That's something we can actively do besides supportive comments. Those types see any kind of kindness as weakness I'm guessing, when the opposite is true.
I want to add to this. Jamie, shows like The soup have a wild amount of people all working different aspects of the show. It’s impressive as hell you were able to put together The Brew at such quality with your team. It was funny as hell and I love it but totally understand your burnout. We love you girl! You don't have to be a genius to instantly realize after watching some of your videos that most of your formats take way more prep and editing than the norm. They are an explosion of montages, clips, and acts and so elaborate. Every video is a piece of art. Don't think we don't notice and appreciate this

Whenever I notice a creator isn't as active I just rewatch old videos. It lets them know we're still here and still enjoying their content even if they aren't posting every week or SEVERAL times a week. If you like a creator the best thing you can do is treat them like a real person.

This is a great point! It shows love to the creator, entertains us, and also helps their channel through revenue (if the copyright goblins haven't gotten to it) and keeping the creator relevant in the algorithms. Definitely binge older content when you crave some Jaime vids!
Great suggestion!! I do this all the time with Jaime's videos, when I'm working I'll go to her video playlists & just hit random in one. I also make sure I've hit like on all her videos as well when I'm rewatching.
As someone who was sobbing in her bed with two toddlers sobbing on top of her in a dogpile not two hours ago, I appreciate your vulnerability so much. It made me feel much less alone tonight.

It's crazy to me how much harder the pressure is on independent creators. Major Networks don't expect this much content from the average sitcom.
Not to mention the way it intertwines with and effects the creator's personal life. Fans of major network shows don't expect access to the creator's personal life.

The title should have been "I am doing well" because this level of honesty, self-awareness, and realism it's rare and priceless, and will be something you can build on as you make a healthier schedule for yourself.

Jamie, this hurts my heart cause you are so hard on yourself. If me and my boyfriend (I can only speak for us and we are such huge fans!) if we only saw you once a month/once every three months/once a year we’d be so happy.
Take some pressure off yourself my friend, you are only one person and it sounds like a mountain of pressure on you. Which as a perfectionist, probably feels like that’s just how it should be, but it shouldn’t and that’s hard to be okay with. At least that’s how I feel/felt.
Don’t worry that you have lots of different things going and you feel you can’t ‘finish’ or maintain them, you know what my mom would say - Hey you still started them! That’s a huge deal! You had the creativity in you to create all these things, that’s amazing!!
I dunno if I wanna see you or any other creator daily, I have a list of everyone I watch weekly and I couldn’t keep up with daily people that’s too much.
Also the ‘I wanna be ugly for a day…’ yep I hear that! 🙌 I can’t relax enough to just let myself be!
My chronic illness holds me back and it’s a daily struggle to find acceptance that my content isn’t what it was, especially because I’m a perfectionist it’s so so hard to know that I can’t do/be what I was. You will find a balance, and as the perfectionist you are, that feels hard.
I put that song from Encanto ‘Surface pressure’ on, that’s MY song, I connect with every word and it takes the pressure of me and reminds me to stop. I hope it helps you too, then I listen to ‘what else can I do’ to get creative again.

1. I’m sorry this is so overwhelming and complicated. You explained the situation very clearly. These seem like tough situations without clear solutions.
2. 100% agree about not changing your style by “editing less.” At the end of the day, you’re making content you’re proud of.

Also: While something may be going on with you, society at large is sicker than when you began. The increased negativity in comments IS NOT a reflection of you, or your content.
I draw comics, and for years and years the entire industry of making web-comics was to do a strip a day and constantly churn them out. Good, bad, indifferent, didn't matter, it was just important to create something every single day. At some point, the business model changed and the creators realized it was more important to create quality comics less often than it was to make garbage every day for the sake of posting. I noticed a lot of creators talking about how much better their mental and physical health was, less burnout, and more quality of their product.
It is EXACTLY what all other online creative industries need to get on board with. The idea of making constant content and not expecting people to burn out is insanity.
Deadset! Would I pay a hundred doll hairs to see a 90 minute concert by my favourite band? Fucking oath I would! Would my CZcams membership cost be worth a single 45 minute video twice a year? Absolutely. It really sucks that people can be anonymous on the internet and spew their hateful thoughts at people who are, excuse me, giving us high quality content for free 🫠 I want to bop some sense into all of them bloody cowards.

I've lost my husband in March. I've been in a spiral and i found your channel, i've watched everything of yours. You've been such a bright light in my life. I love your content so much. Your movie reviews help me forget the pain and struggle I'm going through. Thank you for everything you do. I come here for the QUALITY of your videos, NOT the QUANTITY. I know my one little comment isn't going to change how you feel overall, but I hope you know that there are those of us who know that the work you and your team puts in consists of long hours and unending editing! Many think it is as easy as recording, saving, and uploading, but that's the bare bones. And your editing is BRILLIANT, whether you do it yourself or you've inspired your team to do it.... you and your team are absolutely amazing. I never understood the opinion that youtubers have to do a certain amount of content to be a "real youtuber." Nonsense!! Agreed! I was especially shocked when she said people were upset that she has editors. That makes no sense to me because if they are demanding more content why would her having a team be a bad thing. If anything they should be happy that she has help because that improves the content and likely pushes content out faster.
I'm honestly fine waiting longer periods between uploads, I'd rather her rest and take care of herself than feel the need to keep posting and posting. I really hope she is able to take some sort of break soon.
Hopefully all the people sending her so much hate fade into the background and she will only see positive comments going forward, sadly I know that is probably not realistic but I will still hope it happens.

I just lost my job that I've had for the past 8 years. I would give ANYTHING to never have to work a job like that again. I wish I could make videos for a living, but I can't think of 1 idea that I think other people would enjoy so I am blown away by people such as yourself who do it consistently. You are such a talent and I wish you all the best!
Jaime: I’ve been on CZcams for about 13 years. I understand how hard it is, but I need you to hear me: you put out a LOT of content, faster than any other creator I watch. So when you say “I can’t do it fast enough”, that breaks my heart. Please don’t drown in this pressure, because as CZcamsr to CZcamsr, you do amazingly. Some of the best creators out there, my favorites, don’t post for months (Drew Gooden comes to mind, HBomberguy, etc), and they still find success. Sometimes I post one video a month, and yeah, obviously I get less hits, but it’s not enough to drag my channel down. I do understand having a block; I find the copyright claim issue to hinder my creativity, it’s SO deflating. Every video of mine gets clocked and it drains me every time. I appeal every time and I’ve never not won, so that’s become a part of my routine now. It sucks, I hate it, it gives me anxiety every time. In terms of comments: don’t be afraid to blacklist certain words. The comment section should be a welcoming place for viewers, so if you need to moderate it like that, do it. Most of the time, when I feel the way you’re describing, it means I need to recharge, especially if I am blocked. Sometimes my brain is just overstimulated to the point where I feel like I need to do everything, so I do nothing because it’s compounding. I think your idea of taking a day off, a REAL day off, it great. Remember: willpower is overrated, you gotta FORCE IT. Force yourself to take a day, stay in bed, get some comfort food, and watch dumb movies. It will help if you commit to it and not guilt yourself into working (something I am a pro at these days.) Reach out if you ever need anything or just want to talk shop.

I'm sorry there is so much invisible pressure that we viewers don't/can't see/empathize with. Just wanted to say that I was on another form of the medicine known as Ozempic and WOW it messed me up big time. I think it combines with anti-depressants/anxiety meds in very dark and evil ways. I'm so glad you realized what was happening and got away from it. Take your time sorting things out and trying something different! I wish you the best!

Yes! I don’t understand why people would be upset. I’ve noticed that confident people are the ones with the most hate. Horrible people writhe when others are comfortable with themselves and have a supportive family to rely on which is why they want to bring you down. The scary thing is that they don’t KNOW they want that but that’s their main goal. Please take care of yourself ❤ and please know your real fans and followers love your content because we see us in you (but funnier lol). We’re the geeky girls who would quote movies and quotes when we were younger while everyone looked as us like we were weird and MADE SURE we knew it. I know that you have expectations for yourself that you have to meet due to your responsibilities to the people who work for you and the treadmill you are on. I am not a social media person but I understand the pressure to synergize and maintain your momentum across multiple platforms, but you should completely disregard sassy comments about "where you've been" or how long it takes you to post. I know it's easier said than done, but you have real action items on your to-do list and catering to inconsiderate viewers who expect you to perform like a content machine should not be on that list.

I understand that. But the set back will be temporary and the benefits (renewed creativity, vitality, energy, improved perspective, increased stamina) will be ten fold and far outweigh the temporary affects of taking a break.
@@VanessaKittredge it's just a massive risk for creators to take especially when they depend on it for a living, even more when they have staff that depend on them. They can't just close everything down for themselves and their staff.

Your content is good enough to wait for, in a way it is just that much sweeter when I haven’t seen a video from you in a while and then a notification pops up that Jaime French put out a new video and it makes my month! You’re one of the hardest working content creators in the game and I think what some folks don’t understand is the you presented on your channel is a brand, it isn’t just you riffing and putting out the first take of whatever you said while watching stuff, that’s a whole other genre of content, and if you feel like you can’t produce content that is in line with the brand you are comfortable putting out into the world then it needs to be reworked. For me it's like, I care, obviously if I subscribe to you that means I like you and want more content from you? But I've followed so many people online over the past 20 years who upload basically never - one person I follow updates their comic once every *five years* at this point??? - that someone uploading a new video every few months it's just like... "Oh so you're like every other person I follow." At this point I'm more wowed if someone is uploading frequently, people uploading basically on occasion is just normal to me now.
And I mean regardless I'm not like "WHY AREN'T YOU UPLOADING THAT FREQUENTLY ANYMORE?!" on people's comments sections. It's not going to make them upload more frequently no matter how much people complain.

It's so hard to put into words how her channel have helped a lot of us because they are just CZcams videos. I sincerely hope you are doing better. I remember sometimes laughing at her humor would make me realize I hadn't laughed in days. I routinely watch her video on The Happening because it's almost comforting now.
This is so meaningful to hear. I’m also a creator and don’t make anywhere NEAR the amount of content you do. But I am a mom and my free time is literally so scarce. I had the most frustrating conversation with my dad yesterday who couldn’t understand why I “can’t just kick it up a notch” or “get more help from my husband” (who also works full time). It’s just not feasible to churn out hours of content and all the social posts in the hours before my kids wakes up and after she goes to bed. It’s nuts. I love my work and I hope to be at a level where I can pay to delegate some tasks but in the meantime, it is so much harder than folks realize. I just want to say that I only recently started watching your videos both on FB and here and I really enjoy them. You stand out as different to me-I love your movie reviews and you are very funny and have a great personality. It’s okay to be in a creative or mental slump, I’ve been there too-you will come out of it. I related to every word in this. Thank you for your vulnerability. And know you are so not alone. There is NOTHING wrong with you for being unable to keep up with the relentless pace being a content creator demands. I think the biggest disconnect that a lot of us who create content face, is we are creative. And creativity is a fickle thing. It doesn’t sit around all day, but visits randomly instead. And when it’s here it’s awesome, and really cool videos are created. But the reality of content creation means we also have to stick to crazy production schedules to have any success. And when we can’t keep up because creativity hasn’t shown up, instead of being able to wait it out, we blame ourselves for not having enough “grit” to capture this impossibly fleeting thing. So attempts are made, and mental health spirals because “why can’t I just do this” thoughts show up. Which means you get behind. And makes you stressed. Which certainly doesn’t help creativity show up. No advice here. Just hope you know it’s not you failing to keep up. It’s the system demanding art be mass produced at an rate that is unsustainable and joy sucking. You are doing a great job. And we are lucky to have whatever you give us! Thanks for being you on a sometimes hostile and toxic platform. I hope you feel the overwhelming goodness of the comments today, and can ignore the haters!

I don't usually leave comments, but this is a very important video for any content creator, and even viewers who may not realize how much work goes into every production. You're amazing, and never feel like you have to apologize or explain for the time intensiveness of your creative process, or for utilizing multiple platforms (which is so great for any content creator looking to maximize growth and revenue). There's only ONE of you, and we all just want you to be happy, healthy and kind to yourself. Writer's block happens to us all, and throughout the ebbs and flows, you continue to rise and make so many people happy watching your content.
With regard to negative comments, I know they're difficult to see; and even as hard as you might try to "not care" or let it roll off your back, it is hurtful to hear such horrible things from people who don't know you or how hard you work. Just try to remember that when internet bullies leave these kinds of scathing, disrespectful and downright mean remarks, it's often an indicator that that person is unhappy with their own situation and they're simply misdirecting their own discontent, sadness or anger at someone else. Hopefully all of the good comments outshine the rest, and reinforce the fact that you're one of the most talented creators on the platform who brings so many of us laughter and enjoyment.
I also wanted to share my own experience stemming back to 2011, before we had things like body positivity movements, and I was starting out as a gaming content creator in a space not only dominated by men, but a space where being both female and overweight was just an open invite for extremely cruel comments. I can absolutely appreciate how hard it is to struggle with your own health/weight/body image while putting yourself out there as a creator, and I think you should give yourself credit for having the fortitude and strength it takes to press on through the negativity and scrutiny of others.

Something on the algorithm worked yesterday because I JUST found you, you are so absolutely my sense of humor so I dont know why it took so long. I'll take rhe enjoyment I can get while hoping uou are doing well.
I belive that all these plattforms that are profiting out of the creators have a moral responsability to fix/prevent/ban hateful comments. It is ridiculous that they are still allowing this type of abusive behavior.
No because then they’ll still exist and we just won’t know who they are which only puts the disadvantage on the hood ppl. Can’t tell someone to ignore them either but ppl like you and me are supposed to uplift regardless of the negativity. That’s called strength and value/meaning becomes empty without it.

The problem is “People”. People are always going to be like this. They will always find a way. If these platforms can control all “hateful comments”, they can and will be the ones who deem what a “hateful comment” is. And eventually, the controls will be overbearing and overwhelming.. more than they are already. Why would anyone want to be involved, interact, or even create when the amount of control literally takes away from the entire experience? Again, more control only leads to more problems. I’m not saying that the people who are doing this are right or justified in any way and I’m definitely not saying creators should have to experience these types of disgusting behaviors.. but unfortunately, this is how life goes. The best thing a creator can do is exactly what Jamie is doing.. take breaks to just rest and work on mental health and their value as a person in general. If trolling other people on the internet makes these selfish, insecure people feel better about their pathetic lives, then just ignore them. Engaging only gives them satisfaction. Having said that, I can completely understand how the constant trolling would become exhausting. Control will not solve anything though. Healing heals all. And we as humans will heal repeatedly if we allow ourselves to do it. The trolls are the ones who definitely NEED that kind of healing….
You can't ban every not so nice comment, freedom of speech. It comes with the territory of being in the Public eye. You can't just expect nice comments constantly that is irrational, and delusional. And thinking only happy nice comments are allowed is irrational and delusional as well. Obviously we aren't talking about comments where people are threatening someone or promoting violence etc.
Last year I left an abusive partner I had been with for five years. I needed to laugh to keep from going crazy. It was the hardest year of my life separating myself from that control and trauma. You (and Impractical Jokers too honestly) kept me sane and became a golden spot in my day.

Hi Jamie 😍! As a fan from the "meekup" days and as a therapist I say this: You owe yourself SO much compassion and kindness. You have done amazing things with your career, you are extremely special and the demand for more of YOU exemplifies that. When you take care of yourself and your needs, you will have more to give. The fatigue and burn-out is your bodies' way of saying "take better care of me!". You strike me as a highly sensitive and empathic person. People like that (us) need more support, recovery time, and down time. You are a deeply creative person with so many gifts and strengths. Give yourself some credit for what you have created from here. The demands from the social networks and algorythims don't work with your energy and that is not your fault! It is so clear you are doing your best to keep up with something that meets your gifts but doesn't match your rhythm in life.
