I've been doing auto body for 40 years as a hobby and have fully restored vehicles. I just want to tell you I really appreciate your channel and style. It's no BS, you just get right into it without a lot hype. The devil is in the details: I like how you kind of show everything, even what some would consider not important. NIce tip on the gun. I just ordered one.
Thank's brother really appreciate the kind words and support. Good to know what you as a viewer like about the channel helps me make better content.👍
it would be nice if I could find a 1.0 tip for it.....the R100 comes with a 0.8 tip.....no other tips seem to be available for that one......I found a cheap HPLV with a 1.0 that worked for me......the tip size become very apparent when mixing powder and with clear to get the color desired...
After finishing a job at home today with this gun, I had to stop by and say thank you for the recommendation. I'm working in my home garage with a 4cfm compressor and have produced decent results with some cheaper and much more expensive guns than this one, but for the first time, I'm proud of the factory-like finish that I was able to lay down with this gun today with no buffing, sanding or polishing. I have dreaded this part of the jobs I've done so far but now I'm excited to do more. Really impressed with this gun ! Thanks!
Awesome! Hey, I really appreciate you letting me know about your experience with the gun. Helps me to dial in the content for the community. Let me ask you with the 4 cfm compressor did you use the technique of lowering air pressure along with the fluid volume to get your results? If not what we're you gun settings.
What is the minimum size to tank you would recommend for this sprayer@@GarageNoise
One of the best videos you put out by far, sometimes us beginners needs to see the adjustments of the gun, paint mixing procedure, air compressor/regulator setup.
Oh good! Thank's for the input, I did it a little differently and wasn't sure how it would be recieved. Appreciate the comment and support!
@@GarageNoise What size hose would you recommend I use for this spray gun??
@@chrisplayz9739 I always use a 3/8 hose. It works well. Appreciate the comment and support!
@@GarageNoise thank you for your help, i have a 20 gallon husky compressor with 4 scfm at 90 psi and im gonna try to learn to paint with the r500
@@chrisplayz9739no way i have the same compressor.. how did it go?
Really appreciate the advice for the diy’er. Some of us can’t afford to pay a pro but still want pro results.
This is exactly the kind of accessible video I need for an upcoming first ever spray job. Gonna check out your other videos! 👍
Awesome! Thank you!
Beautiful looking job....I may just order one.
Wow that's a nice fan and the clear flowed real nice.
Appreciate the comment and support!
Not bad at all!! I just got this and i cant wait to spray with it , i will do a review on it , seems really great for the price
Great info on this Gun, and work!...............
The performance of the gun & the user was awesome...... Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Thank's appreciate the comment and support!
Impressive. Great instructional video .
Thank's James appreciate the support!
Good job Chris. I like the idea you are showing us DIYers how to use the R500. I bought one and really like it.
Awsome! I will be switching it up at some point
About to do my first car spray job and this video was great. I have been watching spray vids all day and the R500 does seem to be the gun for me. Excellent info.
You can't go wrong with this gun.
I did my international Scout with that gun, took the top, fenders, doors and windshield cowl off and sprayed them separately, then only had 2 body panels on the truck to do along with the door jambs. worked very well. did it with a 29 gallon 5cfm compressor.
Hello from Australia. I bought one of these for my first attempt at painting part of my sons car. Watched hours & hours of different channels beforehand, yours Chris is one of the best! Learnt a lot. Thank you.
Awesome! Appreciate the comment and support!
I just ordered one of these spray guns from a link from one of your previous videos Chris. Can't wait to try it when it gets here!
Awesome appreciate the support. I think you'll dig it, let me know how you like it!
God figuring out the right compressor/gun combo for my first garage job has been hard to figure out. This is helpful.
Your spray jobs are awesome
Thank's brother!
You mentioned the significant overspray when shooting clear with the Aiwata gun. I appreciate that you said that as I have that gun and the first time I shot clear with it in my garage that was a very significant issue. I don't use the gun anymore just for that reason. It is a very good gun though as the end result is great, both color and clear.
For sure, If someone is spraying in a booth it's not an issue but without one ventilation is a problem. This gun make a significant difference. I appreciate you commenting and supporting the channel!
@@GarageNoise I thought you had a lot of overspray of clearcoat with this gun.
Novice here. Looks great!! Thank you for all the great info!!

Chris you are killing me. I have so many spray guns and you made me order one of these to try out. Lol
Ha ha, at least it's only 60 bucks lol!
@@GarageNoise a lot cheaper than both DV1s i bought. 😄 🤣
would you recommend a 1/4 size hose or bigger for these little spray guns?
Im a total noob and out of the 100's of videos ive watched, you have provided the easiest to understand info ive seen. You dont do a bunch of unnecessary talking about random stuff which i really appreciate when im just trying to learn! I also have a small compressor so this gun should be perfect. I was ready to drop 1k on a big boy compressor too. So thanks again!
If you get into it you may want that big compressor, but this is a work around to get your feet wet. I appreciate the kind words and support of the channel!
Thank you! I'd been looking at spray guns for too long already. I'm a beginner & didn't want to spend a lot to practice & learn. Bought this gun using your affiliate link! Awesome!
I appreciate that, I think you'll dig it. Really the perfect first diy gun. Thank's for supporting the channel!
Ive been holding off from trying to spray my car for fear of not having a big compressor and those expensive guns, seeing this i think i can give a go and have an amazing result, im gonna purchase through link most definately. Thank you for tips on air pressure thats gona be very helpful for me on my 1st attempt .
Awesome! You can do it! Appreciate the comment and support!
EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT video! i learned about 3 things i did not know from your video. I have been painting for 20 years ....Keep it up , I subscribed and will view often...Awesome dude!
Awesome to here! Appreciate your comment and support!
I bought a R500 at your recommendation and loved it painting my drivers door on my Silverado. I like it more because it is a slower gun. Thanks Chris.

I’m in Tulsa as well I watch your videos all the time ! I didn’t know you were based here , I just bought the r500 and earlier I also bought some paint for my truck from coops, pretty sure his son went to collision and refinishing school with me . Small world !
That's awsome! Appreciate the support! Let me know how you like the R500. I'm doing a video on the Aeropro A610 this sunday it's a updated version of the R500. Appreciate the comment brother!
It looks great I just purchase that gun. thanks to you 👍👍
Awesome! Appreciate the comment and support!
I've been spraying with this gun for the last two years now. It works wonders. I've made so much money with it. I've bought three more and a touch up gun
Awesome! I've got a couple high end Devilbiss, a sagola and and I prefer to use this $70.00 gun🤣
Good ole Rongpeng. That model has been around for years. Got one posing as an Astro Evo4014. Great gun back in the days and still today if anyone's still has it. If not, just find a Rongpeng, Sprayit sp-33000, and whatever else. It does atomize well, but way too slow for a whole car unless it's really compact.
Rongpeng that's the manufacturer good to know. It's been rebranded all over the place. Thank's for sharing!
Global Autobody supplies in Canada has some wonderfully priced LVLP guns!!
Been spraying this gun for 2 years on a 30 gallon compressor for woodworking.
Hi its beatiful work full of Good reasons for drive my jeep to your Shop from P. R. ❤ YOU ARE THE BEST
Thank's brother!
i have two of these guns. i also have a 25 gallon Costco compressor. i use the gun for painting kitchen cabinets. it works better than the way more expensive Fuji HVLP. this is some of the best $75 i spent
Thank's for sharing your experience. Appreciate the support
I've had that gun for about 2 years now. I use it with a 27 gallon compressor. It is great for spraying base coats. It's good for clear too, if you calibrate it JUST RIGHT.
👍
Mikes from Jamaica great .great job
Thank's buddy! Appreciate the support!
I own one of those guns and for the money you can't beat the results of the finish, on spraying you just to go super slow to get a great finish. I don't spray a lot with this gun because I have so many to paint with but for small or jobs that you're in no rush this is the gun that will save you finish time but over all I think it's about the same time wise because of how slow you go to color and clear what ever you're spring, I believe I purchased this gun from summit racing, and for the money it's a jim of a buy !
Appreciate you sharing you experience with the gun. Thank's for the support my friend!
I have the Eastwood version and it works great for me.
Thank's for sharing your experience, appreciate the comment!
HI, got me one of these guns not used just yet looking forward to using it the model I got is the A610 which is the same as the one you're using only rebranded - great video thanks
Awesome! That's a great gun. Appreciate the comment and support!
looks like a great option for low volume compressors
Definitely!
This video is awesome. Speaking my language
👍
I’m going to buy one, thanks too you
Awesome! I think you'll like it.
The budget Iwata, love this gun. Use more than my Iwata.
Love the budget Iwata as well. This is the R500
I know, I have it as well. I bought the spray it R500. What I was saying is it looks. Like the Iwata, w400, the cap and nozzle fit it. That all I was saying. First best gun I bought. Thanks for your feedback.
I am in the middle of painting My 1968 Camaro ( complete color change using PPG concept single stage ) in my tiny garage with a 30 gallon compressor ive done it once before on my previous car a 1965 mustang fastback. My only gun until a few days ago was a Warwick 881h HVLP. This gun would hardly put out any material because it needs13 cfm. My little compressor couldn't keep up... The amount of wet sanding and polishing ive had to do in the past to get a nice finish is insane.
This gun the R500 is almost life changing!! for me 🤣....Iam so excited to spray the rest of my Camaro! I did a test panel yesterday and all I can say is wow. A real spray pattern and material iam just thrilled this gun has come to market for us garage DIY guys its a game changer for me.
There you go, that is a great testimonial on this paint gun from real world experience! Although I have plenty of air with my compressor. I have painted plenty with an air guzzling paint gun and a small compressor. I was excited to share this to help out all the diy guys. Thanks for sharing your experience and supporting the channel!
@@GarageNoise I had never heard of a "LVLP spray gun" until a week ago! I asked the guys at the paint supply shop if they had any guns that took less air than mine and they said not really your better off buying a 60 gallon or bigger compressor but like many other DIYers I can't make that happen in my situation so I started looking on YT and BOOM I found your videos! Thanks you for taking the time to produce them and sharing your knowledge 👍
You sold me on this gun!
I don't think you can go wrong. Let me know how you like it.
I love that Gun I’ve had it for years it’s anodized red I bought it from wood repair products in orange, ca
Thank's for sharing brother, appreciate the comment and support!
Your gun has an extension piece from the gun body to the cup if I go with that disposable cup system from spray IQ will the cups still fit it’s pretty tight without that piece
the upol primer works well as a sealer also, I am glad you are telling people about that, the 2892 is also good clear, I like that it is system 20 meaning its uses the same activator, edit, upol says the primer can be tinted,I have never done it though, it would be interesting to try
Yes, somthing I neglected to mention is the activator is interchangeable. I would like to try tinting that sealer as well. Appreciate the comment and thanks for the support!
@@GarageNoise I am going to try using leftover basecoat first,I think it refers to using mixing tint though
@@yeayeasautoadventures1161 yes, you will need the mixing tint. As you know you can't just add paint to sealer that's a no no.
@@GarageNoise no, I did not know that, I used to mix acrylic enamel years ago, I dont remember anything different in it but maybe some clear other than toner,I use the same reducer and activator for sealer as I do basecoat,so no, that doesnt add up to me, Ill try it anyway on a test panel
Great finish. I usually use devilbiss guns.
I like Devilbiss have a couple plus guns. Appreciate the support!
Great channel
Thanks brother! Appreciate the support
Great video and editing, I teach at Tulsa Tech in the collision refinishing class we just watched this video since I am always looking at cheaper spray guns for my students to purchase as your first gun set up!!
Awesome! That's cool, curious if your getting alot of students for the program? It really would be a great first gun set up and there's also a kit available with a touch up gun as well. Appreciate you sharing and the support!
@@GarageNoise We have full classes, but a smaller percentage that stick with it. We have Coops Wholesales son in class right now.
what size hose do you recommend for these little spray guns? I was looking at 1/4
@@chrisplayz9739 3/8 I.D. is going to allow the gun to use all the CFM it can, 1/4 inch ID could work ok, if you limit the length to under 15ft.
@@HogshooterHotrods thank you
I’m so glad I found your channel. Just subscribed and went through a few videos. I’m looking to repaint one of my cars at home. Going to pick up this LVLP up but wanted to see if you could advise if a Kobalt 26gal that’s 4.5 cfm at 90psi would be okay or do I need something that’s even bigger? Thanks again, appreciate all your videos!
It would probably get the job done, I like to see at least 6cfm. I always say buy as much cfm as you can afford. Harbor freight makes one 30 gallon close to 6cfm for under 300 I believe. Hope this helps appreciate the sub and support! Welcome to the community!
Hey man, I appreciate all your videos! I love how I don’t see anyone else “giving their secrets away” like you do.
Have you gotten ahold of Speedokote stuff yet!! Their clear is hard to beat for their price!
Thank's brother appreciate that, I have some speedcoat ready to try, will be coming soon.
Great explanation and thank you for the excellent video instruction!
No problem happy to help. I appreciate the comment and support!
I've been using budget pps since day one. I also pick up the refill packs at Harbor Freight because it only costs about 10 bucks for enough to do an entire job or a few small jobs. I always use pps for clear because of the screen, but to save $$ I often use a regular cup for base and sometimes primer. Base isn't too bad to clean out.
That's a really nice finish, the big overlaps really help and yeah, this gun is pretty slow so you gotta keep that thought as you spray
Yeah the harbor freight may be the same not sure. I believe I got the adapter for this gunat HB. Appreciate the support ! I've watched some of your videos keep it up!
Your right about that. I've always been in the habit of judging how the clear is coming off the gun because for a long time I was painting with a smaller compressor. Wish I had this gun when I was struggling with air pressure. Appreciate the comment and support!
@@GarageNoisei'm not much of a content creator( more of a content watcher) but I am going to try to document some work here and there so I can direct potential customers and they can check out what I do...
@@BearBudgetTurbine Do you use 24L or 50L air compressor when you use lvhp spray gun??
tell ya I bought a harbour freight chrome gun for 68.00 a few years ago.i wouldn't trade it for any high end gun. good video.
👍
I bought an Iwata touch up gun, suction type, with bowl, 3.5 cfm, and painted cars with it, I bought it a long time ago, very expensive, then when I had more air, I put a kit in it, to make it a high quality full size gun, 7.5 cfm, and painted many cars and my steel yacht with it. I thought it was a Meiji, which was the other expensive quality choice, but I just took a look at it.
Good content
Thank's brother! Appreciate the support!
I just bought this gun (first gun) and a 2hp 20g Ingersoll Rand 5.4 cfm, I’ll let you guys know the results. I bought the compressor used for $400, gun for $54 on Temu. I’m painting my Silverado Metallic silver.
Thank you
You're welcome
Nice, video looks great ,what kind of gun again I like to buy one
Another great video. I'm not a painter but want to learn. Got some cars I'm restoring. Is the reducer you used just standard urethane reducer. Again I really enjoy watching you show and share your knowledge.
Thank's brother! Yes, just standard urethane reducer. Good luck on your restoration hope the content is helpful in your project. Appreciate the support!
Amazing

Italco mini shine 1.2mm lvmp/ hvlp, around $55-60 here. Its a mini gun, but the hvlp version spray around 22-24cm fan almost like a full size gun. The lvmp model spray smaller fan but still usable and consume less air. I only have the hvlp version, but some user say they only use 1hp airless compressor with the 1mm nozzle and it works well.
Italco is a premium brand of auarita. I got several gun with this brand, most auarita model only suitable as a hobby level gun. Its more durable than many chinese brand gun.
Hey! I am also in Tulsa. I am doing my 1st paint job on my 54 Belair.

I have two 20 gallon compressors hooked together to supply more air.

By the way old 3m gun
Excellant value...
Thank's for sharing your experience. I haven't used the accuspray in awhile but that gun is a good value and versatile. Appreciate the support!
Very informative, you mentioned a couple times that it was cooler out. Do you recall about what the temps were? Its been ranging about 60-65 deg here and I'm not sure if it's too cold.
That's not to cold to paint in just use the appropriate speed and reducer for that temp. When it gets 50-55 i like to warm up the panel with a heat lamp.
Great video! I may have to try this gun out. Do you have a video on those cups you use? Do they have any inner bladder? What adapter do they use?
Yes , I have a video with info on the adapter. czcams.com/video/fDKK-eScKQI/video.html
What is considered a small air compressor
Beautiful Finish, flat as can be, like glass. No orange peel here my friends. With a budget gun.

New subscriber from Oklahoma. Do you recommend any guns from Harbor Freight ?
Awesome love u❤

I'm going to get one of these guns. Got to try it out. I do a lot of painting with a 30 gallon tank compressor. Mostly small repairs.
And, you got an O'Reillys that handles Nason? Wish ours did.
I think you'll like it. Let me know how it works out for ya. Appreciate the support!
The coloring reminds me of the Black Widow HVLP from Harbor Freight.

How many turns of product does the r500 regulate for paint and clear
I think your asking how my fluid is set up when spraying. If that's the case 2.5 to 3 turns out from closed. Hope this helps, thank's for the support!
That's a beautiful finish for a 60.00 gun.
I use expensive guns and can't tell the difference lol....
I know right, kinda love it because of the low overspray. Appreciate the comment and support!
I am taking automotive painting and color matching at my local university campus up the street. I don't have a ton of money to spend on equipment, and I have a completely different purpose for taking the classes. I restore Ovation guitars, and I want to be able to paint the bowls (composite fiberglass bodies) and tops. The paint job and explanation were great, with one caveat. I didn't hear you specify what CFM would be required of the compressor. Obviously, what I will be painting isn't even a tenth of the square inches of that bumper cover, so I am wondering what I need. I have been looking at 20-30 gallon tanks with a 5hp motor on the compressor. They typically put out between 8-10 CFM @ 40psi. By your description, I am guessing that would be adequate. Thanks for the video, explanation, and recommendation on the gun!
For what your doing I believe your right on track with the compressor your thinking of. Appreciate the comment and support brother! Happy painting!
Great video! I have been researching guns for a while and just pulled the trigger and ordered one from your Amazon link.
Now, how do I get the cup you use rather than the one that comes with the gun?
Thank you.
Hey man. I really appreciate that and I appreciate the comment and the support. I will leave a link for the disposable cups that I use. You can go with the segola, disposable cups or the ones in this video, they're spray IQ.amzn.to/3whOmK1

Hi! Absolutely loved the video with the very thorough explanation of the garage setup with all the tricks to get around using a booth and with all the tips and techniques explanation. Saved the video, thank you so much!
I got a question. Most probably a stupid one. I got a 4.8 gallons compressor with 2.2CFM@90PSI. I know, I know, it's not "small" but rather "tiny" in the car paint world.
But the question is, is it even possible to paint a small car (a Mazda Miata NB) with an R500 type of the paint gun and this compressor with some struggle for a newbie, or it's a 100% one way ticket to a failure?
Thanks!
I appreciate the comment and support. Unfortunately I don't think that compressor is going to get the job done. You need about 6cfms, typically that's about a20-30 gallon compressor.
@@GarageNoisegot it, thank you!
Hi, can you please tell me what canister you are using to spray the isopropyl alcohol with?
I'll be in Tulsa July 7&8 for the All Mercury Invitational car show at the Sagnet center. It would be great if you could make it
That would be cool, but I have something going on that week.
Great video , 1 question did you use the same needle?
Yes I did
For this gun, do you use the 1.3 for all the substances? Love the tips and content!
Yes, but thick primer you might use a 1.5
Binks M1-G not a budget gun but excellent quality. Sprays base coat and clears exceptionally well.
I know Binks have made some good guns. Never used one. Thank's for sharing and supporting the channel!
I'd mentioned to you in another video that my R500 came with a damaged air cap. But, since I didn't use it until after the return date, I now have a paper weight. Moral: Inspect on arrival.
I would say that's a good tip! You never know with these products. Appreciate the comment!

Great video, i am just getting started and looking for a beginner set up. What is the smallest compressor i could get away with using this spray gun?
20gallon that produces 6cfms.
Great video, thanks for sharing your knowledge, and hello from across the pond. Would this gun be suitable for home use spraying woodwork with water based acrylic and also oil based finishes? Thanks.
I haven't tried it but other viewers have and say it works well.
