately when they see she was never mirandized, she had an illegal search of her things, the arrest knowing her child was a 3rd grader there was for sure overkill and unnecessary. She was probably a good teacher too that the kids liked. That can be a reason for resentment from other teachers. I was a substitute teacher for a year in Florida and the kids liked when I was called to sub. The other teachers were envious of that and one of them convinced a kid to say I had inappropriately touched them on the PE field. A social services lady was called to interview me and I just laughed at her when she asked me what happened. I had no idea what she was talking about. Luckily I had a friend who was a regular teacher on the staff outside with me who knew it was BS because she saw every minute of interaction I had with the kids that day. She told that lady straight out the kid lied. I didn't sub much after that. By my own choice.
