I had to take about 10 takes on the ballistic gel slo-mo. Initially the block is engulfed in powder flash. Next, what appears to be a pressure wave drills to the full length. Finally the shot enters the block, rolls it back on itself like a candy bar wrapper, completely disintegrating the core. The big finally is watching the block flailing about before doing a double backflip off the table.
I mean, it surprised me that he shot THIS ammo like that, if there's a load I would trust not to explode it would be rat shot, it usually has very low pressure and doesn't even cycle semiautos, though I'd like to see if this one can cycle a barret.

That slap round would have blown apart a Barrett! More than likely the Barrett, the Semi-Auto version would have contained the explosion slightly better being there is way more metal construction, but the Barrett bolt action .50BMG would have come apart just as the RN 50 aside from the breach lock part blowing into Scotts orbital bone. That wouldn't have happened, but all the other injuries would likely still occur in some form or fashion. The RN 50 is built very tough!

This would appear to be the absolute embodiment of why bird shot sucks at stopping human sized targets. Amazingly huge energy dump, impressive damage, but lacking penetration still. I think this is one of Scott's coolest videos yet.
Wow that accident was beyond traumatic, I hope one day Scott can get back up on the bike and shoot a 50 BMG with no strings attached. I do however prefer that he leaves the exotic ammo on the sled.

You can only go that low with the load in a given cartridge. The large volume of the .50BMG needs to be filled, 5 grains of powder are far too less. I just try to think about a use case for that ammo...

This was the first video for me from this channel. I was wondering why he was using a string to pull the trigger and then I read that he had a horrible incident a while back with a 50 bmg. For those who also might not have knownâŠ. I looked it up online and this man is not only lucky to be alive, he is an absolute alpha stud of a man to have survived what happened to him. A 50 bmg that was sent to him to use was possibly loaded: âtoo hotâ and caused massive damage that caused parts to fly into his face, neck, and chest. He had a hole in his jugular that he plugged with his own thumb while his father drove him to the hospital. Doctors said if he hadnât done that with his thumb to plug the hole and slow the release of blood from his body, he wouldnât have survived.
The fireball that comes out of that from RAT SHOT is really surprising. This may be the first time in my life I thought a particular round was 'over powered' in real life.

One of the limitations of .50BMG is that you get limited energy transfer to the target. The bullet passes through the target, barely notices and just keeps on going. This ammo seems to have solved the energy transfer issue.
What I've learned from this video, is that .50 BMG Rat Shot is the best home-defense ammo, it'll definitely stop a threat with no over penetration! Win-Win!

One of the limitations of .50BMG is that you get limited energy transfer to the target. The bullet passes through the target, barely notices and just keeps on going.
This ammo seems to have solved the energy transfer issue.

What I've learned from this video, is that .50 BMG Rat Shot is the best home-defense ammo, it'll definitely stop a threat with no over penetration! Win-Win!
