Most Bruins get away with stuff the Leafs never would. Same with Florida and TB. Although the penalties called against the Leafs were legit, those same are rarely called on the opposition because "that's playoff hockey!?!?" Sure, unless you're the Leafs
The Bruins and Panthers have always been shielded from proper officiating since Colin Campbell was the head of Player Safety while his son played for both clubs and it seems to still be an issue. The Leafs need to play knowing the way the game will likely be called and just go out there with their best effort to win and make it happen. GO LEAFSSSS!!!!
@dsuiteify Agreed, but how do you do that when it's already rigged against you? They, sometimes, call the softest penalties while allowing the other team to get away with major ones. It's, basically, impossible to be victorious when the odds are strongly stacked against you. Also, from my understanding, the current person in charge of DoPS is a Leafs hater, for whatever reason. On top of that, we all know Bettman has it rigged for an American team to win, so why even try?

I doubt Bettman will allow any of the 4 to make the finals. The only Canadian teams that make the finals are ones that have ZERO shot at winning, like the Habs, most recently. It would be bad for the (American) business to have a Canadian team win, although I'd love to see 2 in the finals someday, but won't be while Bettman is still around

love Keefes answer on Domi. I also love that they're not buying into the stupid media narrative that the reason they lost was too much focus on intensity and physicality. No they lost because they couldn't make a pass and the officiating was one sided. They need to play with calm confidence with the puck which they can do and they need to play with intensity and physicality too they're capable of both they only did one of those in game 1 but I'm optimistic this is a better team than the results of game 1.

Unfortunately that doesn't mean we know and understand the game because most of the fans dont.
I replied to a comment a fan made analysing game one loss. As i read it I wondered what game he watched as none of what he said made any sence.
In my reply i suggested that what he said didn't make sence and that he may not have a good understanding of the game.
I got an immediate reply suggesting that I " have no idea who I am talikg and that he played house league hockey for 10 years" and ended his reply.
I don't normally reply to those types of statements as i don't normally talk about my hockey back ground but I thought i would make an exception.
My reply read: Wow thats impressive but the fact is that you don't know who you're talking to!!! As a kid i played 2 years of house lesgue, 4 years of rep hockey A & AA, then 2 years of Jr B and 2 of Jr A.
I sent it and waited for a reply. When i didn't get a reply I went looking for his original post and found that he deleted it. I'm no espert and don't normally engage that way and don't normally boast about my back ground but when he threw the 10 tears of house league hockey at me I thought that maybe he needed to be knocked down a notch or 2.
We all have the right to our own opinions right or wrong. His reply could have been "you have your opinion and i have mine" i would have exceptrd that.

The reason why the bruins and panthers 'get away with stuff' is simply because they are smart, and know that the refs arent going to call 40 penalties a game, the leafs are to pre occupied with 'playing the right way' rather than playing to win
Sheldon Keefe's body language does not exude a lot of confidence. He looks like someone who's been saying the same thing so many times that even he doesn't believe it anymore.

A coach who has a team that doesn't have anyone willing to take the puck to the net will not get penalty calls or win anything. A coach who allows his team to make back-to-the-perimeter passes when they are in the slot, instead of taking the puck to the net or shooting, isn't going to get penalty calls or win anything. But those possession numbers must be good for contract time...

The Leafs consistently outshoot their opponents but can’t seem to get quality shots against the more physical teams like the Bruins. How else can we explain sharpshooters like Mathews, Nylander and Marner getting smoked game after game in the playoffs?
Second big problem is their porous defense. Riley has always impressed me as a strong two way player but it kinda ends there. The rest of the defensive ranks are either too small or not physical enough to put fear into the opponent.

Having the will definitely helps and without it you stand no chance but I do believe it all starts with the coach, and Keefe is clueless. How many times have we seen the "drop back" on the PP? How many times have we seen the worst possible defensive players out on the PK? Does Keefe change it up? NOPE, just keeps doing the same things and hoping for different results, which never happens

Do you really think it fazed any of the players, from either team? Nobody is scared or intimidated by the other team but both teams respect one another and know what each is capable of doing at any point. Look at last year's playoffs, for example. After game 1, Boston was moving on and the Leafs were gone, apparently, but it didn't exactly happen that way. Boston is definitely the better team, and there record proves that, but anything is possible and there's always atleast 1 upset every year. This could be that one. I'm just looking for a good and fairly called game, regardless of the winner
