if you have been living in one of the east african countries, i think you will come to know that there is no such thing called east african federation. there is only an international organization called east african community or EAC which was formed in 1970's by the 3 countries of kenya, uganda and tanzania but it collapsed in 1977 and then it was restored back in the 2000's, the organization's main aim is to solve economic problems , trade policies, solve border crises and other welfare issues surrounding east african countries, it performs the same function just like the European union but there was no such thing as a unification of east african countries to become one country no never it has never happened, so coming back to the story that Rwanda, Tanzania, kenya, uganda will disappear and become east african country no thats a complete wrong story.

Kenyans themselves can't see eye to eye so I don't see how 5 East African countries will. In fact if you go to northern Kenya the people ask you ''How is Kenya?''. Each nomadic ethnic group there sees itself as a nation unto itself. In fact even those living in urban areas see themselves by tribe first and nation second. With the exception off the Maasai and a few hunter gatherer groups Tanzanians see themselves as nation first and tribe either second or of equal status thanks in no small measure to Julius Nyerere. Then again it helps that the vast majority of people there are of Bantu stock. Kenya is far more ethnically diverse. Then there are the Dinka and Nuer peoples (among others) in SS who don't see eye to eye.

When will *all* African nations disappear into the one huge African Union? I am convinced Africa needs to see the AU becoming more and more like the EU every year. The unification process has taken a step forward with 44 countries signing AFCTA, the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). Considering that the EU started with 6 countries in the European Coal and Steel Community, this is a giant leap forward for Africa. Europe has internal trade worth 70% of their trade, and Asia 51%. Africa only trades 17% within the continent. Some call it a ‘shaky start’, but this is the beginning of a very long journey. As the 44 signatory countries begin to prosper from trade and build better rail and transport connections, the economic and political pressure for neighbouring countries to also sign on will become unstoppable. It will take a while, but I’m sure it is achievable. Africa the COUNTRY would be amazing. It would develop integrated continental infrastructure projects, like continent wide power grids and fast rail and highways and national park systems and water management systems. It would eventually have a strong Federal Police Force. Not being from one side of the local tribal or ethnic or religious conflict, the outside forces would be more objective, and more independently administer fairer judgements. They would be better be able to objectively and finally put an end to local conflicts.
Right now the African continent only has 1.2 billion people, coming in behind China and India. Africa can negotiate better trade with the outside world as one block rather than a tax-break 'race to the bottom' that makes all states poorer and beholden to overseas interests. But by 2100 they will have 4.4 BILLION people, or 40% of the population on earth at that time! A United Federal Africa, using all it's resources for the good of AFRICA the SUPERPOWER, would make it the world's preeminent superpower!
