Im just amazed you got the heat sheild on and off great job
Great job! I would recommend a spray rust penetrant and over night soak, if feasible, then remove.
True, but not a big issue when you have a Milwaukee high torque. 😂 😂
Looks like I'm doing my down pipe tomorrow. Good video, hardest part looked like the damn heat shield...
That heat shield was very annoying! I just did mine. But I think I have to replace the v band clamp from the turbo. I’m having a small exhaust leak 🙄
Thought you were going to break out the blue wrench for a minute! Nice job!
Blue wrench? Not familiar with that terminology. Lol
@@MrSubaru1387 😂😂
@@jamesbruno5896 honestly, what's the joke? Haha. WD-40? Propane torch?
@@MrSubaru1387 usually oxy / acetylene 👍
@Bailey Hatfield if it does fail cut it off with a torch!
That's a weird looking Subaru!
Definitely would rather work on a Subaru. So much easier! Haha
That's a funny looking Subaru...must be a United states only model ;)
I did an egr delete with an upgraded lb7 uppipe. The 3 inch downpipe will not fit . I tried bending it by beating it with a sledgehammer but still the bellows on the up-pipe are larger than the stock up-pipe and are preventing me from getting it flush against the turbo and I cant get the vband on. My up-pipe and downpipe came together as a kit but did not include a different vband clamp. When I strike it with the mallet its bending the other side of the pipe as well. If I had something to insert into the downpipe I could bend just the specific area but I'm not a machine shop and don't have bending machines or anything hard and heavy to put through it to beat to the desired shape. I tried putting the stock downpipe back on but it too is having this problem. The flanges will not meet up evenly. What happens is I'll start tightening the vband and it push the downpipe off every time. I dont know what to do. Any ideas?
Are you running an exhaust aswell? I’m looking at the mbrp 4 inch down pipe back for my lb7 and was wondering if the Down pipe was worth it?
I thought US trucks and cars were SAE/ IMPERIAL?
Nice Job...🥰 That Milwaukee right angle ratchet is worth it's weight in Gold...
OMG how long did this take you?
Nope, they've been metric for decades. Semis are about all that's still SAE, but they've shifted metric the last 5-10 years. Harley Davidson is about the last SAE user, aside from heavy-duty equipment/earth movers.
I know you have to pull the top heat shield off, but did you have to remove the heat shield on the actual down pipe itself? Thanks for the content, much appreciated.
Yea , did you NOT remove OEM down pipe heat shield? It just drops out the bottom ?
that looked like work and as you stated before--not as easy as a Subie.
Oh it was. Anything is work on this truck. Lol
Im having a hard time getting the down pipe to seat into the back of the turbo. Any tricks or just wiggle like hell
Your camera shots look great. Is it a new camera? If so, what kind is it?
Same setup as I've used for a while. Canon 6DMKII and GoPro Hero 7.
MrSubaru1387 it looks great keep it up. Your Subaru work has helped me a quite a bit. I have an ‘01 Forester. 176k and still running
Can you do a video on how to drill out bolt studs that rust and snap in the thread?
I've been planning to. Hard to make a video on it, because no two broken bolts come out the same way or with the same method.
Thanks so much!
You're welcome 👍🏻
I have a 2005 lly. It is all stock with the exception of an AFE turbo inlet mouthpiece. After 160,00 miles, I'm not sure I really needed it or noticed a significant improvement. Did you find this upgrade to have a significant impact on performance?
Which? The turbo horn or the downpipe? Butt dyno agreed on both being improvements in power.
I was interested in your opinion on the down pipe. I take your response as a yes - worth doing! Thanks for the reply. Also, I recently replaced all of my injectors and your injector video was very helpful!
Looked a fiddly job. Did you fast forward past the expletives when removing the heat shield?
No, I was quiet, just took a while getting it turned and bent the right way to get it out.
Good job, that looked so tedious
Thanks!
How are you koken tools holding up?
Loving them. No issues thus far. 👍🏻 Used the Ko-ken Z-Series ratchet on this job.
I so don't miss owning any more GMs. The only thing worse are Dodges. Only Subaru for the last 12 years.
Subaru are much easier to work on. That's for sure. Lol
That's an odd comparison, Subaru doesn't make any HD trucks
Will this work on a 06 LBZ?
Yeah it's the same setup
Are you saying "Ford pipe"? 😁🤔
Front pipe.
14:35 holy cross thread lmao
Holy not cross threaded...
